The more I think about this the more I wonder what could have been if VDV was onside and Romero scored from 2 yards out. I’m holding onto this idea Ange is stubbornly just using this season as a training camp for the bigger picture and he’ll address the smaller details in summer. It’s so frustrating to know how close we could be with 4 spot on signings but Levy won’t make them, he’ll sign Werner and Tosin or Kelly.
Great show here! Everything you say regarding our defensive set-up is so obvious - the coaching staff should be of sufficient capability to see this yet nothing is done. Either it is ineptitude or the players are not following instructions. There has to be a set piece specialist brought fun if no-one in the coaching set up can deal with the problems. We are an easy touch at present.
The attacking approach won't change but I expect Ange to work on the set piece defending. We should not consider what we see right now is the final product under Ange. Davies's defending for the 2nd goal is shocking. VDV can cover the space in the middle. Saka is the only threat on the left. Davies can cut out the pass if he just run with Saka.
We lack aggressiveness particularly in the middle we are to soft teams pick up on it and harass us just look at vicario no other team would allow that

We play so much better when we play one two fast. Kick the ball ahead of sonny and kulo and let them run. All games they are waiting for balls over the top which never come.
I think the fanbase is expecting Son to do his job And Kane's so the fanbase is frustrated with him. Now, If Kane was still here and Son was just doing his job and putting up the same exact numbers (26 g/a), I don't think anyone would have a problem with him. So my conclusion is, if Richy stayed fit all season or we had a striker to pair with Son, it's a non issue.

Everywhere Ange has been he was criticised for the high line and set pieces when it was initially having issues. And then over time both became non-issues and the team became very successful, so we simply need to give it time.
The easiest thing in the world to do is for Ange to say, yes we are working hard on set pieces for next week. The fact that he doesn't lie about reacting in a big way to short term issues and sticks to his principles that it's a process with everything (including set pieces) shows the depth of this mans process and his belief in it.
I am of the opinion this exactly the type of individual that goes on to become a legend. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen but in his FIRST season we are 5th having lost the best striker in the world, blooding a load of rookies and having had a very injury ridden, interrupted season, plus he's brought in a great style of play already. I'm 100% behind Ange until such time as he's had years and we still haven't achieved anything meaningful.
The quote about set pieces was very interesting, and it was from 2022, Ange's first season at Celtic. But then the next season the goals conceding went from 33% of goals conceded from set pieces to 15% in 2023. I'll be honest, this is an issue I don't fully understand, because Ange is vague in how he talks about it but maybe he has a very clear method with it. He seems to be alluding to a fact that it is about mentality and the players learning to deal with it themselves so that they can adapt to different fluid situations. It's another thing that probably comes down to more time before we can really make any firm conclusions. I must admit it is odd, but maybe it needs to be to 'get to where we want to be'.
Agree with so much you guys mention here. Set peices has to be addressed ASAP why wait til summer. Now Davies is likely out for rest of season, Emerson or Dragusin should at least help us on defending set peices.

Instead of any actual planning for the opposition we face and setting up according to our squads strengths and limitations, it seems to me that Ange is expecting the players to work it out as they go along.
It's as if a style of play apart from only using half the pitch and zonal marking at defensive set pieces is left up to the players' "Sixth Sense ".
The players need direction and support from the sidelines which they have never got.
The time for Ange to get involved more than at any other time is during the game. to me Ange-Ball is just a baffling nothing.
The picking of the team and the subs., and timing of subs. leaves so much lacking in proper and effective team management. As Jonny points out we have had our full complement back now for a long time, and the 'VIBE' or whatever Ange's coaching style is just ain't working.
I'd go as far to say with the way we set up and in game tactics we get from Ange, he deserves the same chant Nuno got. " You don't know what you are doing", in the premier league anyway.
If it wasn't for some individual player brilliances along the way, like Vicario's saves VDV's unbelievable recovery, Richy's purple patch etc. we would have been done and dusted a long time ago.
Just face it Ange is out of his depth. A decent manager doesn't just watch his team flounder standing on the sidelines with his hands in his pockets.
Like some of our players, like head chickens who stand and watch; the message from the fans is loud and clear; 'For God's sake get involved son'.
All these defensive blunders were in the first half.
We have only one big problem, this is set-pieces, if we manage to fix this in the summer, and with 2-3 top...top players on the right positions.
Long time Arsenal Season Ticket Holder here. These are just my opinions, not argumentative, not combative. Shame we have to caveat that these days, but there you go. On the issue of the referee, on another day the decisions could have gone Spurs way, and I will admit we rode our luck at times.But on the flipside, Saka was kicked up and down the park by Davies, and in the end got a yellow. Maddison twice went down in our box untouched. One for a pen and once grabbing his face trying get Tomy sent off but nothing given. Then towards the end, Richarlison buts into Gabriele, a challenge that the commentary said should have been dealt with harshly. My point is that it didn't all go one way.

I agree with most of what you say but sakka for all his talent falls to the ground every time you go near him if he doesn’t come away with the ball he’s lying on the floor complaining I think he’s embarrassing which is a shame we all have players who over do it including spurs but I just can’t get my head around sakka constantly falling over. @@colinturner4158 Like all players he does go down with minimal contact from time to time, but I do think he gets his fair share of whacks. I think the irony here would be that a big Spurs argument from Sunday would be that they are arguing that their player should have gone down following absolute minimal, possibly even no contact, which in your words would be embarrassing. I don't give a toss about what AP says about the team being told how to play and to stick to the script-when did we last see genuine "angeball" anyway?- if we lose tomorrow because of his unwillingness to give Vicario some back-up, he should get a full-on blast of opprobrium, he had the same problem at Celtic but seems to need to re-learn some aspects of football managenent each time he dhanges jobs.

I want see Romero as captain next season, time to be ruthless! Son isn’t captain material and should be rested next season to mange his time as you say with real competition for places by buying quality, young left winger and no 9. We need a “first” 22 not 11, think on those terms ie 2 players competing for 1 position all over the pitch, so we can rotate as needed through a season where we will hopefully be playing lots of games!!! The next 11 (23-33) should come from our U21s with a few bring blooded in Europe especially in early rounds of games carefully ie not all of them at once! We should have a constant succession plan for our squad. Need consistency in manager / philosophy, back Ange 100% but please get a dedicated set piece coach in who can take care of this area that badly needs fixing otherwise we’re going to need to score 4 or 5 each time to get 3 points!!!

Season is over, the fight is gone from the players and Ange has picked the wrong starting 11 a lot recently. Set pieces are a joke, Dragusin is the only defender that can head the ball defensively.
Word is Ange just does not rate Dragusin, as his appearances will confirm - what a shambles !
Son doesn’t suit this system at all and neither does Kulu. There’s a reason they flourished in a counter attacking system. Problem is the club will never sell son because of his commercial value, he will stay until his retirement unless he decides to leave. That creates a big problem as he’s the ‘main man’ and will demand to play but he’s not effective.

This season it’s good, but next season Ange has to get us over the line with some sort of silverware. According to him, his second season is when things really start to happen. Did Ange play the same way at Celtic ? even if he did had the best players and was up against much lesser opposition most of the time so got away with it, he needs to adapt its part of what being a top manager is.

It also seems our players are being run into the ground and getting injured at training.

Plan A(NGE) is going nowhere, He wont change or adjust to the EPL level...Top of the table in the early season is the highest position but couldn't be sustained due to squad depth being too shallow....BUT, that was back then when there was a newness...NOW, the shine of the new toy has gone...ALL the other 19 managers have seen enough to devise tactics to counter AngeBALL,so points wont(and haven't) flowed in like the first 3 months....How many points in the last 5 games? 15 or none?...
