The giveaway for me was the fact that there were no other hermits there for the explosion. Any explosion with that amount of TNT would surely garner an audience of hermits!
That’s a good point! I realized that was a super inefficient use of tnt but never thought about there not being a Tango around to watch the booms.

The wiki says:
The evoker typically summons sixteen fangs in a straight line toward the target. However, if the target is within three blocks of the evoker, the evoker summons the fangs in two circles around itself: the smaller circle has five fangs and the larger has eight. The fangs do not seek the player, thus the player is able to dodge them. Summoning fangs resets the evoker's spell cooldown to two seconds and resets the cooldown for summoning fangs to five seconds.

Finished watching Zedaph's video then started Impulse's and realized this is perfect. Zedaph's creeper farm is a game of spleef using a single farm structure that generates occasional creepers which he then spleefs to generate blocks and gunpowder. It's cute, creative and ridiculous - typical Zedaph, right? I'm still smiling. Meanwhile, Impulse's farm is this massive four-farm structure that is absolutely awesome (and watching him build it was SO SATISFYING!), generates a crazy amount of gunpowder efficiently and easily, and is an industrial marvel for a survival world. Typical Impulse. Dude - you are KILLING it. I can barely do this in a creative world with a tutorial playing on my phone - lol. Great video, as usual - very fun. ;-)
It's hard to play on a mobile so you have my respect, I can't play with a controller either.

Have you ever seen a Hermit, or any Minecraft player, move out of view of a big explosion? As soon as he did that I knew something was up, then when I saw stuff was destroyed I knew for sure it was fake.

although credit to him, I was convinced that even the first tnt was on the backup singleplayer because of his level going from 39 to 36 before even planting the first bit.
You totally got me. I went to comments about the time you got to Mumbo's base to see how long it took you to scream for Xisuma to do an emergency rollback, because there is now way you could recover from a disaster of this magnitude.

no way they should restore the server for something like this. that should be a last resort option for stuff that happens outside of human control. like if they updated the world and it deleted someone's base or something.
As soon as I saw just how much tnt was placed, I knew he had worldedited it in! With how much was there, there was no need for any tnt; it was already mined out!

Impulse if your worried about people with Light Sensitivity/Epilepsy for lighting stuff you can add a very short momentary Pause with text + yourself explaining there will be flashing lights , and a Monotone beep when it is finished (This is a fairly standard practice in such scenarios!) I have Light sensitivity myself although not Epilepsy wise and thats how I've found it to be best done, although in this case that flashing isn't doing anything toward me (I only get a tiny blip of discomfort from such things myself, others of course much worse.)
I wish I could upvote this more. I'm one of the unlucky ones with photosensitive epilepsy, and I've just become so used to people not caring or even mentioning a potential warning for flashing, so it was really heartwarming to hear Impulse actually give us a heads up. And I've never actually heard of this monotone beep approach, but it's definitely a great approach! Normally it's just guesswork and sound cues in conversation that clue me in to when to open my eyes again, but having a designated beep for when it's safe would be so nice (I honestly wish that was a feature I could enable for when I'm watching TV shows: beep when there's going to flashing lights, then beep when it's safe)
I wish this comment was higher up, I don't have light sensitivity unless you count sneezing when it's bright but I don't think that counts, but my Older Brother does to a smaller degree and it would be awesome if warnings were in more videos, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to edit in, but I also don't know about editing
I also have light sensitivity, not epilepsy though. It would be nice if more people provided warnings and sound ques so I could look back at the screen.

The main tip off that it was fake is just the sheer volume of TNT. Like, he'd have to dig the entire mountain out to place it all thus negating the need of TNT.
My heart sank. I yelled, "you're so fired!" The more you showed the more my heart sank. I gasped at everyone's base as you showed the damage. I felt so bad for you that you were now going to have to make the call to notify everyone. But then you showed the book and said you were gonna pretend it didn't happen. I immediately said, "oh thank God. It's a world copy." And then you revealed it was a prank. And yes, I literally was talking to my t.v. as I was watching. I don't know about everyone else... But you asked if I fell for your prank. Yes. Yes I did. 😊

Circle teeth is actually an intended feature. I think it happens when the enemy is within a certain radius of the evoker.
The elevator and tunnel are very reminiscent of an H.R. Giger painting. The elevator itself is very spinalcord-esque.

as soon as i saw the damage, i had a suspicion of it being fake, then the way you acted as if this was a catastrophic event, but with the calm in your voice told me it’s definitely fake. But i do love the dedication!

I was genuinely believing that explosion happened! The thing that really made me actually believe it was that you were doing all the prep (or "prep?" Idk youre gonna use the tnt anyways lol) work ON STREAM so it made it more believeable that it was something you were actually doing; especially when you asked chat how much sand it takes to make a double chest of tnt. You really did well bamboozling us!
IMPULSE - Sound idea: You know when you're in a subway, but you can hear the trains in nearby tunnels passing by (Ch-ch ch-ch ch-ch)? That might add an extra level of ambiance to your tunnel. Maybe even a wind whistling through, like Tango did last season in his ice tunnel
The prank was epic, I literally felt anxiety bubbling up looking at the chaos! Also was so sad thinking it was the end of Bop and Go! I love the song that plays and the bop's with other Hermits it always makes my day!

It was obvious it was a prank, or least a stitch incoming because so many hermits use copies of the current season to test stuff and damage like this wouldn’t be tolerated if it was a live server. But good try!
Grian has stated multiple times that the rule is to never do a prank you can’t fix for fellow hermits, and well, this would be hard to repair.
I was gonna say "I guess Scar's desire to sacrifice someone to the volcano is gonna come true, and it's gonna be impulse they first toss in the lava xD

The moment I saw Joel's stuff was damaged I knew it had to be on a backup, Even the most overzealous exploder would've taken extra precautions when working in the area.
With the creeper farm, that design works alot better when you alternate which floors get flooded, like 1, 3, 5, 7 get flooded, and while they are flooded, 2, 4, 6, 8 will be able to spawn, then 2,4,6,8 get flooded and they can immediately spawn on 1,3,5,7....
Im guessing the redstones a bit more complex though
@@braydonpratt6726 not particularly, tbh (at least, not at Impulse's level). you'd just swap out half the full buckets with empty ones and place water instead, so it would be like half the platforms already had placed water on them. when the farm runs, you'd have half the platforms drop water, and half of them collect it back.
Easier fix: just alternate which towers get flooded.
Although, one downside is you wouldn't be able to fully turn it off I suppose
It depends how fast the creepers die. All that water on the bottom slows them down. If they were dying instantly from fall damage, this would be true. Otherwise, the unflooded floors may not spawn many (or any) creepers due to the mob limit because the old creepers are still being pulled toward the campfires.
I have a smaller scale version of this (with another drop between the water floor and the campfires) for a general mob farm and didn't see an hourly drop difference from alternating floors. I just synced them back up so I wouldn't have to build a lighting rig to turn it off.

I have to say, I love that you had both a cool hyper energy super fast build montage, and then an at pace chill sand montage, and then the epicness of the tnt, but then the prank of magic mountain!
It made a real nice pace and killer dynamic to the episode, with a huge emotional impact.

If I remember correctly, I believe Bdubs did say in the tour video he doesn't use 30 brightness all the time, just when building. But I might be wrong
Suggestion: drop your glass tunnel down by 1 block and add in a shulker loader on each side so you can load shulkers while you afk ❤

You honestly had me going for a second there, but I feel after having seen Doc pull the same sneaky move when pretending to blow up Boatem, it had me a little wary that there's no way anyone would be willing to destroy this many bases, even if they were willing to repair all the damage. That's a lot of work for a prank dkshg

Clearly Tango has had enough to do with Evokers. He could have stepped in at any moment, but just watched the chaos and enjoyed the fact that it wasn't him this time. I mean, he had so many in Decked Out 2 that there's no way he didn't know exactly what to do. He has earned the show you two put on for him.

30 brightness is so good, I'm ok with you leaving it at 30 all the time
I support Impulse whatever he tries to do, but what I'll say is that 30% gamma is *really tough* in caves and at night, not just for playing the game but for recording. I watch Hermitcraft videos on a phone with an OLED display, so blacks are really crisp, and if Impulse can see it, I can see it, but think about how for a lot of people, certain TV shows (most notoriously _Game of Thrones)_ had a lot of the scenes were just... blurry black with no way to tell what was going on.
I tried playing Minecraft in 30 brightness because of Bdubs too, but within the first night I gave up immediately and now I only do that when I'm specifically looking at my base. It looks cool, but I can see why Bdubs is always sleeping asap

@@frostyskeletons8950 anything below 50 brightness is good if you mostly live above ground and are okay with bringing stacks of torches to see anything when mining. But 100 brightness is way better for just decently realistic "artificial light in a room" scenarios, because in this game to have decent light on the floor you need to shove the lamps in the floor itself...

Great job putting in details at the beginning about how much time and effort had gone into the elevator shaft and tunnel so we were super-invested when we saw they had been 'destroyed.' 10/10
This is the perfect Minecraft video! Impulse manages to blend intelligence, charisma, and practicality to make great videos every time! This video has a coherent storyline, blends the old “fast Timelapse” and the new “Bdubs style cinematics”, a good intro and outro, relates to my other favorite creators (members of magic mountain), a good twist, and most importantly I remained interested the whole time. Impulse you’re a genius and I consistently love your content both videos and livestreams (please keep playing phasmo!) keep up the great work!
Seeing a big farm being built is so satisfying. I love that there's been more focus on building and interactions because I see a lot of enjoyment and growth, but it felt like it's been a while and was fun to watch.

Gosh, so much awesome in this ep. I won't comment on the big thing that happened, but:
- The elevator shaft looks *so much better.*
- The tunnels at 30% brightness makes me wish Minecraft supported HDR (and that I had an HDR display lol).
- Then there was the _The Fifth Element_ reference, which cracked me up.
- Finally, I love love _love_ the montage music you've been using this season.
I knew Impulse was too smart not to test the explosion in a single player world first. I was believing it then half way through I'm like, "Impulse, surely you tested this in single player first right?????!!?!???? How did you not know?!"
Anyways, show this world to the other Magic Mountaineers so they can see it too
They were planning to make the mountain into a volcano...I know a lot of Hermits aren't interested in big, serverwide, scripted events like s8's "lunapocalypse" anymore, but with Cleo planning to (EVENTUALLY) have an underground monster escape at the (EVENTUAL) end of the season, I did wonder if there were plans for individual Hermits or small groups to come up with their own separate season-ending catastrophes once they reach that point. If Impulse hangs onto that world copy, gets rid of the levitating water and has the other Magic Mountaineers decorate it with more fire and volcanic-looking blocks, I could see them saving that to use for their season finales as if the volcano erupted.
(And leave the real server alone so the world download can include _intact_ bases to explore.)

Bdubs said that he played a full season at 50% brightness and has now moved to the 30% for this season, so as to adjust his eyes and all of our eyes to it. Its absolutely worth it to lower the brightness for the correct mood/ambiance, however, maybe you can slowly lower your brightness over the next few weeks/months. We will adjust with you and more than likely the vast majority of viewers won't even notice, and will welcome it.

You should have had Skizz do this. Being a newbie it would be more believable that he would have messed up so royally. Tango could have popped up and said, "Don't be that guy."

I only very briefly fell for it, lol, but that's because I remembered that mission exists thanks to one of Iskall's videos and maybe one or two other hermits already doing their versions of it. I think the lack of other hermits being involved was also a decent clue, lol, any large-scale explosive digging project on the server seems to attract spectators. And speaking of, if you do decide to do actual explosive digging on a less catastrophic scale, it might be worth asking Etho about his in-situ TNT minecart crafters! Worked wonders for Tango clearing out land ready for his factory, and they seem very fun to use

I fell for it for about 10 seconds of sheer panic before i noticed a hint of mischief in his voice- I was thinking i would've fallen for it 100% if someone in the chat mentioned lag or gem showed up and started yelling at him

I couldn't imagine that you would misjudge the amount of TNT that badly, and I was certain that if you did destroy the world that badly you'd get it rolled back to a backup.

When I saw the tnt I audibly when oh my god and then I saw the surrounding damage and genuinely started tearing up bc I was just thinking how much work EVERYONE put in to their surrounding builds and every single one of them (except skizz) in some way was damaged.. that was a really good prank but now I’m traumatized 😭
Same. I had to pause the video for a good while when the book was shown
the tnt was blowing up super weird, and that was my first red flag that something was up (well, I'd been spoiled by comments, but that was the first "tell" I saw)

@@therookiegamer2727 yk that's fair, I've never actually blown up *that* much tnt before, I just assumed even at scale it was more of a "rolling" explosion than a "wave-based" explosion
