There aren't speed settings because the point is to build scale. If you could just build 2-3 of something and then fast forward at 20 times there would be no points in puzzling out how to scale to making 50-60 a second instead of 1
also you have additional objectives to build towards while the objectives you've already set up are trickling in. if this were factorio where you can only research 1 thing & once that research is set up you have nothing to do, i'd understand the need, but in this game i think they've solved the need for a fast forward with good design
Oh no! Well, that sucks, but on the other hand, I'm super excited this is finally coming out! Thank you for the hard work on such an amazing looking game, can't wait to get to play with it so soon :)
Oh no, I hope I didn't break the embargo by accident! The time I was given was 6 am EDT and I was so excited to get my coverage up that I matched it instead of my usual morning upload time. Either way I had a blast with this video and I cannot wait to find the time to play more Shapez 2. Edit: yeah looks like this was a classic case of time zones. I was told 6 am EDT, but I also see 4 am PDT in the email and should have asked for clarification. Terribly sorry about that!
One of the best changes in the game is the Anchor system. When placing belts you no longer need to make a bunch of little belts anymore. As you are placing the belt down just press C to create Anchor points. Then the belt placement will continue like that was the first one you placed.
Another tip - when you build any building you have a window showing you the ratios for this building. The ratios will change every time you upgrade the belts/stackers/destroyers.
@@sindradesire6041this, plus I would love if they didn’t have any “this machine needs 1.67 x per second, and other machine 2 x per second, so therefore you need a fraction of a machine….” Just keep it relatively simple please.
This game amaze me. Its can make me feel so brillant yet so stupid. Also the Dopamine Hit you get when you complete a complex shape and objective is just addictive. The simplicity makes it its complexity.
I'm so glad the dev made changes to belt splitting and merging. The first game you had to manually place splitters and mergers similar to how it's done in Factorio. In the sequel the game automatically places these for you, and it is such a huge quality-of-life feature.
fyi there is a toggle in the settings to turn off the tutorial, i did that right away and struggled later to figure out how to lower / raise my belt to other levels :D
It’s funny how if you’re an hour into a game and still in the tutorial, it either means that the game is going to be amazing, or complete trash. I don’t think I need to say which of the two this game is.
Hi @wanderbot or anyone in the comments would you say this is similar to factorio? Factorio is a game that's been on my radar for a while I just haven't pulled the trigger. Both games look interesting.
It’s only similar in the fact that they are both factory games. This one is a lot more puzzle solving/efficiency, while factorio is more base building/exploration/efficiency open world. Similar, both good, but def different
@@dak1dbuggz factorio is a great game. But its a much bigger deeper game than shapes. This is a puzzle/logistics game about moving things around to make specific designs. Factorio has base mechanics as there are bugs that are attacking you and its not as much of a puzzle as it is just logistics and base defense.
@@dak1dbuggzI 100% would and most of Steam users would hahaha for real though it’s more combat and exploration which I personally enjoy so yes I enjoy the game a lot!
They're similar in their core gameplay, in the sense that they both involve conveyor belt and factories, and that they both encourage a pursuit for efficiency in their own way. But they are pretty different in almost every other aspect: * Factorio has a huge variety of processes and recipes. You will have to experiment with ore gathering, smelting, conveyor belts, power management, liquid processing, railroads, robotics, nuclear power, etc. Shapez has only a single mean of transportation, a handful of buildings, and once you've unlocked all the base buildings, you have all the puzzle pieces to do everything the game has to throw at you. * Factorio is a survival game with enemies, resource scarcity, and a cost for everything, you'll even have to fight your way through bugs to unlock new terrain. Shapez has no loss condition, infinite resources, infinite space, and the only cost for things is time. * Factorio has a rigid tech tree with fixed recipes. Shapez has procedural recipes, which means there are seemingly countless different items you can craft, but is completely transparent about them (you know exactly how to build stuff as soon as you see it, the beauty is how compact/efficient/elegant/fast you can make it). I'd say Shapez is a more relaxed experience than Factorio, and is more focused towards elegant layouts. Whereas Factorio is a lot deeper, somewhat stressful depending on the aliens situation, but more satisfying to scale up.
in games, i like to create something that makes myself redundant, when i finally succeed in programming a factory that can play by itself (and yet, i still will work on it to make it faster and faster and faster). unlike in reallife where you want to keep your job. LOL
"Shapez 2 Is The Smartest Factory Builder" It's an elegant game, but it's not smart, smart games don't exist, because that implies intelligence. No, it's the intelligence of the player that makes the difference, just like in an elegant game like chess.
it is only a matter of definition, how many levels of a game you consider to be "tutorial", and whenever you unlock new features like space, colors, trains, etc, you could complain to get partial "tutorials" again. But in this game, the tutorial parts are surprisingly non-annoying since you don't NEED to follow specific orders (like "place xx here" and "place yyy there"), and can look at good instruction videos in the ingame handbook.
in shapez1, i spent a lot of time (practically unlimited, if you want) in building the "final MAM" (make anything machine) to automatically play the game, with as much time as you want to improve the existing factory and optimize it more and more. in addition there are options for difficulty and for different shapez, more complicated ones, as well as hexagonal. even without "replaying", you should be able to play and improve it "forever"
it is just the first version that released to EA a few days ago. give it some more time ... (i hate nothing more than premature achievements that are updated, cleared and changed all the time)

Came here to say this! In the beginning it takes 6 Stackers for a full belt, cutters 3, etc...
Why just can't every factory game have this feature. This would be so awesome

That last minute of the video when Wander zooms out and you recognize that the area map is just shapez ONE... Insane! I love these devs!
The spaghetti factory may be fine but back at 1:16 you did "promise" to strive for no spaghetti.

Wanderbots out here sounding like me trying to talk at the start. This looks like a great upgrade to the original!
Just played this for a while, and you will never know the enlightenment I went through when I unlocked space platforms
All the goal shapes in the same category are based on each other. You shouldn't delete all the buildings after each shape and start over from scratch
inefficiency of your factory is infuriating, but glad you liked it. had so much fun with this game.
Shapez music is the best music. I'm glad they kept it from the first game.

Man these parts are so infuriating 6:27 7:50 8:34 (it literally says while dragging)
15:55 couldn't you just cut the existing shape in half, instead of getting rid of everything?
Yes
That Probably was the Intention
There’s a machine that does that that he didn’t have unlocked yet
@@izzy3120he just wouldn't be able to split it into two parts. You are entirely able to use the half deleter on stacked shapes
@@robobuilder1335 I thought they were referring to using the cutter instead of the deleter
A new misspelling of the name? Congrats, Wombat :D
At 15:50, why did you destroy that whole factory? You could have just put spliters after they combined.
fyi there is a toggle in the settings to turn off the tutorial, i did that right away and struggled later to figure out how to lower / raise my belt to other levels :D
Lol never turn off tutorial. You can't "play the game" without doing the tutoral.
Played this for 6 hours so far today, loving it so much, the devs did a great job
Would happily see more of this!
what does a full LP of this game look like...and can we see it?
Wabboi for the win!

Was it by chance called Shapez 1? 😅
Should try techtonica a first person story factory mining game

@tobsprGames: Free Shapes 3 idea for y'all! Factories of factories ala Spore progression :D
You don’t get speed because of task research and how hard you can scale since stuff is free

the moment i saw it i bought it im already downloading it
I don't know why but the soundtrack reminds of a slower paced Brotato? I can't unhear it, or I'm totally cooked.
nvm it was just the one soundtrack
This is one of those games which I am scared to get, because I know that I will spend far, far too much time playing it.
