Hyped to watch this one. Maru vs Serral guaranteed to be a good series!
The only reason why we think it will be a good series is because they don't play against each other enough, and Serral is the first non-Korean that we deemed can reliably beat Koreans. But alas, that kid did not join Code S, so we will never know how good he really is. Perhaps never, because this game has factually declined since the big scandal.
Maru vs TY was way more interesting than this. Or any of the Korean Gods that Maru had to fight against. But his rivalry against TY is unmatched because of how they went toe to toe against each other.
We will never see God Zest and God Innovation ever again, at least the level of competition during the ProLeague days. Cross-fingers, we'll see a new healthy RTS pro-scene, Parting is already dominating in SG.
I love that Serral pulled so many libs out of siege mode that they ended up melting the vipers

Thanks to Harstem I have seen every single one of these matches each night. I cant wait for you to cast some real bangers in this tournament. Surprisingly, IMO, There are some really PvP bangers, and later on Serral really steps up his game to a new level. Cant wait to see your reaction on more of this tournament.

Serral won ESL Winter Regional on the same patch and map pool, so whats the excuse?
Zergs have been dominating sc2 because they were broken, now they gotta step up thier game. In-sted of spamming banelings running over armies just to instantly make 100 supply of zerglings & banes to finish the job
Maru really pulled out his best builds for serral. Almost justifying his trolling in earlier tournaments.

Can anyone explain why Serral never went for a hive tech army (lurker, ultra or brood)? Outside of vipers he was on a lair tech army for all of both games. Weird
Maru’s mass ghost/lib melts hive tech units, plus it might just be a stylistic choice by Serral
for both maps there are so many routes for bio army to hit zerg bases, maybe thats why he sticked to high mobility ling bane hydra
Lurker sucks against mas libs/ghost, Ultra is a good choice only if Zerg can hit the big Fungal and smash the Terran army otherwise they also trade worse against Libs/Ghost. Broodlord is a decent choice imo but Terran can just make Thors/Viking and the fight would still be a toss up.
Because Ultralisks are too derpy and Brood Lords too slow given the upgrades Terran has received, stick to tier 2 till they fix it is basically the meta now.

The only reason Serral is even in this video is because he was the first foreigner that was not expected to be destroyed like all foreigners before the Korean-ban. And it was a long time since the big scandal happened which was the beginning of the end of SC2.

I don't understand the commentary on the first game. Serral was playing solid, even great constantly. Yet, the commentary was like "he's so far behind", "first time in supply lead in a long time" etc. etc. Were we watching the same game?

Maru is the GOAT. Serral only donimated once maru, i mean terran, was nerfed in 2019.
@@totalprocall6894 Zerg is still way too powerful, but the last patch tipped the scale a tiny bit, which helped Maru. And Maru seems to have finally gotten out of his low point.

Oh yeah, well nerf queens, creep, overlord vision, vipers, etc etc first...terran have been nerfed for years since 2019, co-incedentally when serral started dominated.

Maru played BioMine Ghost/Lib late game in both games 1&2 which is what Clem played every round in the DreamHack playoffs. BioTank into Turtle Mech is the old meta, but Maru can adapt and he’s still currently the #2 Terran on Aligulac.
@@Terracronz Maru played that style first againts Serral back in Nov for their WTL match, way before DH Atlanta. So I would say its Clem who took it and run with it during Atlanta. He definitely didnt play it against Serral in the EU Regional Grand Final and got bopped by Serral back then.
zerg completely destroyed by baneling nerf.
The baneling is still strong, plus they have SO many other broken units/inherent strengths.
I was about to comment this as well. Notice how it's always "The banelings couldn't connect!" or "Banes were too slow!" or "Banes got obliterated!"?. The only miniscule hope is to have burried banes which you can flank them with. The dual HP nerf and speed nerf is a total load of shit.

It’s the nerf to fungal dmg and the bane dmg vs light that’s shifted the meta away from TurtleMech towards Ghost/Lib. I will do the math now on how many marine shots in a 20 vs 20 fight, if the marines are +20 shots then yah it’s a pretty big deal.

Maru need to win more titles, not beating Serral, to get higher consideration for the GOAT title. And the GOAT title was not solely for Serral to begin with, somehow Rogue got swept asides is kinda disrespectful.
Maru is not even a contender for the GOAT title, he does not exist outside of Korea, and at this point Europe has all the top dogs in every race.
