Wargambling: we have determined that yodo and Venezia are too effective at spotting submarines, so we have limited the submarine spotting consumable to minimap only, and reverted the plane based asw to ship based.
I find it quite ironic that WG gives sub hunting consumables to Italy and Japan. Both countries with arguably the worse anti-submarine technology and anti-submarine performance during the war. While leaving out the allied nations like the US and UK, which were at the forefront of anti-submarine warfare.
because Italy and Japan lines are the lines in the game with the least amount of consumables in the game. Could you imagine if they had to program and add ANOTHER consumable slot for US cruisers? of courst not, their only devs left when they lost sidney

Anti sub warfare in the IJN was quite garbage but Italian frigates, DDS and ships managed to inflict quite a lot of losses to the RN submarine fleet in the Mediterranean

The Light Cruisers however would have to have it slotted into a existing slot. Like say, Hydro or Def AA or Submarine Surveillance if i had to guess, you know WG would do us dirty like that. Or a smarter idea would be to put RADAR and SUBMARINE SURVEILLANCE in the same slot, now that would be a interesting choice to make. Cus lets be Real, unless your going for a VERY SPECIFIC BUILD, Radar has no competition for its Slot.
Submarines will be complaining how its "unfair" that they are crossfired in the middle of the map - just like any other class usually is if they risk going there.
OP if it can farm damage without being shot at and spotted. Made of rice paper when it is shot at. Quickly turned into a flaming wreck and sent back to the port if the players on the other team have a half a brain between them.

I started playing a week ago after an almost 2 years break and feel fresh as hell and full of desire to play. I noticed some nice QOF changes here and there but generally nothing super ground breaking so far and I warmed up surprisingly quickly. Economic bonuses and flags are separated and that gave me a shit ton of super big economic buffs.

No joke submarine players will be complaining how Zao and Yodo are now "overpowered" without sarcasm, just because they cant do to them what they usually do to other ships - get all up in their grill without being detected. Imagine destroyers complaining that they are detected at 6km range, while subs get more torpedo range and cry about being detected at 7km :D
Light cruisers need airstrike the most yet don't have it? - Wooster, Mino etc... I played a game in a Hector, unfortunately got the flank with the sub, tried everything from shooting to torpedoes, nothing worked, I had RPF and knew where he was, all I could do is dodge or smoke. I even doubled back out of smoke to catch him on the surface but he was slightly below suface detecting at air detection range, so the 3km Hector hydro didn't work either. The closest I got to a enemy ship was 16kms, we lost on points I had barely survived and caused zero damage😢. Very next game no sub and got a 260k damage game. You can see right there why subs are so powerful atm.

Having played up the line I disagree. You need to use the guns as the torps aren't good enough by themselves and the PA cruisers do that better. I found most success in investing in guns and just spamming out torps when possible. The line is pretty sub-par, but you can make them work.

Yodo is not a bad choice to do a Sub hunt either, it is stealthy giving enemy subs little room to react. Sonar a destroy enemy subs. Plus, she can combine forces with Hindenburg as well hence Hindi now have Aircraft ASW. Making Hindi tank the shells while Yodo or Vannes doing the Sonar hunt in the smoke. Combine Sonar and Hydro making subs have impossible time to counter.

I play Massachusetts as my favorite ship, it’s one major flaw is that is ASW planes have a range of 5.5 km so it gets torn up by submarines a lot,
Even if it has 20km ASW range, its irrelevant when the submarine just stays invisible even right next to you.
