Behind the Scenes: Shooting our Mashatu - Land of the Giants, Coffee Table Book.
Some 20 years ago we crossed the Limpopo River from South Africa into Botswana and the Northern Tuli Game Reserve to start work on our book called Tuli - Land of Giants, which was to become our favourite coffee table book.
Now in 2024, we've published an update to it, under the name of Mashatu - Land of the Giants. (Have a look at www.mashatubook...).
Actually, it's way more than an update. For all intents and purposes it's a completely new book. We shot a lot of new images using a range of the latest Sony cameras and lenses, and a superb creative team from Cape Town handled the publishing and design. In addition Pat tweaked the text, making it even more accessible and enjoyable. Repro and printing has evolved in leaps and bounds over the last 20 years as well, so all in all you can look forward to a comprehensive coffee table book, full of colour and information about this spectacular game reserve and its wildlife.
As an added bonus, we've linked some of the photographs in the book to short videos using QR codes that bring the photographs to life with sounds of the African bush - which will make you want to head off to Mashatu immediately!
