    I was very critical and biased towards Marsch in the prem but he's actually a great coach. He speaks so clearly and confidently and shows a lot of personality. I also think Marsch joining the Canadian team is such a bold move and big middle finger to the US football federation that I can't help but like him. He likes the pressure, and wants to prove people wrong. Other than wanting Argentina & Messi to win it again, if they somehow get a result I pray Canada goes all the way and wins it. I always had more faith in Canada over the USA because their culture is more compatible with football. Canada will forever be able to one up the USA if they win, and we will be there no matter what.

    • @jrcanuck1
      @jrcanuck1 12 днів тому

      @@levonlarson4048, Sorry but that is not true. Herdman was the 1st coach to bring Canada to great heights, having achieved being #1 in CONCACAF' in the 2022 qualifiers & having beaten both the U.S. & Mexico, by playing intelligent, fast paced exciting futbol/soccer. He too had these same qualities as Jesse & he was a terrific motivator. It's a shame that Canada played in the 'Group of Death' in that World cup. Still Canada & Herdman opened a lot of eyes around the world, when they outplayed the #2 ranked team in the world at that time in Belgium, but unfortunately lost 1-0.
      The only negative thing that Canadians could say about Herdman was that he showed that he was not Canadian, or born & raised Canadian, when he somewhat disrespected a very good Croatian team when he said that *we're going to go and 'F' Croatia". It was not a humble move & it kind of embarrassed the players & the country. It also gave Croatia additional incentive to beat Canada & they played their best game & Canada didn't. It was a big mistake on Herdman's part; but still, Herdman was a great Canadian coach & did a lot to make Canada proud.
      It's been a growth process & Jesse brings a lot of the same qualities as Herdman, which is why he was chosen. I do believe that he brings more tactical knowledge & humility.
      Go Jesse! Go Canada!

    Canada has been one of the best teams of the Copa and maybe one of the biggest surprises (at least for everyone who wasn't following its development), really, the coaching team and the players have all done an amazing job, in every sense. I suppose this has double merit if the country represented ain't a traditional football fanbase. Arriving to the match for the 3rd place between so many great teams is a tremendous achievement, and most people here in Argentina feel a lot of appreciation and respect for Canada selection. Best regards!

Portugal (2016), France (2018) and England getting to the final of Euro 2020 are examples of this being used successfully. It looks boring but Marsch has incredibly managed to pull this off with the Canadian team. Argentina are playing like this now as well.

    I do believe that this Canadian team will give it its best to play the best football that can come from this team. But realistically , Argentina is on top of its game and form now, a World Cup winning team, although the age of the team is a little on the older side, they have an enormous amount of experience and skill that honestly outclass this Canadian team.
    South American teams have decades of international experience and culturally , football is a national passion in those countries, hence it is a natural for those teams.
    Canada is an ice hockey and lacrosse country , soccer is not a popular sport in Canada in comparison. Soccer is not in bred in Canadians and hence would consider this sport to be in its infancy in Canada.
    But kudos to Canada for making it this far. If they can play at their top level, even if they lose , they should feel honoured to play against a team like Argentina.

    • @Schweini_1983
      @Schweini_1983 12 днів тому +5

      @anthonyboey3210 Soccer is the most played sport in Canada. There are more registered youth soccer players than hockey and lacrosse combined. We haven't done well in the past because the media doesn't care about it, and we didn't have a professional league. Thanks to the CPL and MLS, that is starting to change, hence why we are developing players like Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies. Regarding Argentina, they haven't played like Argentina and barely made it through against Equador. Canada certainly has a chance. Don't get it twisted

    • @jrcanuck1
      @jrcanuck1 12 днів тому +1

      anthonyboey, you are wsy underestimating the Canadian team & nation. While we fully respect Argentina, Canada has been playing soccer for many years & many of Canada's players parents or grandparents were immigrants to Canada & they came from countries in which futbol or soccer was their #1 sport.
      Canada was not high up in the rankings in basketball 10 years ago either; but now have the 2nd most players in both the NCAA & the NBA, after the U.S. & just won the bronze in the recent FIBA World cup & didn't have all of their best players & are ranked #2 in the world heading into the Paris Olympics.
      So Canada is by far, not just a hockey & Lacrosse nation & can achieve the highest levels in all sports.

      @@Schweini_1983 Good points. Not trying to get it twisted. Just trying to be a realist.
      The soccer ball is round, which means the game can certainly go either way, and Canada might just beat the Argentinian team. But the Canadian team is fairly young in experience in comparison to Messi and his team. The key thing for Canada is to be able to finish off the scoring chances presented to them, which is recent games, is rather weak. Case in point, Buchanan had a open goal to shoot the ball, and he completely messed it up. This is where experience comes in, the calmness of mind to steady yourself under stress and pressure from the opponent team, set yourself up and pop the ball into the awaiting goal net.

    • @anthonyboey3210
      @anthonyboey3210 12 днів тому

      @@jrcanuck1 True the game of soccer in Canada is slowly picking up some attention, and thanks to the MLS. But it is still not a very popular game in comparison to other sports like ice hockey. And yes, Canada has been involved in many international tournaments, but to be honest, as a team, much maturity is still needed in terms of game play, skill etc... Alfonso Davies is amazing, but he is only one player , Canada need more alfonso davies like players to populate and beef up the team.
      How do teams like England, France, Holland, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, do so well internationally (at least historically), because football is the No. 1 passion sport in those countries.
      MLS is good for Canada, however, it is not currently a passion for most Canadians, in comparison to ice hockey and Lacrosse.
      But I do not doubt that Soccer will at some point , become one of the more popular sport in Canada. Hopefully more talented players like Davies will appear, and there will be support in Canada to develop such talent that comes up.

    The saying "We have nothing to lose" applies here for Canada.
    They're not the favorite to win Copa America, not the favorites against Argentina, not even the favorites to come out of the group, we 've been told.
    Success sometimes is it's own enemy, which is to say, PLAY BALL CANADA.
    If you win you'll be in the final and that great.
    If you lose, you will be reminded that you weren't the favorites.
    But, since you're playing the World Champion, how sweet will it be to Register your name in History?

    Canada had the easiest path to semis in history, 1 defeat, a single win against the 2nd worst team of the copa and 2 draws against mediocre teams... The other 3 semifinalists each with 3 victories and 1 draw against a top opponent. Wow🍀

      There is truth to that, but nonetheless one can only overcome what is put in front of oneself. However note Canada only had 1 draw. They BEAT Venezuela.

      But Canada got placed in a harder group than the US and Mexico.

      @@MrSupahLMFAO That is for sure. The US had the easiest group and they flopped. Mexico had the 2nd easiest group and they flopped. Americans need to get over it. But no question Canada got the easiest QF possible.

    Canada had launched the “diving” pre-Olympics , hopefully the ref took note of what Canada did in the last 3 games and punish them if they attempt to do the same with argentina.

    Well I don't think Argentina and Scaloni will forget about Jesse's cry baby moment and getting him suspended for a game

      @getreal102008, Jesse Marsch has already said that he was talking somewhat with 'tongue in cheek' when he said that; but the truth is that the coach should have been suspended & they should have shown more professionalism & respect for the Refs, the fans, the media & the Canadian team.
      I can't imagine any other major professional sport, where the team wonders out that late. What a joke!!!
      It was bush league & they deserved to get called out for it. Yet another reason why Jesse Marsch is a very good coach!

    What this fuzz all about? Dude, you only won one game in the group stage and hardly obtained 4 points only. You talk as if the team snatched 3 wins with 9 points and scored a plenty of goals. Peru and Venezuela are weak teams due to the economic problems in those countries, so I don't get all this hype made after one loss, scoreless 2 draws, and one marginal win. Your players still play hockey style to be quite honest.

      What the fuzz about? It's about a 49th ranked team making it to the semi finals against the big boys who are all top 15 in the world. Canada group stage is much harder than the US group stage. Canada who is ranked 49th, had to play against rank 1st, 32nd, and 42nd. Meanwhile US, who is ranked 11th, gets to play against ranked 15th, 45th, and 85th. Peru is ranked 32nd and you acting as if they are a bad team. Kinda sad to see how the US struggle in such an easy group stage 😂. Bolivia has worst economic problem than Peru and Venezuela, yet US couldn't even make it out of group stage 🤣🤣

      There might be fuzz but the Canadian coach is clearly NOT the one creating any fuzz.
