tbh, these are my favorite episodes, that accurately capture the experience of keeping an old performance car in good shape. The project car life means endlessly chasing down little faults and problems, learning new fabrication skills, making deals for parts in sketchy back alleys, etc, etc. It's not all flashy bodywork, hot mods and screaming dyno sessions.
But it's worth it, because these cars are special in a way that new cars are not.

Definitely enjoying the BMW content and revisiting past project cars to keep them running. Sounds like it needs a blower motor resistor next. I don't have the time or use case for a steering box equipped BMW, but living vicariously through your build is a lot of fun!

I like the updates on previous builds. I become somewhat invested in them and want to know what breaks and what modifications are being done to improve/maintain them.
I love the updates on the older builds. As a BMW owner (x2) the new problems and deep breaths are part of the adventure. Pete's love/frustration of the bimmer is so accurate. Great stuff, Gents!

Really appreciate both the follow up on previously completed builds, and the E34 M5 content as a whole. The first episode was a great resource for me as I also own one of these cars. A lot of the old forum info is long gone and detailed video like yours about servicing the intake system is invaluable.
Love seeing performance channels being responsible by adding cat back on to a car with a straight exhaust. Thanks for giving us responsible performance.

Watching this and listening to you two driving it gives me all the feels of my own E34 M5. By far the most fun hobby car I’ve had. And a sweet daily. Sold it and still regret it. Great content all around !
The silver works so well for this car, and the wheels are also just spot on. Often times I feel silver cars just disappear, yet this one stands out. Liking this one.
The throwing star wheels are the nicest on these M5’s in my opinion… these would make good winter wheels
The other ones were not bad looking either surely keep them for latter as a full set of spares..

Excellent series. Love the E34. I find the steering to have a lot of play on center but was told it’s normal for these cars with steering box. Would be interested to her your thoughts. Keep up the good work!
Yes they are sloppy. I just tightened the adjustment screw and it made quick a nice difference
Started watching your channel from the Mod My Car series. Quick builds. So definitely enjoy 2-3 episode reclamation projects. Keep mixing them in with the other awesome builds!

She deserves a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB, I put one in my E34 M5 and it matches perfectly, looks like the original and has a super solid bluetooth connection. You can also dial the backlight color in to match exactly!
Plan is to get a blaupunkt eventually. They are the perfect match for that era car
The BMW is looking good. Pete doesn't know how powerful those finger snaps are. When he snapped his finger to change the lights it also changed his shirt. Dave might need to ease up on the BMW ribbing, because who knows what Pete might do with those snap powers. 🙂

Love the M Parallel wheels. I have two sets for my Bimmer and I feel that they are one of the best style of wheels BMW has made. I feel though that the M-System/Turbine/Throwing stars fit the E34 M5 body style better in this case. Can't go wrong with either though

PT - that sealant you put upstream on the exhaust could damage your new cats - a metal gasket would be the way to go. Love the channel and superb content 🙂

Back in the day, this was my dream car….
The fan problem will be the fan resistor under the dash. They're worth checking even if they work properly as leaves can clog up around it and it can be a massive fire risk. I ended up replacing mine in my 525i as it wad badly corroded.
This one is like a 3/4 scale M740i. Well done. Sounds great!
Didn’t see a problem with the headlights you had in before but those new headlights they do look good maybe even better

Im pretty sure the blower fan resistor is blown as the fan will still work on full blast but not on lower speeds......theyre a bit of a fire risk!!!.......love this car and wouldnt wanna see it go up in flames!!
Now that you've refreshed that engine bay, you desperately need to get a new coolant bottle and windshield washer bottle.
Love a short series like this one. Maybe we could've gotten 3 episodes to actually "perfect" the car. But yeah, seeing cars come back and get a few easy mods here and there that improve the driving experience. These mods are also way more relatable for us, so there's that appeal.
I love M Parallels, but I have to vote that you go with the modified OE style wheels. They look amazing.

Pete running to the back of his bimmer to smell exhaust fumes made for some pull my finger jokes. Great to follow along as always though, and as others said, it is cool that you go back to previous builds.
It's never one and done with BMW's! I wouldn't mind if this turned into a BMW only channel. Love the previous wheels for a restomod look, love these wheels for a period correct look. I would just get them refinished. For the shift knob these don't screw in, you need to give it a good smack down with your palm until it seats in place.

I think I still just prefer the throwing stars you had made for the E39 wagon, the M Parallels look nice but they're not very unique. Guess it doesn't matter as much if you bash a kerb or two though! :)

Don’t give up on the BMW gated manual …. Love the M5
So the fan speed control not working on 1-3 is a resistor pack that put a different resistors for the lower speeds and does without a resistor for the 4 speed. Just change the resistor pack in the firewall near the middle if i remwmber correctly. Should be a fairly quick job

The fan only running on 4 is a resistor board has to be replaced to get the other speeds back, at least that's how it is on the e30.
Is the coolant reservoir still available? Would definitely clean up the engine compartment with a new one
They are (or were) I bought one a few years ago when I still had my E34 M5.

Replace the maf sensor and fuel filter it’ll help out a lot
It will be the fan speed controller that has failed, in Speed 4 it bypasses the resistor(s) and give direct 12v to the fan for full speed. Very common on all cars 👍
the headlights didn't bother me, but the euro ones ARE a huge improvement
Maybe it’s just me but I prefer the darker headlights tbh. If I buy this car from you, I’ll buy the headlights too and install them myself.

The fan issue is the blower motor resistor. Classic symptom with only HIGH speed working. HIGH bypasses the resistor.

M-parallels are the best looking wheel for the E34/E39/E31/E32/E38 generations.

If the blower fan only works on high, than the blower motor resistor is bad. On high it bypasses the resistor.

Welding the 304 stainless Cats onto the old mild steel exhaust was always going to be a big ask, the welds will always look terrible and are prone to cracking. If they fail get a new section made in stainless. You will probably be ok as ling as you don’t look up when under the car and get pigeon poop in the eye 😂👍
Should get rid of the crusty stock exhaust and get a custom stainless 2 into 1 with one cat. Weight savings, less complexity.

E60 545i short shifter is great for E34’s and E39’s. Love it!
