I'm barely halfway thru but this book is already immensely helping my mental game. Played the best round of golf in a long time today by mostly staying out of my head and trusting my abilities. Even holed an eagle from 50 yards out! I can't even remember the last time I hit a shot like that 💯

A lot of people talk about “staying in the moment”, but Dr. Rotella does as good a job as anyone I have ever heard with giving the “how” to accomplish that. Hearing him talk about confidence the short game allowing a player to avoid discouragement/frustration when they don’t execute on their shot is a great example…in my mid 40s now and wish I had learned these lessons decades ago but so grateful for the way it’s helped me elevate my game as I have begun a return to tournament golf

I hope you get to play in The Masters because I will be rooting for ya. Seeing you on Sunday afternoon just two back and walking over to #12 tee after holing a 30 footer on 11 for bird would have you beaming with confidence. Then, taking it straight to the flag tucked behind that right bunker leaving you with a tap in birdie would set you up perfectly for making a bold charge for the green jacket. Then, seeing you in the Butler Cabin giving the interview to Jim Nanzt would be the moment you've dreamed of, that the mind is indeed a powerful silent assassin once mastered. This is why you're the Masters Champion 🏆. You can do it. You WILL do it. Sunday at Augusta 💪 A Cinderella story fueled by the wisdom of Bob Rotella.

@@quantumpotential7639 first, this is such awesome visualization! Appreciate the encouragement…from the time I was 13 I collected every official program from the Masters. The beauty of Augusta National, the traditions, the fact that you can play for life after you win it, everything about this has been a dream for decades. I’ll never forget being 2 years younger than Tiger and watching him hug his dad after winning his first green jacket only to share with my own son the memory of watching him win his most recent jacket and hugging his son afterwards. Appreciate your encouragement and helping remind me of another one of Dr. Rotella’s quotes, “I life spent chasing dreams is a life worth living”…still chasing :)

I feel like this book contains the closest thing to 'the secret of good golf' there is. The short game is being played for over half of the round, and it is the only way to score. A good long game is a fair weather friend, it won't always be with you when you need it. But a good short game is like a loyal dog - it'll never leave your side, no matter what the day brings.

There's a reason they made the size of the golf hole exactly the same size of the brain. 4.25" The short game is literally a matter of microscopic neurons.

I've read Gallwey's books on the Inner Game of Tennis, and Stress. He struggles to get his ideas across. I am loving Rotella's books. All of them have so much insight. Just look at the target and swing. And all the problems that come with that. I'm finding it's helping me in all kinds of motor skills and with stress.

It's a game changer. It's the absolute difference in being able to score. If a player has the physical ability to maintain a low handicap , this coupled with proper course management is the path to scratch golf.
