Didn't you hear Ange's explanation as to why they've avoided playing VDV at LB throughout the season? He explained that its to preserve his health and that they believe playing LB would be too physically taxing for him over a long term because of his hamstring issues he stated that playing LCB would be the role they'd rather keep him in to preserve his health for as long as possible.
I like ange a lot but let’s not act like he isn’t a waffler😂😂 waste of time reading into stuff he says in the week in my opinion.
Next season his team will do the talking for him trust me. Exciting season incoming

I don’t see VDV staying at left back when Udogie is back but certainly an option, the guy is just class, but the main key areas for me would be CM, left wing and a striker and getting in a versatile wing back as cover would certainly help.

For me it was critically important to have the game volume of Europe to allow us to develop a squad with 16 first 11 players and keep them playing and happy.
For that we need to stop thinking in first 11 terms. We need starters and finishers and we should be as good with both. The key 5 positions need proper competition and it should be a budget priority
Arguably our performance shortcomings were not due to lack of quality, it was due to lack of quality in depth.
If we go out and spend our budget on 1 star ⭐️ t won’t help us improve the areas that we failed this seadon.
Every time Levy goes for a ‘cheap’ player instead of a better one he undermines the prospects of the club and reinforces the Spursey element
When Ange is manager no players come into the squad that he doesn't want so under Ange you can stop blaming Levy for player signings. BTW Ange doesn't see just spending more as the solution to getting better players - there are lots of other important things he looks for.
Papa Sarr, vicario, Udogie, cheap players but worth it …. How much would VDav worth now, we paid 45. For it’s not the price it’s the right player ., it’s not all about money… Richarlinson waste of 60 million ….
I am VERY opposed to bringing in Toney. (I know he wasn’t a part of this discussion). Great player, but trouble waiting to happen as a personal character. NO ACTIVE PLAYER who gambles (period, but also) on games…but especially on his own teams…on games in which he plays can/SHOULD EVER be allowed to play…ESPECIALLY for us!
Plus, does Gallagher really want to play for us? Great if he does, but I think bringing in ANYONE unprepared to FULLY BUY IN TO ANGE BALL…ie WANTS TO play Ange Ball seems counterproductive to me, despite my admiration for his football quality. But, in Ange I trust. He always stresses that he values quality people who will fit in with Ange’s priorities. Just commentary.

We need some mentality in the team and buying better quality than we have or we are not going to achieve anything more than 4th. All teams will be up grading lets hope Levy gives Ange better players.

Must admit I hate this time of year, u get optimistic about signings for summer, then get ready for new season with more optimism, then spurs go n let u down every time
I think that's why it's the best time of year. All you have is hope (which inevitably ends pretty much as soon as the season starts for Spurs). You con yourself into thinking some youngster or cheap signing is going to take the league by storm and they never get a game. I am weirdly excited by Bergvall and Vuskovic coming next year. I think Bergvall from the clips I've seen and how he talks seems like he'll be great (appreciate that it's only clips from the Swedish league, but still...)
KWP can play both LB and RB comfortably. He's not injury prone, he is very good in possession and it makes sense to bring him in as a club trained homegrown player for the squad. He's not the best defensively but if you need better defense then you could use Skipp.
Top 4 is not success sean. If you keep that mentally you'll end up like Wenger. I'd much rather be in a competition we could win which would be a successful season unlike getting knocked out early in the CL.
I think if one is 4th in the league and not 5th after the whole season, one is more successful than the 5th. It doesn't have to do with winning one game more. And in addition to that you will have 50 million more in the budget than the lower team in the table. Two years of that is Declan Rice.
To win the Europa League is not sure. And if you lose in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round? This is the former UEFA Cup. Franz Beckenbauer called it once "Cup of the losers". That was at times when only the winner of the league was qualified. Nowadays when even the 4th or maybe the 5th can play CL it is even less valueable. If only UEFA Cup is the goal 3 or 4 teams are better after 38 games in the league than our club. This is success nowadays.
A combination of Thiago Motta’s future and club finances will likely change that Calafiori stance.
I actually see Calafiori staying in Italy with. Juventus if he does move, but Buongiorno (though less versatile for our system) is a more likely option at the moment.
I also support Inter Milan who this season became league champions (for the 20th time) with four games still to play, and are currently 19 points clear of second place AC Milan with one round left. Not bad for a team chock full of Premier League rejects such as Alexis Sanchez, Marko Arnautovic, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan; all three of whom are 35 years old.
This should be proof, if any were needed, that team/club mentality trumps individual attributes. Building that mentality is Ange's mission, not finishing fourth.

@@earofvangogh9450 Hiroki Ito is currently at Stuttgart that finished 2nd in the Bundesliga this year. His role is crucial in their defense line. A very versatile player.

Spurs were linked to him in the January window. Not sure how accurate those reports were, but there were some links at least I think the Calofori (spelling?) links from Bologna might have replaced Ito as those links have been quite consistent for a few months now and think he plays LB/LCB too

I think Olmo 100% improves our first team and I'd be over the moon if we signed him. However, would that mean we'd stop any pursuit of Eze?
That's what worries me. I prefer having Eze first, kind of like a main priority.

Big up Sean. Well, all I know is the boys landed about 3.50am this morning. Big Ange is Laser Focused for getting the right players that will fit his style and have good mentality and character. Therefore, it will be a crazy transfer window of Ins and Outgoings. Already, we can hear the Whispers from other channels claiming if we get Connor Gallagher, it will be the cheap option and a Levy signing. Seriously, didn't they have Toys as kids? In some games I'd love to see a 352 like Leverkusen with Udogie and Porro as wing backs, since neither can defend well. I don't think Udogie and Porro work well being in the back 4 at the same time against top half sides, it makes it way too open at the back. Then for other games we have the option for VDV LB in a back 4.
Yes Levy does the set the foundation within the club he is the chairman of the club. He has relationships with almost every player that joins the club. Sean stop comparing it to a regular business this is a football club its way different from a normal job you have worked with. Levy sets the budget for Ange stop defending it or being a devils advocate.
Sean I realise the focus is elsewhere but if we only had one player to buy for me it would be Eze.

A LeftB, DM, Winger and Striker needed. MVDV can cover for both LB and LCB. Dragusin can cover LCB and RB.
He’s a brilliant left back in normal role but as an inverted full back it’s a lot of running and to do 90 mins of running and sprints something has to give - think for odd game like end of season yes but not consistently all season as a back up to Udogie and cb the other games - to be a risk as injuries keep Davies use him and odd occasion vdv

I think its about baby steps. General play has been woeful in recent years. This year it was exciting, but inconsistent. Coupled with injuries , absences , suspensions , derailed the season. That should be the main focus next season along with bringing in new pieces that fit. Im expecting some early season teething problems whilst the squad gels. Europa is a great stepping stone into eventually targeting the league title and being competive against European giants. Getting knocked out early achieves nothing, other than knowing how far off the mark you are. Europa gives Spurs a chance of putting some trophies in the cabinet and giving this team some confidence .
Would luv olmo but for how much we need in other areas, doesn’t really make sense. Can’t see this 1 levy never offering that much with CL
Lloyd Kelly is out of contract at the end of the season and can play LB. I'd happily take him as our new Ben Davies.
We should be looking to keep Ange till he retires , not for just 4 yrs, we need to win several honours including for me regaining first in FA Cups as we were before and should be consistently again thebest Cup team, Atleast 5 PL rtrophies as well
We didn't qualify for the Champions League because we weren't good enough. That's it. It's very little to do with the Man City game, which were most likely to lose anyway given the trend coming in. We're talking as if we would have won that match if only some fans didn't want us to give Woolwich the leg up with a win. We had a whole 38 games to get into the top 4 and we weren't good enough to do it. That is the reality of our current situation. We need to use this summer to make ourselves better prepared for next season. I still think, on balance, that we are better than Aston Villa and we need to prove it next season and start the difficult process of closing the gap to the top 3.
💯% Levy's fault our lack of success he hires and fires the managers dictates funds to buy players, remember he fired JM 3 days before a cup final and didn't back poch during 2015/2019 when we was close to winning major trophys

I think the lack of moving on players who turned out to be bad signings or not a good fit has sent a message to the team you don't have to be your best all the time because you will get to keep your weekly pay check and nice life in London if you are sub par.

Looking at City and Arsenal..the movement to basically 4 CB'S seems to be the way things are moving thesedays..maybe another CB is the way to go
Tottenham tried and Ange obviously tried for Champions League but didn't make it, simply due to our inconsistency in 2024, although you could say the games we threw away, Wolves and Aston Villa were the reason. Spurs were thrashing Villa at home but gifted goals, we gifted West Ham victory too, that's the only reason we didn't get there, not that we weren't prioritizing it enough.
CL would have been nice. Would have been nicer if obtained weeks ago. It baffles me how the same group of players and staff from the first 10 games couldnt be more consistent for the whole season. As others have been saying there is a fragility there. Hope it gets addressed in the summer.
@@irregulargamer5848 Perhaps coaches worked out our tactics and how to counteract them better, now we need to learn to play them better, hence the talk about the foundations not being strong enough.
I believe besides Calafiori, Fabiano Parisi from Fiorentina could be a possible choice for me. He was decent this season, can attack, can defend, he has more to prove still. A former teammate of Vicario too. What do you think?

It's quite possible that Spurs could achieve around £150m/£200m if they sell players that doesn't fit into Anges' future template
Big if. Plus there are many players about. Nearly all our players on sale havent shown anything to convince me they are worth much. Except to the right club. Which isnt great as lots of clubs are financially constrained still.

If you believe Udogie might be injury-prone, then signing someone to replace him would make more sense. No point in ‘filling in’ for the person who’s not available enough
I think we need competition at both full back positions. I'd like Robinson from Fulham for LB. I wouldn't be too disappointed if we went for a freebie like Kelly as our 4th choice CB.

I personally wanted to finish 5th rather than 4th. Yes, CL is far more prestigious and lots more money, but, realistically, we are not going to win that. Let's go all out to try and win Europa which, with all the good teams in CL, we must have a decent chance of winning. Plus winning that gets us both a trophy and CL the following year.
To be honest, I'm very dubious we will be able to clear out so many players. To go for a title push we need five to six quality additions and a back up keeper. If our budget is 100 million, we would need to raise 200 million in transfers. That's only possible if we sell Richie and Son. Personally, I think we will use data analytics to find value in the market and hopefully unearth some gems. I'd be surprised if I've actually heard of any of the newcomers we sign in the summer.

Absolutely keep davies fornine more year. Wont get much of a fee if we sell and he can provide cover. Micky VDV can work at lb in some games but i would be wary of straining hus hamstrings with relying on him there too regularly. I think kwp makes sense as a cheap signing to cover rb with emerson going while also helping with homegrown and club trained numbers and allow us to focus big spending on other priority positions. Specifically striker and dcm who would be regular starters

At the beginning of season we would have taken 5th spot ..We punched above the belt thats why we are feeling let down for finishing top 4
If you look back players didn't turn up in almost 5-6 games and allowed to slip the advantage of first goal..Had we won those or drew couple things would have been different
I swear Sean, I think you read my mind. Yes, play VdV as backup LB to give Dragon more playing time. This would allow us to pivot and focus all the money at the 3 forward positions and probably RB if we loose Royal.
Dragusin can play in the porro position with ease and Porro can do the Johnston job 120% better in attack ,ball crossing , goalscorer and helping in midfield defense, he might not have the Johnston pace ,that's all

Champions league would've been good but was always gravy. The Europa league gives us the opportunity to build in the right way because had we made it into the Champions league Levy isn't going to sanction the type of players that take you there. We have to build a squad that CAN compete on all fronts.
Almo is technically beter than Gallagher and more exy. Ito would be handy. I like frimpong and williams but realistically werner is ok if we have giminez or similar who is a quality finisher. Desperate for a 6 if we offload current..

KWP & Lloyd Kelly won't excite the fanbase but they're very sensible if it frees funds for the likes of Palinha, Gallagher, Olmo, Giménez to add a lot of fresh blood to a squad often looked tired and lacklustre. I really wanted us to get 4th so there was no excuse for not getting the chequebook out but I'm trying to remain hopeful of what we're doing under Ange!
I think if I had a full 11 of van de ven all around the pitch I could win a quadruple
