There’s something different about Nique’s dunks than MOST other players. Sure, Jordan looks like he’s flying and gliding with grace, but Nique’s dunks woulda made you think the rim owed him money, bad mouthed his momma and tryna hit on his girl.
Lol. This video was hilarious and insightful 😂 Good stuff. Nique was an amazing player in the WRONG era. Bird had a squad, Isiah had a squad, Magic had a squad…. but Nique did not. The fact that he pushed Bird’s Celtics to 7 in 88, should tell you how dangerous this man was
As one of the biggest Nique fans ever, I always like to mention the other incredible things he did aside from the dunks and scoring. Did you know he's the #33 all time offensive rebounder? He got more than lots of centers and power forwards like Laimbeer, Ewing, Kersey, Sikma....as a shooting forward. He was the embodiment of when coaches tell you "follow your shot". He lived it and got those second chance points from pure effort. He also was one of the best off the glass shooters EVER. From 15 feet in, he could shoot bank shots anywhere proficiently. It may be the most overlooked part of his game. But he was as fundamental as Tim Duncan when it came to that part of his shooting prowess. Kids could learn a ton from that now. Angle that shot off the glass and you make it a LOT harder to block and once you're good at it, you're a lot more likely to make those shots as well. Long live Nique!
I got to watch him live many times in the old Omni. He was as advertised, the Human Highlight Film. He was going to the rack on offense, he loved traffic, the more the better, what were you going to do to stop him? I wish he had a better team, if anyone deserved a ring it was Nique.
I'm glad that I'm old enough to have witnessed that era of basketball. Dominique Wilkins was so explosive. So many people just do not get how dynamic he really was. And he was more than a dunker. You don't score over 26,000 points for your career by dunking the basketball. I just wish he had better talent around him.
i have always considered Nique to be ( by far) much more of a superstar than Scotie Pippen was though Pippen enjoys significantly more recogniton because he happened to play next to MJ Dominique is one of the top 5 most spectacular players they game has seen and for sure one of the most stylish too.
Dude, you should have seen it from 6 rows up at the old Omni. Saw him play many times. Video does not do this man justice of just how fast and how high he could get up. Saw many one touch rebound slams that were ridiculous.
Yeah man he was amazing man people often criticize him not having chips but don’t realize that he didn’t have the teams and carried that team through that decade as far as he could.
He won Euroleague (it was stll called FIBA European League in '96), final4 MVP where he put 35 points in the final being 37 yo. He also won this year every domestic competition in Greece, championship and cup. He is a very special legend in Panathinaikos history.
So, be saying "championship" it can be misleading, winning Greek league is not something special, but winning in Euroleague, where only the approx. 2-3 best teams of each country compete, it fucking is. Nevertheless, amazing content.
Dominique Wilkins should have been named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. The 1980s Atlanta Hawks are underrated. The Hawks were a really strong team back then.
Underestimated my Arse! Wilkins was the BOMB. His rivalry with Jordan isn't spoken about much. But Wilkins always played Jordan straight up hard. He was truly incredible
He would make LeBron think tiwce. Nique isnt ranked higher bcuz rings matter first, stats 2nd, great highlights and so on. Nique was a monster. Athleticism out of this world. Nothing to not love about Nique❤❤
Idk, Wilkins is considered an NBA legend, was named to the 75th anniversary team, he’s a hall of famer and had his jersey retired among other things. I don’t think he’s underrated. Overlooked? Sure. But not underrated, he got his flowers.
Perhaps kinda. I felt that way for years too. But on the other hand, he was clearly his team's best scorer. And the guy who could get a shot off when the offense broke down.
That's not really where I feel he comes up short. Many scorers were like that. It's just that for those who want to put him in the upper echelon of all time great forwards, I don't feel he was exceptional in any other areas of the game. Above average rebounder, average on defense, average at best, ball handler. He could actually pass pretty well, he just didn't look to do it enough. A Baylor, Havlicek, Barry, Bird, Erving, Grant Hill, LeBron, Durant all had solid overall games. Nique, terrific scorer. Like Dantley and Melo.

I have said it for years. Ppl see what they want to see. The guy was a grenade on any given night. No real help

He's my GOAT
One of the few players to sustain a ruptured Achilles and come back like nothing happened

Dominique Wilkins, Carmelo Anthony, and Russell Westbrook all are the greatest underrated players of all time.
Dominique Wilkins should have been named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.
The 1980s Atlanta Hawks are underrated.
The Hawks were a really strong team back then.

I remember bits of the atlanta boston series games.. hated the celtics and liked atlanta and lakers that was peak NBA IMO
Yeah, the 45 on Nique's last dunk in the '88 Chicago contest made it clear there was no way that crowd was not going to get Jordan winning it 😁
goobin time
Nbagoober13 is the Dominique of nba youtube
Just subbed please don’t quit yt
Dominic wilkins needed someone to help him get over the hump like a james worthy or a scottie pepper

Crazy part is a jazz team with Stockton , Malone nd Wilkins would’ of been lethal Stockton might average 20 assists 😂so many damn lobs thrown
They woulda been the 90's version of the Lob City Clippers.
if i recall correctly when dominique and his brother gerald played eachother they avaraged a combined 70 points at some point
Nene better🥱
Im ngl I WAS WAITING FOR THIS SHIT NIQUE FOR PRESIDENT TOP 10 MOST ATHLETIC FREAK OF NATURE TO EVER PLAY I"LL DIE ON THIS HILL

Actually the story is that the Jazz wanted him to play the 4 and he refused and asked for a trade
Dom was that effin guy
Sounds like a more entertaining version of Embiid’s career
GOOBER I’m sorry I’m late
My uncles a old head so ik about him😂
Wait? Who isn’t talking about him? He was a major inspiration for some of todays best players including Lebron James
Nique should have just joined the MJ and the Bulls like LBJ would hv. Then maybe he too could be in the GOAT talk
Nice vid,but u know whos really underrated, Dennis Johnson a.k.a"DJ"

Glob Wilkins
Hi gooby
Wilkins is my favorite player ever and if he had a better team he would no doubt have a chip. To bad his team sucked.
He would be a good role player in todays league.
I saw some people tryna say Paul George is better than him 🤦🏾♂️
Im taking dom
If and when ..overrated ...great athlete ...but selfish selfish selfish ......played for himself ..no such thing as team ...
Perhaps kinda. I felt that way for years too. But on the other hand, he was clearly his team's best scorer. And the guy who could get a shot off when the offense broke down.
Nah, this guy was never close to mvp level. Scoring with average efficiency. Derozan.

Wilkins was never a great shooter. I thought that kept the Hawks from winning more games.
