Thanks Ruben! Great intro to rods.
I think another factor for rod length selection woild be reaching the rod tip to near the water surface from a standing position to work top water lures. The right length would vary depending on the person's height and where they are fishing - boat, dock, bank, etc.
Thanks, absolutely. There's a ton of factors that come into play especially when you're selecting lures.
Good clear information. Great job!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video, learned a few things about actions of rods,
Your channel is my number 1 surf fishing channel, thank you
I appreciate that!
Great info, I use to always get the combos they would not last the long. Now I spend a little more $$$. Now they last way longer. Learned this from your utube videos when I started to follow you 3 years ago. Love your video & tips. Keep up the Awesome work Bro🤘🤘🤙🤙
Awesome bro!
thanks g
this healped a lot
Glad it helped
I recently bought a Tsunami Med / Heavy with a Fast Tip 7ft. spinning rod and I love it for trout, reds, flounder and sheepshead ! It handles thou's large black drum and bull reds too. This rod is the most expensive rod I have ever bought, even though it was only $120. WoW, what a difference, im7 graphite is very sensitive to the bite fast hook sets with the fast tip and a lot of ( strong ) backbone. I did not realize how much of a difference a more expensive rod would make ! ! ! Great video ! ! ! ! ! Thank's.
Thanks. Yea I remember my 1st time using a rod priced over my usual budget rods. I was very surprised how much more I could feel & how much less my arms were tired because how much lighter the rod was. It's definitely a game changer. Congratulations on finding a rod you really like & enjoy.
This is great video. I definitely prefer a Medium/Heavy Fast. Big fan of Ugly Stik and the way their tips react.
I use those for bulls at the jetties.7'
Thanks! You can't go wrong with a Ugly Stik those rods can withstand some abuse
I like a 6’6” medium light/medium fast on a baitcaster out of a kayak. Or wading. I really don’t need to cast as far out of a kayak or wading but those rods can throw a softdine far enough during the winter. Also a 6’6” rod allows for a short compact somewhat sidearmed cast which is the preferred method. I can throw plastics, tops, spoons. For a popping cork, 7’ medium fast. I have a TFO medium that’s rated 1/4-3/4 but feels like a medium heavy. Also your popping cork rod does not have to be anything fancy. As for my artificials, I really like Laguna Custom rods. The Laguna Liquids have gone up in price but I think those are a great value. If you kayak fish, you are probably going to break a rod. There is a learning curve to figuring out how to alter your cast so as not to hook anything behind you, also where to store your extra rods. I wish I could take 3 rods but invariably I eventually catch one on a back cast and break it. So two rods is what works for me.
Awesome! Thanks for the great information
Great info brother
Thanks brother 🤙🏼
Awesome !!!
Thanks!!
Great explanation
Glad it was helpful!
Good to know.
Thanks! 🤙🏼
Great video, lots of info. Just one question I'm stepping up my fishing skills. I use TFO rods with Daiwa reels. But I want to go with a little bit name brand rods. What do you recommend ? I need a good rod for trout/ flounder.
Fish Stix, Laguna Rods, and H&H all make excellent rods. I would look more into what the rod & rod eyes are made of along with handle. The better means lighter, more durable, more sensitive & more expensive. All these rod manufacturers use the same eyes, same blanks, and other components. I recently went by H&H store in spring very helpful guys there, also Anglers Anonymous (Laguna Rods) in Katty, and Fish Stix has a store too in Santa Fe. I would try any of those stores. it just depends on which one you're closer to. You won't go wrong with any of them. Good luck
You got my sub man. I really appreciate the info. Please take me fishing with you! haha
Thanks for the sub! I need to get back out there! It's been too long
Penn.... Seems to be my go to reel and rods ... Depends on the type of fish I'm trying to catch
Penn is an excellent brand. I really like using them when I fishing with live or cut bait. I have a couple surf rod & reels that I've used for years
I’m Laguna rod fan, very light and affordable under 170. For the liquid series.
Awesome! Yes sir, Laguna makes excellent rods. I know a few ppl that really like them
@@TexasAllWaterFishing I think I have 5 liquid and 2 customs 😬
🤣
Im liking the hell out of my new Old 18 Ascend light action 7'. I prefer lighter side gear. Inshore I prefer BFS type weight rods
I fish old 18 myself the ml are the deal
I've heard a lot of good things about Old 18 I might have to take a better look at them
@@TexasAllWaterFishing I don’t think you’ll be disappointed
Waterloo makes some great rods sub $200 Salinity and Phathom
Right on, I've never fished with a waterloo before
Very good video for new fishing people it will help a lot
Thanks, I hope so. There's some many options these days, it's a good thing but for ppl new to fishing can be confusing.
What baits would you recommend for a 7ft heavy fast penn rod?inshore
Live or Lure? What are you targeting or fishing for? There's a ton of answers
What’s the rod rated at ? 8/20 1/4-3/4 oz ? Swim baits spoons
Old 18 outfitters Waterloo luguna
Awesome! Thanks🤙🏼
