the "stoned kangaroo" bit is about the concept of a kangaroo court, which basically ignores due process and already has a verdict drawn up before the trial even begins. great reaction bud, spiral out.
@@baconator1550except all those mounting piles of evidence, like unquestioned actual recorded phone calls. You’re a sheep that thinks he’s not the sheep. Pledge allegiance to the country not a politician.
Grab your holy shit bar, this is gonna be a wild ride and i can promise you, you will not regret it. This hole your about to dive into will blow your mind. The entire band is on a whole other level. Extremely excited to see you react to more Tool.
Yeah, the whole song is a (maybe no so) hidden double...The Pot is a reference to drugs, he also mentions being high and to refer, which phonetically sounds like reefer, but the second layer is criticizing those who would look down on drug users, the foot in mouth line, the kangaroo court lines, waving one's finger, to be HIGH-and-mighty or arrogant, and finally the title The Pot, referring to the old saying "The pot calling the kettle black." which the chorus echos, "You pissed all over my black kettle." So basically IMHO, "Don't criticize others until understand what you are criticizing and have taken a good look at yourself to avoid hypocrisy."
Guitarist’s name is Adam. He’s better at making the guitar sounds like a wounded animal than anybody else. However, the “guitar solos” in this song were actually the bass player, Justin, and done on bass. He’s pretty good at the wounded animal noises too.
Loved the reaction! Few preemptive helpful tips on future tool reacts for ya: - Avoid any official music videos for a first react. They're awesome art, but super disturbing and we're here for the music react :D - Though a react of the videos as their own, second thing would be awesome - Lots of great lyrics as you've seen, might pull them up. Tool keeps the singer low in the mix, especially on other songs - A few songs should be played together and are really kind of a single experience. Some are more obvious than others, so just do a quick search beforehand Can't wait for more!
I will second that with a comment instead of a like *to drive it home more*! I want to add: Try not to spend too much time on the pauses. It can take you out of the atmosphere of the songs. If you feel like you want to talk a lot, do it, but consider rewinding 5 seconds (tap on keyboard arrow left) before continuing. As for the lyrics: you seem like you enjoy the music, so if you feel like reading the lyrics distracts you from that enjoyment, save it up for after the reaction and go into a deep dive! They show immense growth throughout the years and you might find something in there that grabs your very soul (even if the Pot is not much to go on). But before anything, you just do you and stay real, we will notice. These are just suggestions from a long time Tool Reaction viewer, feel free to disregard them as you see fit, but try to stay conscious in that decision. The Tool Army will be there soon, so I hope you can free yourself of the hype and swing on the spiral of their music 🌀
Tool's guitarist is quite a genius, I agree. He actually was involved with the design of the images of dinosaurs in the original Jurassic Park film. No one had ever seen special effects that photorealistic at the time.
The pot is a metaphor for the pot calling the kettle black. The lyrics say it all. When you pissed all over my black kettle, you must've been high. Saying they've lost their minds and fucked with the wrong person. The dysfunction of the kangaroo court.
Kangaroo is a phrase that was a little before your time. it refers to a "Kangaroo Court" which is basically a mockery of a legal system where all laws and standards are ignored and the people in charge do whatever they want. Also your favorite guitar part is actually Justin on the bass. it took me a few times listening to the song to catch that.
Just found your reacts like 30 minutes ago and finished a couple of SOAD ones, and now you're starting your Tool journey. Can't wait to see more! Spiral out!

Great reaction. The song is named The Pot for a reason. I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "the pot calling the kettle black". It's about someone who is hypocritical. They accuse everyone else of doing certain things that they themselves are doing !! They just believe they are entitled to do as they please, but the rest of us have to follow rules.

I was there. Rage Against The Machine started at noon on Main Stage, Tool was awesome but should have been on Main Stage, then Alice In Chains were second last band and they were awesome. When they were done, almost everyone left the Parc leaving only about 100 people left to watch Primus lol.

It's my understanding that the "kangaroo" is some politician that either picked a fight with Maynard in some way or was caught up in some web of deceit and he just had to say something. That's why Maynard is a legend.

It’s full of metaphors and you can get lost in it for sure, it’s a totally different sound than tool aside from Maynard’s unique vocal tone.
Hell of a jam! Justin Chancellor, the bassist with a hell of a setup, created a hell of a beat. That solo was all bass and the growl you hear before the breakdown with Justin and a kick ass Foxx Fuzz pedal. Intense to say the least
I once heard a very compelling opinion on that this song is about: Someone told me it’s about a DA somewhere who cracked down disproportionately hard on marijuana-related crime, locked up a lot of people for relatively benign offenses, then was later caught with marijuana (hence the hypocrisy/you must have been high/kangaroo court/liar-lawyer themes)
Kangaroo court bro, ganja pliiize, the POT callin' the kettle black = hypocrisy is what this song's about. Long live Maynard, long live Tool, the greatest band of all time. Great reaction, thumb up!

A Kangaroo court is a term for a legal situation where your fate is decided and the whole ordeal is basically for looks.
