In this video I am sharing how I was able to diagnose and fix a problem with horn not working. It is shown on the example of Lexus IS250 / IS350, but the same process will also work on many other cars. You just need to locate and check the horn fuse and replace it if necessary. If you are not sure where to find the fuse box on your car, refer to your owners manual.

Great explanation...I fixed it .thanks for the help
Thank you so much for this very informative video!
Its an amazing video. Thanx for the clear explanations.
Thanks!
Nice video! That controller is also used for a DRL (daytime running lights) in US and CA models.
By the way, the fuses in 100pcs box, could be dangerous if they are cheap Chinese make. They don’t blow when needed. So you should check them.. better to get them at the local shops not online.
Well, the thing is all of them are Chinese. How would you check them though?
DIY-time not all of them... Chinese fake ones are dangerous. If you go to your local store, you can get proper ones, as fake ones are illegal to sell in us stores.

Now I really want to put together some kind of device to test them...

Nice work.
Thanks!
thank you bro
Thanks man
How do you check and replace your horn relay?
My paddle shifters, horn, and volume up and down buttons are not working. It is possible the wheel was replaced poorly? Or the fuse box is broken? I have a 2012 is250
Since its multiple items and this is after replacing wheel, sounds more like electrical connector is not plugged in all the way or damaged. Or replacement wheel was defective in the first place. You can try to connect your old wheel and see if everything works again. Then you’ll know its not fuses or connector.
is it possible that it is a fuse if the horn DOES work with the remote alarm but just not from the steering wheel? Replacing the spiral cable assembly is a $1200 fix and supposedly pretty hard to DIY.
:(
Sometimes alarm system has its own independent speaker, thats why it works when using remote. Try to check the horn fuse.
I just replaced the spiral cable that I found in the junk yard for 15 dlls and it was pretty easy to install, it also control all the functions on your steering wheel, cruise control and blinkers.
Way to go!
Very good for help person
👌🏻
I need help for LS 430 2003 model
Order them thank you will come to let you know if I got it fixed
I need help for a es 300 is it the same
It might be a little different, but you should be able to find the correct fuse on the diagram under fuse box cover or in your owners manual.
Kudos for the Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you considered - Parlandealey Vanish Ringworm Process (do a search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive product for revealing how to repair your vehicle minus the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my m8 finally got cool success with it.
I changed the fuse but the horn still don’t work. What do you think it may be
Shorted or open circuit possibly.
clock spring
@@DIYtimeTRD I had the same issue. I changed the fuse to the spare one included but the horn still doesn't work.
Do I need to bring it to a mechanic to fix the short circuit? Or perhaps the replacement fuse is also blown for some reason?
@@stephanmaritz3924 I have the same issue but my airbag light isn't on. And my cruise control works. Is it still the clock spring or probably the fuse?
I found this video again after I asked about the horn sounding different, and I realized that my horn must be different since I am in the US I guess it’s possible mine is a much lower tone with a light one in behind it I think it’s a 400hz and 600hz horn I think, maybe not but I know it’s different but it is ridiculously loud, but I’d rather have this horn
Its because of the editing. I sped up the shot where I test the horn, to keep this video short, but it changed the horn pitch...
@@DIYtimeTRD gotcha, that makes sense now haha, that would be a nice horn though lol
😁
Mine is not the fuse, I had it checked and the fuse is working. My horn works sometimes when I turn the car to the left or right. I think is something else in my case 😭
I'm in the same boat 😢
Had a Lexus service rep suggest that the problem is most likely in the steering column. Mine doesn't work no matter what direction you turn the steering wheel so I'm exploring other possibilities before pulling the steering wheel. Always try the simpler solutions first.
Misleading title. This is not "fix broken horn on car". This is "replace blown horn fuse on your car."
Not really. From an average car owner standpoint, when their horn is not working, they have no clue what's wrong. They will type "how to fix a broken horn" in search. This video would never be found with the title you suggest. Those who know it's a fuse, don't need to watch this video anyways.
@@DIYtimeTRD well said DIY
It's not the fuse it's the steering wheel
