I always wonder when I see a deceased estate of hobby items, be it cars, models or tools, what was running through their mind. "Oh I like that" or, "That'll come in handy". A mind of dreams and ideas no longer with us. Its like the new buyer is honouring that. Don't start me on layouts. Now they'd be deep.
Hopefully some people will take these items and enjoy them on their layout. He seemed to have quite a bit of brand new stuff . This is good stuff if your starting or know what you need.
What happens to the layout? Why do people always destroy the layout and let you vultures come in? Why not try to sell the house with the layout intact? 😡
First off, I was approached about selling the collection by the owner who is just thinning his estate collection. He still has his layout to enjoy for many years to come. I personally do not buy railroad collections but act as a Broker to find new homes for the items instead of having them end up in the landfill. ~Tony
vulture's,, he is at least going to try and get the price the stuff is worth,, not like most that have no idea on the prices and just sell it for fast money .
As surprising as it may seem, not everyone is a model railroader so having a layout in a house that you are trying to sell could be a detriment as the new buyer has to dispose of it. Also "vultures" is a bit of a harsh label for someone willing to lend assistance in selling a collection. Hope you have a happy new year!
Thanks for doing this. I know it is hard for people to go through this process.
Wow! What an honor to be the Trustee of a late MRRs collection and help their family through this tough process. Thank you for sharing!
