You can actually do the last trick with any number of zeros or ones at the end of the original four-digit number. This works because the other four numbers always add up to 19998 which is +20k - 2. If the first number ends in a 1 or a 0, you subtract 2 from the "two digit number" at the right end of the original four digit number (and add 20k). You need to "borrow one 10" from the tens digit to subtract 2 from the 1 or 0. Two zeros: subtract 2 from the "three-digit number" at the right end of the original four digit number (and add 20k). You need to "borrow one 100" from the 100's digit to subtract 2 from the 00). Three zeros: subtract 2 from the "four digit number" (and add 20k). You are "borrowing one 1000" from the 1000's digit to subtract 2 from the 000). Four zeros: Just subtract to from 20 k, because the other four numbers add up to 20k-2.
I'd suggest telling the audience that the deck has all Aces and picture cards removed because they don't have any value. Keep one 10 in there just for show -- that way, a 10 at the end of the original number is the worst case (e.g. 6810, 2210). Elsewhere, the 10 can fall where it likes (e.g. 1022, 3109). This way, you can't have a 1 at the end. Alternately, keep all cards in the deck: picture cards are worth 10, Aces worth 1. It only means that there is a far greater chance of 10s and 1s being in the original number. No problem at all if you remember the rules posted by Scot above.
Likewise, you could do it with six numbers (a total of seven, including the first one), which would add up to 30,000 - 3. So for your guess of the magic final number, just subtract 3 from the rightmost digit of the first number, and put a 3 to the left. Of course, this limits your choices on the first number a little, since the right digit cannot be 2, 1, or 0.
I think it would be better to have 0 or 1 as the final digit on the first number. Look at these examples. If the first number was, for example, 6723, then the answer would be 26721. A good observer would notice that it was just (20k - 2) more than his original number, as compared to 6721, with an answer of 26719. The more digits retained, the easier it is to recognize. I also came up with a different version where i would only add 17996 so that even if they look at the numbers again, they won't easily be able to tell the pattern. With this, instead of making the 2nd number and your 4th number add up to 9999, you make it 8998. Same goes with the 3rd and 5th numbers. You can also switch between 2nd and 3rd numbers when coming up with your 4th and 5th numbers. For example: Random numbers 3571 (final answer would be 21567) 5482 4761 And here are my random numbers 3236 4517 Add them all up, and voila! 21567. :) Edit: i changed the last digit of the original random number to 1 to show that it appears more mind-blowing.
I can't believe you've been in the bar business for very long and those are the best tricks you've learned. Seriously. Are a lot better bar tricks out there
I had tried your straw trick (the 2nd trick here) about 10 times unsuccessfully at first. It was hard seeing it from the front view, but I eventually got it to work! Thanks!
For the last trick, if the last digit of the top number is 0 or 1, you can subtract 2 from the last two digits. For example, if the number is 4321, the number you secretly write down would be 24319; if the number is 3210, you would secretly write down 23208. If the top number ends in 01 or 00, subtract 2 from the last three digits; if it ends in 001 or 000, subtract 2 from the entire number. Example: if given 5001, secretly write down 24999. The two extreme cases are if the top number is 1001 or 1000; your secret number in these cases would be 20999 and 20998 respectively.
The card behind the back trick is a bit silly, because their card is on top, and it goes behind your back while on top, so to most people it's clear that you have control over their card immediately.
first trick use napkins bro. prepare the shotglass with false floor by wetting rim with a lime, place on a napkin and remove outer paper. This trick works great in dim bar.
I know the card trick is supposed to be for beginners but it doesn't make any sense to put a card on top of the deck and then put it behind your back without cutting it beforehand. The Spectator will know that you already know where their card is. it's obviously on top of the deck. don't get me wrong, it's a great trick but the beginning needs a little work. Maybe use a key card and look through the deck and then cut their card to the top before you put them behind your back. Great tricks though...
Russ Wright He puts it behind his back so that he will be able to find out what their card actually is when he shows them the wrong card. It’s definitely a beginner way to figure out what the card is...so that’s prob why. Forcing a card or keeping a pinky break and having to do a false cut or shuffle would be more difficult for a beginner to do in order to find out what the card is than the way he did it here...
Fred - for the 55555 trick, you asked the vegetable and no shit, I hesitated for a split second and said out loud "carrot". I was stumped when you showed the paper with "carrot" written on it. Well done!
I usually go to the bar with a glass in my pocket that has paper glued to it. Now I know what to do with it. Having said that, I was stunned when he pulled out the carrot card.
Ok .... So I'm at bar and I'm like "let me show you a magic trick" then I sneak out the bar drive to the local office Depot pick up some printer paper, scissors, pen and glue. Then sneak back into the bar set up a art area to draw a circle, cut out that circle and glue it to a glass then with my two sheets of printer paper walk Back over to the guy order some drinks and say "all right here we go are you still ready"
There was a well known bar in Chicago called the New York Lounge which often had pro magicians working behind the bar. It was a great place to bring a date, they always had some kind of dirty joke to go with each trick. It really inspired me to learn and diligently practice about 40 tricks, I usually did a routine of about 10 at any one time. One of my favorites was a very realistic small mouse, I would be having a conversation with some stranger and suddenly a the mouse's head would peek out from my open sports coat, the run across my shirt and disappear, it would happen so fast that person would blink and then wonder if they imagined it. Most people wouldn't say anything, unless they saw me do some tricks later on, then they would come up to me and say "So I did see a mouse, it was a magic trick" and of course I would feign confusion and ask "what mouse", this would get them wondering if they really did have too many drinks. Magic tricks are a great ice breaker and a good way to pick up girls. I often was able to bet for drinks (or a pretty girl's phone number) from my tricks. Your first one is an old standard and is too much of a pain to set up as a bar patron. The straw is a very ez one for people to learn. The pyramid 5 trick has way too high of a failure rate. I was never into card or math tricks too much although I know quite a few. As you said, it's very easy to fool people that are drinking.
Very fun video - and I used to be a barmaid wish I had known these tricks at work - and yes it is always a little easier to blow someone's mind when they have had a few drinks !! But for the vegetable trick, I said cucumber :-( (I swear I have had nothing to drink!)
I do the math trick having them randomly draw from a deck of cards. If they draw an ace, picture or 10 I just tell them to draw another one because "we only want single digits"
...mmm in my college math statistic class the professor use 0+6 =? 1+5=? 2+4=? 1X6=? 2X3=? and 6X1=? now say the very first vegetable that you think of ? he said 84% would say carrot ! and I have tried it on loads of people over the years and most say carrot . Tomato's which are considered fruits does come in second place ! When I catch them saying carrot - They can't believe I had it written on the back of the paper and are freaked out that I could read their mind
Similar to the 5s trick and also working about 80% of the time: simply ask someone to answer the same question over and over, like 10-15 times, until you notice some irritation. We use to ask the product of 3 x 7, so he/she answers "21" and again "3 x 7?" - "21", "3 x 7?" - "21", etc... Once is a while you say "7 x 3?" instead. Immediately after this, just ask the name of the first tool that comes to his/her mind and then a color. Usually, the tool is a hammer and the color is red. Sometimes they also answer a saw and the color blue. You can also write down both couple of answers on two different papers for best effect.
Think of a country beginning with D. Take the 2nd letter of that country and think of an animal beginning with that letter. Think of a colour associated with that animal. Most people end up with a grey elephant from Denmark.
I like the straw one! For the card one, what happens if people start picking numbers starting with 9? Do you just start writing down 3 digit numbers? And obviously if the original number ends in 0 or 1 it's pretty easy to subtract 2 from it and add 20,000 lol. E.g. if the number was 9281 the total is just 29279
Good point! The math is pretty simple; 9999x2=19,998=20,000-2 but I still like it as your audience is not likely to figure that out! (and simple suits me well)
if 2nd number is 9281 and 3rd number is 7579, you can always trick and write numbers with 1. At the end you want all 4 digits in units, 10s, 100s and 1000s position should sumup to 18. I would like to jumble the way i write 4th and 5th numbers that way others don't figure out that i am trying to get 9s from on of the numbers. 1718, 2420 or 1418,2718 you can just confuse even more by splitting numbers, but keep in mind to get 18 by adding digits. If both 2nd and 3rd numbers start with 9 or one with 9, then there is no choice but to use 0 at the beginning in 4th/5th numbers.
If the last digit is a 1 or 0 then just add 20000 to make the secret number, and then when you write down your own 4 digit numbers, just have the last digit sum it to 10 instead of 9.
It is but many people don’t know that or have forgotten that. Therefore it doesn’t render the trick invalid because trick relies on the subjective ( person naming it ) & odds of it being carrot or fruit
I learned the carrot one with getting them to answer math questions - 1+4= , 4+1=, 2+3=, 3+2= I'm guessing it may work a little better because you are getting them accustomed to answering orange(5), already. Cool vid, tx
Jacques Hughes: “Vegetable” is a culinary term and has no scientific meaning. “Fruit” is the botanical term for anything that results from the successful pollination of a plant ovary at the base of a female or hermaphroditic plant blossom, whether it be a bean, tomato, blueberry, maple key, walnut, zucchini or chestnut. So wisdom is actually knowing popular lay terminology from scientific terminology.
@@rayray8687 knowing popular lay terminology from scientific terminology- that's more like knowledge. wisdom is not just a knowing. wisdom has contemplation, decision, and considerations.
Interesting tricks, thanks for the upload. I learned the last trick you performed (the 4 digit number) 50 years ago. I love this trick and I perform it at gatherings all the time. However, I always performed it with 5 digit numbers. Therefore I just learned something new, the trick works with "any # of digits" numbers, I tested it. I also used to perform the trick with numbers ending with 1 or 0, I just borrow from the 10s digit (and the 100s digit if the 10s digit is 0) when I subtract the 2 from the 1s digit. Therefore, the rule you mentioned at 13:42 is not true.
The math trick, i have been doing it since my childhood, you say the number can not end in a 1 or 0, yes it can lets say they choose 2341 the answer will be 22339 so what happens u subtract the last two digits by 2
This doesn't seem to work right if there are two zeros in the final column. For example, the starting numbers are 2480. By following your method of subtracting the last two digits by 2, the magical answer would be 222478. But, say another one of the five sets of four digits ends with zero. In my case, the last digit in the five sets of numbers were 0 + 7 + 0 + 2 + 8, which equals 17. Thus, the resulting number would end with 7, missing the correct answer by 1 (222477 vs 222478). I tried other sets of numbers, but the trick doesn't seem work out properly if there is a second set of numbers with a zero as the last digit. But, if I make my last digit in my second set of number 9, it does work out. Is this correct?
@@hypnodan351 If the first number ends in a 1 or a 0, you subtract 2 from the "two digit number" at the right end of the original four digit number (and add 20k). In the example 2341, you subtract 2 from 41 because you need to "borrow". 30+11=41. So 30+11-2=39 leaving the "magic answer" 22339. You can actually do it with any number of zeros at the end. Two zeros: subtract 2 from the "three-digit number" at the right end of the original four digit number (and add 20k). Three zeros: subtract 2 from the "four digit number" (and add 20k). Four zeros: Subtract to from 20 k. This works because the other four numbers always add up to 19998 which is 20k-2.
With the first card trick you could do some false shuffles before you put it behind your back, keeping their selection on top. Pretend to cut to their card but just flip the top card over so you can peak at it. Then when behind you back again cut their card face up into the deck. Put the deck to one side and do a mind reading excersice (you already know the card). Reveal their card is the only card face up. .....just riffing.
I said CARROT, of course, to your 4th trick. If you had tried this in a 15/16th century pub/bar I’m sure you would now be burning at the stake, turning rather crispy !
You’re a legend! And I thought Michael Jordan made me tons of money back when I was bartending. These tricks are gold 💵💰. Hell, they may even get a bartender laid!
22465...was the number on your papers, but you said 22462, 2 times , but the numbers must add up . Not sure it matters if you just said the wrong number as long as they're added correctly? Thanks for the tricks! I've Lways enjoyed good magic tricks.
Loved the number one at the end. I totally failed the vegetable one and answered, "courgette" which are usually green though you can get yellow ones. You might call a courgette, zucchini.
I think I skipped the vegetable all together… began to say “orange” but then said “orangutans” instead. Too me a moment to realize that isn’t a vegetable! Quickly changed my answer to bok choy.
There is another good one, choosing cards: you only use cards that are not symmetric: Ace, 3, 5, 7, 9. And you must align those cards before the trick. So they choose a card from the deck, then you rotate the deck and ask them to put it back in. Then you look for the card that is misaligned. It's mindblowing and they never get to how it's done.
the 55 trick was interesting... I couldn't think of a vegetable... so 5 seconds after the request to select a vegetable I said "ORANGE"... a fruit... but the need to say ORANGE was very strong ... so I chose Orange and the color Orange... and as I listened to the explanation to the 555 number I said "WOW"... the color code for Orange is #FFA500 and I work in Photoshop selecting colors with codes all day long... Interesting... so maybe instead of telling anyone watching to select a vegetable ... you should tell them to select a FRUIT...
wow I am weird.... I said Cauliflower. :( UPDATE: I think I might know why 5 is not associated with orange in my head.... I used to write software and in most of the webpages our colors were defined by Hexadecimal. Orange is ff8a00 -ish... but 555555 is a dark gray color. Or I am just weird.

You can actually do the last trick with any number of zeros or ones at the end of the original four-digit number. This works because the other four numbers always add up to 19998 which is +20k - 2.
If the first number ends in a 1 or a 0, you subtract 2 from the "two

add 20k). You need to "borrow one 10" from the tens digit to subtract 2 from the 1 or 0.
Two zeros: subtract 2 from the "three-digit number" at the right end of the
original four digit number (and add 20k).
Great explanation and thanks for watching!
I'd suggest telling the audience that the deck has all Aces and picture cards removed because they don't have any value.
Love it....going to try tonight!!!
That's because you will be bleeding profusely when you are clobbered for annoying me.
Think of a country beginning with D. Take the 2nd letter of that country and think of an animal beginning with that letter. Think of a colour associated with that animal. Most people end up with a grey elephant from Denmark.
Love that one 😁
the last one is super.always it works.awesome
Yes it does! Thank you and thanks for watching
I pretty sure tomato is a fruit. If you don’t trust me look it up
It is but many people don’t know that or have forgotten that. Therefore it doesn’t render the trick invalid because trick relies on the subjective ( person naming it ) & odds of it being carrot or fruit
Anything that has seed pods is a fruit. Such as peppers, and bell peppers, zucchini, squash, ect!
yes it's a fruit but its eaten with vegetables
Yes because it's good with chocolate.
@@dagnabbit6187 Also, a carrot is a root, anyway...
I learned the carrot one with getting them to answer math questions - 1+4= , 4+1=, 2+3=, 3+2= I'm guessing it may work a little better because you are getting them accustomed to answering orange(5), already. Cool vid, tx
Nice....thanks for watching!!!
I said carrot. Not gonna lie. Well done! Cheers from NZ :)
Awesome...thanks for watching and trying

"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing that you don't put it into a fruit salad."
does that mean ketchup is a smoothie?
Technically, it’s could be either a veggie or a fruit. Depends on whether you’re asking a botanist or a lawyer
Or a politician.
Magic or tricks, you are one baddass entertainer!!!!!👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼😃
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Awesome info. Thanks
M
The math trick, i have been doing it since my childhood, you say the number can not end in a 1 or 0, yes it can lets say they choose 2341 the answer will be 22339 so what happens u subtract the last two digits by 2
Thats awsome info!!! Thanks
Daniel Appraiser I think he meant to say that you subtract 1 from each of the last 2 numbers. This logic works with his example.
Daniel Appraiser s
Great information.....thanks for watching
Dude, when you said “what’s the first vegetable that comes to your mind?” I literally said “5”.
Lol..thanks for watching and trying
MrFredenza Thanks, I might consider subscribing!

Ummmmm, tomato is a fruit....just sayin' ;o)
Harry Dahtery I noticed said cucumber. I was thinking cucumber but said carrot. Lol... That was a pretty cool little video. Thanks for sharing!

I always go to the bar with some sheets of A4 paper, scissors and glue.....
Lmao....thanks for watching anyway lol
Its 22465 you had wrote down not 22462 lol
Watch it back
I said CARROT, of course, to your 4th trick. If you had tried this in a 15/16th century pub/bar I’m sure you would now be burning at the stake, turning rather crispy !
Lmao...
Thanks for watching!!
to0 funny but true
I said 5 cuz you kept saying 5 over and over lol
Just got this recommended...lost out on 9 year's of free beers....good video
Lol...thanks for watching and commenting 👍
That 1st one got me I was like WHAT!! but that was pretty cool!
Awesome! Thank you so much for teaching me these, I'll definitely be doing them!

I said "orange" for the pyramid of 5's lol thats pretty cool.
Nice!!! Thanks for watching!!
I said "pickle" 😁
@MAKSTR i wasn't trying to say a veg just the color orange is what I said during his pyramid thing
Funny when you asked what vegetable comes to your mind I said orange lol
Lol...thanks for watching and trying
Thanks for the video! Very clever math trick!
Thank you and thanks for watching
@13:03 you keep saying 22462 when it reads 22465
That's an error.
22462....multiple times.....turned 5 into 2.......MAGIC! Tada!
Carlos Perla lmao
must be mendela effect
🤣🤣🤣I caught that too, the magic of dislecsia! Plus they would be drunk and probably wouldn't catch it lol
I was just about to write that and seen your comment could've said it better myself lok

Nice!! Thanks for watching and commenting
Dude I thought the same I said squash but I thought the color Orange.
I said cucumber. But felt better when he explained. I happen to be color blind. lol
Lol
Thanks for watching
I said potato. I just had the best tasting baked potato of my life for dinner. It was homemade and very fresh.
I like the last one, I will fool my kids with that!
Nice!! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
You’re a legend! And I thought Michael Jordan made me tons of money back when I was bartending. These tricks are gold 💵💰. Hell, they may even get a bartender laid!
Technically tomato is a fruit.😁
lol
and they're not the same color..Carrots are orange, tomatoes are red...

Others are black, purple, yellow orange or, if you enjoy them, fried, green tomatoes.
Just saying.

Youur moms a fruitcake

22465...was the number on your papers, but you said 22462, 2 times , but the numbers must add up . Not sure it matters if you just said the wrong number as long as they're added correctly? Thanks for the tricks! I've Lways enjoyed good magic tricks.
I said broccoli lol 😂. Thank you for the tricks. What bar are you working at?
So did I!
I said string bean (and tomato isn’t even a veggie) lol
Javier Delgado same
I said, "zucchini."
I said broccoli too!
Wow good magics love it 👍👍👍
Lol..thanks for watching and commenting
8:45 The first vegetable that came to my mind was an apple. LMAO
I said banana for done reason 😂
Loved the number one at the end. I totally failed the vegetable one and answered, "courgette" which are usually green though you can get yellow ones.
You might call a courgette, zucchini.
I think I skipped the vegetable all together… began to say “orange” but then said “orangutans” instead. Too me a moment to realize that isn’t a vegetable!
Quickly changed my answer to bok choy.
I get yellow or red!
I picked carrot. Pretty cool programming.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!!
Hey bartender, can I get a draft beer, 3 pieces of copy paper, some scissors, and empty glass and some glue?

Don't forget a pencil and a calculator. I'll be to drunk to add all those numbers up lol
Bust out laughing at your comment!
These work best if you're the bartender and you are dealing with happy slightly inebriated customers.... or children?
LOL Hilarious!
The "5" trick...I said cucumber. Great "trick".
I did too and I have no idea why lol
I loved the very last one you did.

when you did the 5's and asked for a vegetable, I said cucumber
that's a fruit! You & "peaches" can go sit in the corner & wear the cone hat!

I also said cucumber.
Yeah yeah n banana is a berry but not in common usage bro

13:20 twenty two four six ........two? guess that's a 5 upside down
I do it as 1+1=? 2+2=? 4+4=? 8+8=? 8+8=? 16+16=? Name a vegetable. Carrot.
Because tomatoes are fruit.
Even though I know a tomato is a fruit, I still immediately said tomato
I loved the hiding dime trick.
Fantastic...thanks for watching and commenting 👍
You're a bartender...
Not a magician!

Cool beans Mr.fredenza

When I think of "5" then I see the colour green xD And I have thought of the word "five" :D
That's awesome....I'm going to try!!
Thanks again
Haha love that idea!
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.
You say tomato, and I say tomato!
Actually Jydy, some of those small sweet Toms go well in a fruit salad, particularly a yellow type that I grew last year....
I actually said broccoli and I was concentrating hard on the 5 trick
Me too!!
This is really cool. Thank you for the video.

You're second "Freudian" slip was repeated saying 22462 ^_^ But 5s look like 2s when upside-down :D
I know .....I suck....I was reading through the paper...lol. thanks for watching and commenting
the 55 trick was interesting...
Wow that's awesome.... I could do it either way now
I thought a Zuchinni
Or just ask them to select a color. You will be 100% right all the time :)
wow I am weird.... I said Cauliflower. :( UPDATE: I think I might know why 5 is not associated with orange in my head.... I used to write software and in most of the webpages our colors were defined by Hexadecimal. Orange is ff8a00 -ish... but 555555 is a dark gray color. Or I am just weird.
i did too!! lol
The straw trick was good. That cup and dime is clearly for the waisted goggles
