I remember, when I first watched this, I burst into tears when I heard Tanjiro's speech. I could feel how angry and frustrated Tanjiro was at that moment. All of the voice actors in this series, not just Tanjiro's, do a really great job.
Sadly, Rengoku really had to step in and die for the trio to live. For me he has the most unfair fight but has one of the best send-offs in the series. Imagine fighting the top 3 alone and your comrades sent with you are a bunch of newbies. He went out with an honorable death. There are still a lot of Rengoku materials that needs to be animated and imo, the spin off manga is the best to close Rengoku's chapter. Pls don't forget the prequel and its after credits! 😉 There are a lot of easter eggs in this arc in terms of story building. We now know the strength of an Upper moon and Akaza is top 3. In this fight, it seems that Akaza wasn't even interested in killing kyojuro, but rather wanted him to be a demon instead. There were parts when he's slowing down for Kyojuro. Even showed concern for him in the last part. We've always felt that in s1 the hashiras are strong and all but in the end they are only humans and humans will always have limitations unlike demons. His death has a huge impact in this series as he is the first one to fight an upper moon in this generation of hashiras. It is a humbling blow as his comrades all look up and respect him. Hits really hard if we go back to rengoku and shinobu's last conversation in s1. And they will have to level up themselves because as of now we only met upper moon 3... Did you notice that Rengoku never even saw Inosuke's real face? Trivia: the scene when tanjiro was shouting at akaza was done in one take. Tanjiro's voice actor considers Rengoku's voice actor as his senpai. So it got really emotional when they were recording this and tanjiro's VA was just crying throughout. In the ufotable notes, normally they would use a specific palette for Tanjiro's tears. They changed it a bit during the scene when he was crying for Rengoku to evoke a certain glow and have that really emotional impact. They worked hard in animating Rengoku to perfectly show how strong and noble his character was. During the last smile scene however, they wanted to evoke that feeling kyojuro emanated in the manga. That in his last moments, this powerful hashira is just a boy smiling innocently at his mother. 😔
To be fair the only reason they were even sent on a mission like that with Rengoku was because Akaza coming into the fight was literally unexpected and Akaza was sent there on a whim of him just being nearby
akaza compass needle is totally rengoku's natural enemy is a skill that gets more sensitive the higher the martial spirit is seriously it's a very bad job for rengoku so we can say that rengoku as passive skill fought in the most serious form of akaza and akaza said to rengoku, your fighting spirit is close to the highest realms sharpened to the utmost
The whole thing was a cinematic masterpiece. Perfect for the big screen. Me and 2 homies had the whole theater to ourselves. Hype moments were hype. But at the ending we were dead silent. Shit was crazy

it's sad that Rengoku's only way he got close to killing Akaza was when he was too distracted about turning him into a demon. Akaza was smiling throughout the whole fighting, not being serious at all.
Akaza wasn’t smiling at the end was he? Hell nah. Stalemate is a win for Rengoku. Rengoku forcing a draw with upper 3 will only prove more impressive as the show goes on. Legendary shit
@@NobleVagabond2552 bro akaza got panic because of the rising sun not for rengoku or any other human. In reality akaza was playing with rengoku and he could killed rengoku in secs but he was rather busy in talking to rengoku. Also akaza is literally immortal in the night. Even when human ,akaza was way stronger than rengoku. You will see akaza full strength in the infinity castle arc.
To get away from the sun,he can't get out of the rengoku' grip that when he started panicking. Imagine your grip is so strong that upper moon 3 had to ripped his arms off to escape from it. Rengoku was amazing. Sorry for my english.
"You did perfectly fine" is actually much closer to what she really says in the original Japanese. I was watching a Japanese reaction to this movie and they were watching it with the English subtitles and people in the comments talked about how they were surprised that the English version says "you made me proud," because that sounds so much more moving and heartwarming than what she actually says.
The Craziest thing to me is that the only reason only Rengoku dies is because of Akaza. If Akaza wasn’t so intrigued by Rengoku, he could’ve blitz them and killed everyone there. He was clearly holding back that entire fight because he wanted to recruit Rengoku rather than kill him. That allowed them to stall for time until the sun came up. The only time to me that Akaza got serious is when he punched a hole into Rengoku and I think that was because he was taken off guard by Rengoku last attack and forced him to actually fight. If you look at Akaza face when he punches through Rengoku it cold and serious. It’s unlike his facial expressions in the fight before that moment. Also the fact that he is capable of punching a hole in Rengoku confirms he was holding back. Cause that means when he broke Rengoku ribs, he would’ve punched through him there. Also when he smashed his left eye, the tells me he could’ve punched half of Rengoku face off.
I think overall the leap from S1 to Mugen Train was astronomically bigger than Mugen Train to Entertainment District, but yes in terms of the fight animation specifically Entertainment was far more flashy
Seriously, when the later battles happen the animation is going to be even more insane because it will probably be like 5 years at least down the damn road before we get the best fights. I’ll be almost 40 for gods sake
