Great video, well narrated and good tunes. The views of Southern Illinois are awesome! I'm gonna have to get to Trail Of Tears State Forrest and ride! Best of luck to you!
On my Salsa El Mariachi, I used to run a Whisky CF fork (rode the OEM Fox suspension fork for a couple of years). A year ago or so, I swapped it out for a Salsa CF Firestarter (non-boost) and it's a solid fork, IMHO. I like it a lot and can mount water bottles on it for those really really long rides. It would be nice if those who are walking remain to the right so folks who are riding can pass on the left. A bit of common sense and etiquette. Looks like you had a good time. And, from one steel rider to another...steel is real! 🤣 Thanks for sharing
"Back of the Gravel Pack"? So,...that means you are riding with me then. LOL! Just found your channel. Thanks for the video. I was looking at a bike with the same fork. I am reconsidering that now. I have Apex 1x on my gravel bike too. I am defiantly going back to Shimano if I stay mechanical. I have SRAM electronic on my road bike and it has been pretty good for the past three years. Better than I can say the mechanical group has been.
Welcome aboard, glad you enjoyed the video! I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a Sram AXS setup, or XPLR, but I'm not sure what availability looks like.

Thanks Geno. It is for sure a great place to visit and ride. I'd probably avoid the peak of summer though, gets a bit warm down there.
Thx for the video! Hope to see you there in a few weeks 🚴♂️💨👍
I unfortunately didn't get in before they filled up this year, enjoy!

I'm thinking of maybe trying a rodeo fork out when funding permits a change. For now, stuck with what I have.
Nice recap - I don't think I made the cut for your video, but you passed several riders I know. Good luck on Midsouth!
Thanks Chris, looking at the weather forecast, I'm going to need plenty of luck at midsouth this weekend.

@@backofthegravelpack that is what I've decided on as well. Availability isn't good from what I've been able to find.
Sweet looking course! Strong finish, and good luck on Midsouth!
Great roads, nice to ride where there are some trees now and then! Midsouth is going to be....something.
Great video! Good luck at Midsouth!
Thanks CJ, probably gonna need it. Cold, snow, and probably mud too. Going to be interesting.
Another strong effort. What cogset are you running?
Thanks Richard! I think I have an 11-42 cassette on right now.
microSHIFT or Shimano group set is the way to go for gravel. Less precision in the pull ratio! Good work with the creek crossings
Thanks for the tip Brad, I haven't given the microshift a try yet, I'll have to give it a look.
