      @@broloading1754 true, but it turned out great. Didn’t want to buy two types of mud. This was the only patch and the rest of the mud was used for skimming the walls to cover the orange peel texture

      @@jillandtaylor what could have been a one day patch turned into a two maybe three days depending on how fast your joint compound dried due to the temperature

      I don't know what they're referring to as all wrong, but the mud application makes me cringe. I am a remodeler/finisher by trade. The smoother coat you get on the first coat, the less sanding you'll do, saving tie, energy and cleanup. There's too much mud under the tape in my opinion and then smooth it out more after the tape.

      @@jessicak664 I don’t typically do drywall, more finish carpentry, so I’m sure you have a lot more skill doing this. However, it wasn’t too bad to sand and the finished product looks great after the final skim coat.
