This is a gem of a course and a great place to ride. I hope folks get a chance to participate in this event. Russell also has some great places to eat and drink in addition to some great fishing and camping at Wilson Lake!
Done WW four times. The KOMs are timed (Strava Segment) during the race. Pacing the hills is critical to make it over them and good gearing. No shame in walking up the "Bike Walker's Hill" as it is long and very steep near the top. The gravel there is kind on tires, not sharp flint rock but there are a few short sandy spots. I rank this course as the kindest on your bike but most challenging on the body where even the 100K feels like a major accomplishment when finished. Challenging enough to make worth while and if you dont' want to push it you have the scenery.
My wife and I rode this for the first time last summer, it was a fun and very challenging race while also being our very first 100k Overall it was a great experience and we are hoping that we get to attend again this year. Maybe this year we wont show up with straight bars 🫣 Great video as always, I enjoy the in the moment commentary!
@@backofthegravelpack It wasnt too bad, stayed cool for most of the race. Only got warm after we made it to bikewalker hill and I didnt refill my pack at the final sag stop, as I thought the worst of it was behind us Hope to race again this year too

Agreed!
Always fun videos. Your channel feels more like a regular person’s version of riding😊
Not pros showing off.
Appreciate that comment Eric, that is certainly what we are trying to do
