Updating comment: Not sure if me getting back to some DIY is a good or a bad idea 😂 but I’m excited to see what whacky projects I can get me teeth stuck into! Lots of comments about the price of the workshop and trust me, I’m completely aware it’s a lot of money for a space like this but unfortunately in todays world that’s the price you have to pay (at least where I live in the UK). Some of the other units I looked at were well over £1000 per month which is crazy. Great thing about this space is I’m not tied into a contract and as you’ve seen, I’ve had free reign to do as I please. Fingers crossed it all works out, it should certainly make for some fun content. Also if you want to see more up to date and behind the scenes related things that I get up to in the workshop then follow me on Instagram @willswhereabouts 👊🏻
Can’t wait to see what you get up to
Get an alarm fitted on your unit asap mate!
@@deborahcocker7010you and me both haha
@@niche.quicheI will for sure 😊
Bad for you
Good for us
It’s wonderful wee man! You have your own space! £700 a month! We’ll all need to send you more money! ❤
Madness isn’t it, £700 for an old cow shed 😂 but that actually seems to be a reasonable price for renting a workshop down south
@@WillsWhereabouts I was thinking just that. How is that so expensive...
Brilliant.....I just love watching you do everything the wrong way 😅
It's like the return of Frank Spencer 😮
😂😂😂
“Next week on Willswhereabouts, Will receives a no fault eviction notice for the workshop”😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Ah hell nah 💀
The shelves should come with the X Brace to stabilise them.
I got these second hand so they didn’t have anything but I’ll remember for next time just to screw one in myself
I think you are doing exactly everything you need to be happy in that shop. Wonderful!
“What’s happened to my barnet”? I need to go to Turkey 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂 you coming with me
£700 a month!!!!!???? 😂 fack me
You’re telling me 😂😂
You were meant to buy cross braces for those shelves to stop them falling over! £2!
700 quid a month lol bloody nora
You tube must pay more than we think lol
Bloody expensive isn’t it, but for the area where I live it’s quite reasonable as most where like £1000 which is bonkers. Don’t live down south 😂😂
Here's to the future content and one of the most entertaining renovations.
Haha thanks very much
I'd live in the bastard if it saves money instantly. Live in the van, inside the unit.
But I've got an idea that might be useful one day.
I'm a lorry driver, which is kinda like vanlife but the vehicle is bigger.
Anyway, all haulage companies have to think about security. All those lorries parked up, could be full of valuable stuff. The cost of insurance will be astronomical, so to try to get cheaper insurance the haulage company often hire night security men.
I've seen a guy living in a caravan tucked away in the corner of the site, so they basically allow him to stay there as an employee. Electricity, water, safety and wages.
Just an emergency idea for if you ever find yourself with nowhere to live. Just approach the haulage companies and if you're lucky you could earn decent money for doing fuck all. And youd be locked in the yard so youd be also safe.
The security guy's job is basically to call the police if some scallywags were showing up on the cameras.
That water bottle would be great for a festival. Get all your “tablets” in!
Hi Will, you are a huge inspiration to me. I'm parroting other commenters saying this but I appreciate you leave in your mistakes and are totally honest in front of the camera. i dream of doing my own conversion someday and each video of yours I watch reinforces the belief that someday I'll be able to.
Do you have any advice for somebody right at the beginning? I've already made several designs while I save up to get a van, but I'm not sure what else to do to prepare myself apart from watching countless videos of people doing their own vans.
Is there anything you wish you took more time on at the start of your journey?
Thanks for sharing :-)
You make laugh so much 😂 I so enjoy your videos. I live in the States (Arizona) and I really enjoy seeing the UK thru you
Thanks Jayne! Hoping I can make it to the states one day for some epic travels in an RV
What can u get for about 3-4.5k total? I’m homeless in a month and want a van. Bed width ways with a working desk and good chair. Being raw vegan I don’t need any kitchen… consistent internet critical
Will this was a great blog so nice to see you back to you old self you sure but a lot of effort into the workshop to get it nice and clean as we know nothing is dust proof but you will find it so easy to keep clean,so where is the bed and loo going lol so nice to Emma helping you such a lovely girl newish she was mine lol to old now to keep a young lady happy mmmm say no more, well it’s dinner time so car h you later 🙏🌹👍🙌🤬‼️😘🥃🦵🎉🧑🦽🌑
With a space like that, you can create a massive business, building camper vans for others, you done a great job on Ur van, good luck fella, looking forward to watching whatever u do from now on mate 👌👊🏻
Thanks mate who knows what the future holds but I’m excited to get back building some things
Hi Will, curious what area this is? Is there anymore to rent? Curious if you'd sub let or let others build there too? Love to get involved, nearly finished my van now
The fact that the selves and so were put in place before doing the whole floor. Now there is non painted part under the tiles... You will not see them but it tickles my OCD.
Looks great. But Fill that window in the door. Anyone can see you have tools in the back .
£700 a month, i pay less than that for my house , barmy springs to mind , in the nicest possible way , 😂🤣😗
I totally agree 😂, but unfortunately that’s the price of a space like this where I live
Love your videos,Will. I'm suffering with depression at the moment but your videos always make me smile. So glad I found your channel,it's great,I love your sense of humour and general wackiness.
As a fellow sufferer, wishing you lots of love. ❤❤❤
@@jaynekittycat9252 right back at you x
Sorry to hear your suffering Lyn but glad the videos can help! You’re certainly not alone and sending lots of love 🥰
Get some strip lights for the black walls, as it'll be dark working under a van
Another video with more blood, sweat, tears and probably lots of cursing.
It wouldn’t be anything else would it 😂
700 a month!
Wtf!
Robbery.
I live in london and altough i only rent a standard car sized garage, i only pay 100pm.
IN LONDON.
Price you pay for living in the most expensive county in the UK.
Man, I would love to have some beers with you ;) When and where !!! ;)
I thought they sold edge pieces for those tiles? You probably found the cheapest solution though.
Don't knock those flooring protectors. I cladded the external of my shed in it (back and sides), then some exposed bits had metal sheeting on or featheredge. Has worked a treat and still going fine 3 years on. Not a cheap price, but then that;s the southern elements I think!! Honestly Will seeing some of your methods and mishaps are just brilliant. Fair play for you having a go, but I don't think you're quite up there with DIY, but I like your perserverance!!!
Perseverance is key and my DIY skills can only improve
that back wall i get get in your shed m8 need to brick it up to the top and there brick missing on side wall i can get in from next door
I thought the entire point of van life was to escape the daily costs of living?
And Will goes off and pays more for a cheaply renovated barn to park his already costly van then he would for a typical one bedroom flat.🤷♂️
Makes sense Frank.
Where is Betty when you make these decisions ffs?🤦♂️
I don’t live in my van which I’ve mentioned a few times but I can still enjoy van life. If you can find a one bedroom flat down south for £700 let me know as that’s a bargain now days
The bloody down side is the rent !!
Tell me about it! Expensive for what it is but if you do any research into spaces like this where I live some are even more
W’re renting a 2000sq ft (almost 4x the size of that unit) for £850, it has 3 phase electric, water and massive driveway…..the tenants isn’t paying the full rent because we increase it last year and will only pay the previous amount and want do any work / maintenance on the place.
He isn’t going to be there much longer and we don’t think we’ll rent it again, it’s just to much agro for so little……
@@jno5yeah sounds like so much agro - maybe seek get some therapy with income 😉
@@jno5 I'm probably thick but I don't understand. You say you're renting it but then say you have tenants. What am I missing? Are you working in it or renting then subletting?
@@wanderer4life - We own a workshop that we are renting out but the tenant isn’t good, so we’re in the process of evicting him…..
Will..grab yourself a lidl 12v stapler / nailer ...so much easier and surprisingly powerful ..
Ill have to grab one of those
Love your vlogs. The workshop looks a 1000 times better, well worth the effort. I just have a quick question, why didn't you use the step ladders to put up the back covering rather than the pallet?
Annoyingly I didn’t have them with me until a few days later so had to use what I could in the beginning
Why does the image of giving toddlers matches to play with come to mind? Lol 😆 but seriously: I'm so jealous 🙂
😂😂😂 plenty more playing to be done
Ok you’re missing a whiteboard, fridge for your workshop (and mouse traps). Is there a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector? Good luck !!
A whiteboard has been ordered!
Why would you spend all that money doing up a workshop which isn’t even ypurs ? Plus 700 quid a month that’s more than a mortgage , absolutely crazy
Because I wanted it to be a nice place to work 😂
Great contents will .love it and looking forward to what ever comes 😊
Why would you spend your own money adding value to a rented unit? Adding insulation at your own cost is a bit daft, especially since you're paying £700 per month and improving the place for the owners. Saw you coming from a mile off 😅
It’s simple isn’t it 😂! So it’s a place that I want to work in which is 100x nicer than when I moved in! Who wants to breathe dirty dust in all day everyday
Good vid! I would’ve turned it into a gym but whatevs 😂
Would probably have just sprayed the walls, including the mortar…1/2 days work and job done!
It certainly would have been quicker but wouldn’t have looked as good as it does in my opinion
I saw that bottle bottle on Love Sundays channel earlier and was impressed. It looks like it does the job! :)
It’s a cracking bottle
Cannot, for the life of me, figure out why you put the shelves and matting back in, leaving exposed concrete (dust and moisture source) instead of sealing and painting the entire floor! 😅
Haha you’ve not watched the entire video yet 😂
ok Will....I'm not even half way through the video and I am completely wiped out!!!!! I will say one word....and of course it is prob one you don't particularly like and that is PATIENCE!!!!! You had a wonderful idea with renting this place......you just got a little over anxious thats all. As well...what you're doing takes time...lots of time......but will be worth it in the end so please don't give up. Geeze...just think about how much money you will make by turning these vintage campers into wonderful homes people can live or vacation in. I wish I were there and could help in some way....but you will have to find another helper. Your girlfriend whoever she is at the time. Anyway.....remember...patience. Great time and place to learn this! hugs
Haha patience is probably the biggest thing I’ve learnt over the last year or so. Things take time and always take 100x longer than you think! I’m excited to see what’s to come
Will put blue tac on the end of your bit in the drill then push screw on to it stops it falling😂
Branding is important.. WW logos all over and on the walls
one of them £30 Llidl spray guns would have sorted the walls right out. Cracking unit though
I did look at spray guns but because I needed masonry paint I’m not sure a cheaper gun would have done the job
will you end up buying this place or getting your own you think
I've got a dewalt battery and impact gun you can have. I'm a makita guy and the dewalt is gathering dust. Lol send me a address and I'll post it to you Will:)
Hah mate if you’re serious ping me an email will@willswhereabouts.com
Good luck with the unit but don't know how you'll make it work,£700 is a lot to find on top of your other living expenses🤔
£700 was actually quite reasonable if you compare it to other spaces of the same size in the area that I live! Some where going for £1000
Just a thought, but for filming and also projects some LED batons along the walls would be useful…
Yea that’s a good idea
when making an ikea shelf is harder than building a camper van
Don't listen to the idiot doubters great work
Bless her, she is soooo patient lol
Hey Will, I discovered your channel via that ‘unemployed, single, living with parents’ video from 3 years ago. That video inspired me to be more optimistic and work harder. I hope you’re in much a better place now mentally. Cheers ❤
Thanks mate, definitely in a much better place but like most people I still have my down days!
Laurel and hardy have nothing on you two!😂
😂😂
27:05 Are you referring to the cement or something else 😂
😂😂 who knows
Floors get dirty. That is something that does not need to be fretted over.
Love your vids. They are so entertaining. Altho as a sparky I did get worried when you jet washed by the socket outlets 😂😂. Keep up the class vids.
😂😂 no sockets were harmed in the making of this video
Just found your channel the other day and started watching all your content. Love your style man and looking forward to more. This shop was awesome! Thank you for some of the best content on youtube!
Thanks so much mate
Hey Will - you are mental and I loved it!! One quick tip to support the ikea shelves - add an X cross brace in the back and they will stand up without being attached to the wall.
Good to know in case you want a set to be stand alone if you move things around for the unteenth time 😂😂😂
Haha hopefully I don’t move anything else around but I will certainly add a brace on the back for future projects
This is where you belong, looking forward to some more slapstick van builds 😆
😂😂 I’m hoping that in time my slapstick skills will be improved
It looks awesome Will, big ups to your lovely GF for helping you out you do make me laugh. 😂
😁
Will, u need to fill in those cracks at the top of the side walls otherwise more invisible dust particles are going to get in 😂 also the door has some cracks that are going to need seeing to 😂 good luck!! Ps. Dont forget to check the roof
Hah for the moment it’s as dust free as I can get it, but the roof deffo needs some improvement
Looks good Will, although the grout in the brickwork looks yellow and a bit rank 😂❤👍🏻
😂 I wanted to keep it in as I think it looks way better than just pairing the whole thing grey haha
😂😂😂 brilliant mate! Keep going bro 👊🏼 you where built for this
Legend!
Ii love the serie already. Will hurting himself by building.
😂 nothing changes
Could have done an epoxy pouring floor. Fills in the cracks and gives it a colour.
I did think to screed the floor but thought that might be a little over the top 😂
why is drinking from plastic bottles bad for your health?
I'd rather avoid the potentially harmful plastic particles entering my body if I can ❌
Will.
I need to complain about something important. You were using a mask that has no right to exist. What you should do is go to a proper PPE shop and get yourself a face hugging respirator with filters you can either replace or swap them to the correct verity. A proper mask should seal over your face and not leave any gaps, those paper things are useless.
Now rant over...
Doing what you did to the shed was probably the best idea, you'll find it easy to keep clean and it'll feel nice. I wouldn't have mad a cup of tea in it as it was in the beginning, but as it is now I'd even cook in it. Well done.
Before I forget. If you fill holes in the floor again with cement, just go over the top of it with a brush and itll blend the new into the old.
And remember that you're awesome! 😎👍
Thanks for the tips mate I’ll make sure to get a proper mask for next time! And thanks very much I’m happy with how it’s come out, I’ll certainly be doing some cooking in there. Also I’ll have to remember that tip about the brush with cement as I found it tricky to level it out
@@WillsWhereabouts
Anything to help the future you. 😀
Can't wait to see what chaos happens. 😆
you’ve come a long way Will, super proud of you 🫡

You and your girlfriend are very cute together!
Great stuff will...if u were up north I'd be wanting to rent it off u for a week or 2 to complete my van off, good idea though to help pay some rent👍
I’d be happy to share the unit with someone
I’d be happy to share the unit with someone
That unit in wales would have cost you £450 a month and you would not need to do any work , my m8 hs 3 of them.
Sadly I’m not in Wales tho hah
Awesome space Will, you have made it look a million times better after your hard work.
Glad you like the place and I am looking forward to the future videos that you will be doing in it. Keep up the good work my man. 👍🏻
Thanks mate, should be great to have my own space to play around with
Might want to add some sound damping panels for filming. Wow that was some rain.
Yea that would be a great idea
those shelves deffo had brace bits to go on the back
All them tools in there if put a cctv up and block the window up on the door stop thief’s seeing in
I will do, thanks mate
£700 per month! WHAT!?
Expensive I know, but you look at most spaces like this near me and they’re even more expensive
They see him coming.
I guess this is what happens when you become familiar to people.
Ahh a youtuber, he can afford it...
700pcm Thank-you.
I could build that entire unit for less than 700.
I’m not familiar to most people 😂
Im a gardeber, I drive a medium van with my tools, it gets filthy, I am constantly cleaning izzy, each year I do a deep clean and renovate the ply, put down flooring and everything, I have custom mats in the front...why, its my sanctuary, my own space while I work, I love my van and although could do with a bigger one and could even buy a new big van, I prefer to keep Izzy, I had her from new, she is now 5 years old, and I treat her like she is still brand new. I totally get why you want to do what your doing.
Mate I couldn’t agree more, if it’s a space you’ll use a lot then why not make it nice and spend the time and money to get it how you want it 👊🏻
@@WillsWhereabouts I belive it to be very motivational, even on bad days, I am more motivated when izzy is smelling nice and is clean. also its goot to show potential customers what kind of work I do clean van clean work, a clean workshop will be a pleasure to see you work in rather than an dingy garage, so its good for your customer...US!
Yes 100% although after a few days in the workshop it’s an absolute mess 😂
Hi Will, can’t believe you didn’t paint underneath the floor mats 🤷🏼♂️ you are very similar in the ways I do things 👏🏻
Haha I did consider it I must say
I've never seen anyone paint blockwork before but not the joints Lol but i guess that was the look you were going for nice one Will
Hah yea it was the way I wanted it to look instead of painting the whole thing
Do this guy always have something up in his nose with his nasal voice....?
😂😂 no but I was sick towards the end of the video
Nice work Will, look forward to seeing some van builds!
More to come!
Has someone been watching Chromes channel lately? :)
Hah I don’t actually watch Vancity van life but I do know he’s got his own shop
The burning of the fingers and dropping the screw was funny. It happens to the best of us - I'm a plumber and still do this way too much. Project is coming along nicely, and filming it will be great for you to look back on!
Houfly u will still a life 😂😂🤣 just don't kill ur self using power tools
I’ll try not too 😂
Fantastic! Love it! Also very jealous of the space! Get some of those big light panels for the ceiling to make lighting your videos a breeze.

Yes I think so, thankfully it’s getting hotter now so will wait until winter
