Any place in Mexico that charges a CC fee is typically only 3%, although when in Tlelaquepaque, I found with some merchants the price was at least 30-40% higher for CC, but they listed the higher price on the item and then gave the lesser price if paying cash. A LOT of UA-camrs warn about Gas station scams, which is very unfortunate.
Living in Mexico for a year during our travels that was the only instance of any deceptive practice. I certainly didn’t encounter any other issues anywhere else. Love the country and the people! Hope you’re having a great week. We appreciate you watching our adventures!! 😎
You aren't alone Amigos. We flew into SJD last week to fish a few days up at Buena Vista. After renting our vehicle at the airport, we stopped at the closest Pemex to top off the tank. My buddie gave his credit card to the attendant to run through the card reader. She must have slipped it into a couple of other readers first to get his card info. An hour later at our hotel, his wife called to enquire about a $ 1,600.00 USD charge to Baja Tours and another $800.00 USD to to another Tour Co. After a 1/2 hour of talking to City Bank, all purchases were voided and the card was deleted from use and a new one was issued. I've traveled Mexico for over 60 years and speak Spanish, and this was the first time ever, in All 32 states, that we or he have been scammed. No need to go back to San Jose Del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas. Buen Viaje.
Wow Joe!! Holy crap Batman, glad you got that straightened out with Citibank! It sucks when people, who could be successful and make an honest living, have to try stuff like that. Hope you’re having a great week. We appreciate having you on the Journey with us!! 😎
So your card gets skimmed and you decide your never going back to that city? If you had a really violent experience I understand but can’t you just go back and only use cash(PESOS NOT DOLLARS)
Hey Mikey! Hope you’re doing OK. Mexico is still a great place to travel even if you run into one bad 🍎. Take care and have a wonderful week my friend! 😎
I have been all over Mexico over 50 times since the '80s. Some places do charge as high as 30% on the credit card. You have to ask first. I had the same experience at Norte Beach in Isla Mujeres two months ago when I tried to use my AX card. I paid cash.
This drive looks beautiful. I had to pause for a second and I saw the "Dubai Pharmacy"...whaaaat? If any of these businesses are local owned, I bet they are raking in the bucks. Especially, the thief at the leather store. Glad you filmed him and gave the name of the store. Sounds like they prey on tourists. They have enough of that off the Baja strip as I understand it. You can almost get away from it, but not quite. Thanks again for another great video.
Thank you friend for watching! Yea, that area was way too touristy for me. I still like the smaller towns and normal people. Hope you’re having an excellent week amigo! 😎
He asked if I would cover the credit card fee charged by the credit card company. Everywhere else in the world that’s around 4%. I’ve checked his reviews since this and he’s swindled a lot of customers. Hope you’re having a great week my friend. Thanks for joining us on the Journey! 🙂
Gene, report the vendor to VISA because if they didn't post a notice at checkout of the service fee, I believe it is against VISA card regulations. That vendor could have their privileges taken away.
Oh what a shame! Sorry that happened to you! I have not been to SJ in 25 years…boy has it changed! Curious to know, what town on Baja has been your favorite so far?
I am sorry that happened to you. (Still watching the video). I imagine there are robbers because the place looks touristy and fancy! The video certainly piqued my interest in the place! It shows a clearer view than anything else I’ve seen online about it.
It’s all good. We’ve had soooooo many positive experiences in Mexico that all one bad one does is make a different episode. 😂 Hope you’re having a great week! 😎
Sorry for that bad experience. Proverbs 6:31 "But if he is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole, even if he has to sell everything in his house" In God's own way this will be paid back seven times, because you caught the thief
Thank you Marc for your kind words! I actually worked in radio about 40 years ago and would definitely not mind doing some voiceover work now. We appreciate you watching our videos and hope that you’re having an excellent week! 😎
Hi Doug! Drove through your province back in 1979 with my older brother. Loved it! Thanks for joining us on the Journey! Hope you’re having a good week! 😎
It’s sad but really it’s such a one time occurrence for us. The folks in Mexico have been so kind. This one place was the exception. What goes around comes around so I’m sure they will not benefit in the long run. Gloria thanks for riding with us on these adventures! Hope you’re having a great week! 😎
Definitely not, thank goodness! And glad you’re ok!!! We had a friend who stopped at a rest stop in North Carolina and was robbed at gunpoint getting a drink from a vending machine. We definitely appreciate you joining us on the Journey and enjoying our adventures with us! Hope you’re having a great weekend! 😎
Good idea! Didn’t go in to buy anything so wasn’t carrying that much cash though. Of course Renee saw jewelry 😂. Hope you have a great week. Thank you for joining us on the Journey!! 😎
I like when you stop and talk about items VS just music. Example, prices at the chocolate shop, what a night at a high end resort costs / all inclusive, etc. Just some friendly input😂😂 hopefully the shop theif goes out of business!! Cheating on CUSTOMERS? Real ethical !!
Aww my friend I quickly forgave and forgot. It did make for an interesting adventure though. Hope you enjoyed a great weekend. We appreciate you joining us on the Journey! 😎

Thank you Tracey for watching and joining us on the Journey! Favorite city…hmm… Todos Santos definitely a great town for its kind people and great restaurants; El Sargento and Los Barriles for their beaches; but definitely La Paz for being a great overall city. Hope you’re enjoying a wonderful week! 😎
@@GeneandRenee sounds like a great adventure and sure appreciate your reply and of course the great videos you share! We are considering La Paz and hope to take a trip over there. We currently live in Mazatlan :) Enjoy your week too and look fwd to your next video! Safe travel!

Great well rounded video of SJD, thanks:)
@belliott4844 thank you! 🫡
I heard that also on the gas. Something like you have to be sure it says zero b4 they start pumping and to show bill of exactly what you want.
@cjd5255 exactly! But we never had a problem with that. 😬

God bless and take care.

After he told you that there would be a service fee, did you ask how much the service fee was before you agreed to pay for it?

What a pity you had such a bad experience, believe me those people are not from Baja Sur
There’s got to be a bad 🍎 once in awhile. I got gringo taxed. Made for a different episode though 🤓. Hope you’re doing well my friend! 😎

Amen Elly! I rest in John 16:33.
Hope you’re doing well my dear brother! 🙂
Are you a former DJ or voice-over person? If not, you should be. Great narration.

@@GeneandRenee Maybe you could do audio books. I enjoy the narration in the videos.

How sad it happened to you! Called Chase and they do the investigation. The cards are protected against the robbers.
