I think making fun of racists isn't controversial at all...?
Livia Whitesel Controversy is not an inherently subjective term. All it takes is a resulting conflict from a joke for the joke to be controversial.
Livia Whitesel Making up racists that don't exist is
Ku Klux Turtle Your profile name is more than enough of an incentive for people to not take you seriously. Lol
Your ellipses and question mark make me hear your comment in the voice of Anthony Crispino. "You hear about these racists, Seth... ?"
Livia Whitesel are you asking or telling us? Learn how to use symbols God damn it.
martin lawrence was banned from NBC, not just SNL. however, will smith got the nbc ban lifted so they could appear on the tonight show together to promote bad boys.
Sting Rey why tho...never understood what Martin did to get banned there....I know his show was on fox...but why no nbc love?
@@shopwrecker1785 he made a women's hygiene joke during his monologue that the producers warned him not to make.
@@xDreMack Which was very unnecessary. So many comics went on that show and went over the edge. Martin was just being Martin, and had 2 pay a heavier price than most over the edge comics who appeared on that show.
False. Removed when his show was on Fox with Kelsey Grammar
@@shopwrecker1785 it was all a misunderstanding on the networks behalf according to Martin in his Breakfast Club interview
Norm Macdonald is the best.
I'm not Norm your goddamn right.
Meh. Takes too long to get to the funny. I don’t have all day, dude. He is sorta funny when he’s funny, though, I guess.
True
I like his voice
Still has that nasal congestion.
How was kristen stewart being gay controversial and unusual language?
I think she was using that "I'm gay" in the wrong way. Ya know like when people used to use the phrase "That;'s so gay" when talking about something?
Jubilee Gonzalez
American society will never fully accept it as normalcy, unfortunately
it has been accepted as normal now these days openly getting married due to the laws that obama passed years ago
@@willhuey4891 not really man
@Colleen no she wasnt. she was seeing a woman, she'd only been dating women at that time. she was being literal
Norm MacDonald said it well: "I haven't gotten funnier. The show gotten really bad."
I love that man.
Sadly true.
Tracy S NORM and Sam were the only funny ones on this list.
Funny how Louie CK talked about Pizza and Kids in the same skit....
I mean, it's true.
Lol triggered right wingers are so cute. "Why should SNL be political?!" Because everything in the world is political. But keep the moronic talking points like how leftists are the crybabies. Yet, I've seen nothing but right winged losers who cry about SNL simply because they don't love Daddy Wannabe-Dictator Trump.
There’s 43 seasons of SNL and most of this list is from the past 4 years and a lot of these monologues were not considered controversial whoever made this list did not do their research...
Stephanie M according to this generation I think only the past few years count. What happened before them never happened
Jonathan Troc yeah I’m a millennial but I know what I’m talking about I am big fan of SNL but whoever contributed to this list obviously didn’t do much research
Yeah I think this list was pretty lazy.
Stephanie M Seriously, I am surprised they managed to include Kinison.
What do you expect from these people. They think Larry the Cable Guy is real.
Making fun of racists is considered "controversial." That's where we're at currently in our society right now. Let that sink in for a minute.
I think the point is that there's a time and a format for everything...and obviously that format isn't SNL
playing the 'let-that-sink-in' card....this must be serious.
I think some people do not like hearing the truth.
No one heard of Joan rivers 😂
The problem is calling people racists who aren't racists so that you can dismiss their arguments.
I just came to find out why Martin Lawrence couldn't join Tracy Morgan, Dave Chapelle, Chris Rock, and Kenan Thompson for Eddie Murphy's opening monologue last night.🤷🏾♂️😂
Holy shit I'm here for the same reason 😂😂
Literally why I'm here too
Martin couldn’t join them because he’s black! Duh 🙄
Nahhh..... the reason is they just didn't have a camera lens wide enough to fit the five of them along with Martin's thicc ass neck all in the same shot. If he was a bit closer to the size he was when they banned him, he woulda been allowed to show frfr.
How is it controversial to attack racists?
Americans can get offended by everything.
Guy: Wassup chief!
Friend: don't say chief!
Guy: jeez I'm sorry!
Friend: don't say I'm!
Because we live in a racist country
Typically, controversial is anything that attracts a bunch of negative attention from people who don't like what was said. That's why when Kumail attacked racists, he was met with a bunch of snowflakes that attacked him over it.
It is if they're not actually racist and you're calling them that just because they voted for someone you don't like
navid 313 They said Kumail Nanjiani attacking racists was controversial and he was talking about racists in general and not specific people, so that dumb argument is moot. Of course to your argument, people who voted for Trump either are racists or enjoy voting for racists, so... equally horrible.
“Attacked” hate groups.....let that sink in for a second lol
Ulysses Ferrer nn nnñlô bb
Trump supporters aren’t members of a hate group. Think.
K B yeah they are.
Nick Felix no they are not...
@@nickfelix9721 You *love big brother* and will attack anyone who *wrong thinks* or something like that.
Dave Chappelle is comedy GOLD!
So glad Norm's monologue is on here. One of my favorites LOL
The Kristen Stuart monologue was controversial? She said she's gay, dropped an F-bomb and talked about a politician tweeting. Not even much about the tweets themselves. Just the tweeting.
Louis C.K., I understand how that one was controversial. But the cringe factor actually makes that one funny for me.
ajmrowland I'd let Louie touch my boy. My boy will do whatever CK says.
Is she even gay?
She's not unlikeable she's boring.
yea she was in a relationship with Stella Maxwell for a long time (I think she still is) and I think she also dated St. Vincent so she's at least bi I guess.
I think they were just talking about the swear. None of these things were controversial in my eyes but okay whatever UA-cam video Im watching
It should never be controversial to call out racists.
PrinceCanute
Right!!!!
exactly
this comment is racist . You have to now argue how it's not racist and we're gonna spend all day talking about your proclivities.
That demands on who you are calling racist, the reasoning behind making that claim, how much proof you have in that claim, how legit it is. Otherwise you get Jimmy Kimmel.
What are you talking about? It isnt and it never was
I love Aziz, but its not "brave" to crack jokes about Trump on SNL. In fact its expected.
Perhaps, but by doing so he could open himself up to the disapproval of Trump's legions (and maybe even Donald himself).
It's not brave when you're white. He ain't that.
Also calling millions of Trump supporters racist.
It should be titled “political monologues” because some of these shouldn’t be controversial at all
Too much analysis, not enough actual footage.
rhythmoriented Watch Mojo has been always like this
, yes bro it’s such a shame
rhythmoriented per usual
Plus copyright
They probably didn't want to be copyright strikes. :/
rhythmoriented it has to meet fair use standards
So attacking racism is "controversial"? Excuse me?
To the left, everything is racist.
shiva1008
It's controversial to accuse half the country of is racist just because they don't agree with you politically
Matt ____ T That’s not what he did though. He just attacked racists in general.
C. Alexandros Not really
Attacking racists isn’t controversial, they chose a terrible lifestyle and need to face the consequences
Dave Chappelle's monologues have been fantastic
Came for Norm
Me too.
Do you guys mean you gave Adam 15 bucks under the Queensboro Bridge?
@@kradz3667 must of I heard he was there yesterday. Lol Norm is a genius.
Came for Turd Ferguson
Hope you had a towel at the ready
Norm McDonald hit the nail on the head about the show being bad.
You don't have to watch it
@@MrScaramanga16 woke much?
I just wish that ABC's early-80s attempt to compete with SNL - "Fridays" - were still around today, because that show was more subversive than SNL ever was, or ever will be!
Of course, we can always hope for someone to bring that show back on basic cable!
@@proudtobehereeverything I don’t like is woke 😂😂😂
America, where saying I'm so gay is considered controversial
It's actually much MORE controversial in other cultures - the middle east and africa come to mind.
And snl isnt America, its snl
it was because she used foul language which can be anywhere from a 200,000-500,000 dollar fine since its live and a show targeted for people of all ages.
It's not controversial. Just because some random youtube channel says so doesnt make it so.
It was the "F Bomb", that was controversial, not her coming out. They explained that. Thanks for taking an unnecessary shot at my country, though. Super classy, of you.
Norm's monologue has to be hands down the greatest FU monologue ever!
It's funny that Rodney Dangerfield warned him the first time not to go on SNL since he did not think that Sam's humor blended with network tv
Almost none of these are controversial at all.
Norm McDonald always pushes it
Norm was absolutely hilarious is in his return. That guy has balls.
So glad Norm's monologue is on here. One of my favorites LOL
"The show has gotten really bad." Spot on there, Norm.
It's ooooooooooooooooo so bad😥
You can have your own opinion, even tho you’re wrong, but I mean you don’t have to watch it....
The whole Martin thing was blown out of proportion.
Why are you quoting his monologue?
I watched that monologue when it originally aired and I don't think I ever saw the unedited version again. I was about sixteen at the time but not fully educated in certain things so some of his comments went over my head. It's twenty-three years later and I now see why he was banned. Even today that's some pretty rough talk for network TV.
it was a rehash of one of his jokes and Red Foxx. I didn't think it was offensive, but hey....
on deaf jam it worked lol
moral of the story: don't offend white people...or women!
Alien Person He literally talked about women having a yeast infection because they don't wash their ass properly and then referenced oral sex by saying you would go down there and come up with dough on your lips. That's a bit much for SNL.
Remember when SNL didn't suck ass? Norm McDonald remembers.
LOL!! When Tina Fey left as Head Writer and Seth "I'm In Love With Obama" Meyers took over, the show started to go downhill.
+colleen it was bad when Tina fay was in it, stopped being funny in mid 90s
I liked the Tina Fey era myself, It stopped being funny when Seth Meyers took over. Which brings up the question...how the HELL is it getting good ratings now?!?! Honestly, who the hell is watching this show?! I can name a certain number of states who I know are not watching this at all now...so who is?! (How many relatives does Alec Baldwin have?!?!)
+colleen it myself never thought she was funny, but I agree, I know noone who watches it now
The people watching it only watch SNL for their constant Trump jokes
Norm for the win. That story about a magazine asking SNL cast members for their opinions on Chris Kattan for a profile piece they were doing abut him is too funny. Everyone gives the standard oh he's so great, he's just so talented bullshit that you'd expect, apart from Norm who's response was, "I don't know. he seems gay to me. Not that there's anything wrong with being gay, it's just that he claims to be straight. I never met a supposedly straight guy that just seems so gay, like attracted to men and stuff you know? but he claims he's attracted to women, so yeah whatever.I suppose"
Thanks for spending 90 percent of the time explaining what happened, that's so much better than getting to see it for ourselves.
Yeah it's pretty annoying when they do that in their lists.
You’ve never seen watchmojo before, eh 😉?
That’s, like, their thing.
@@RockOn78 Yeah, it's also kind of UA-cam's thing.
Is it bad that I find Louis CK's monologue unconventionally hilarious?
Aiden Garcia Thanks, my friend
No. Because it is funny.
It’s actually funny but in a the wrong way
It's That Type Of Humor That You KNOW You Shouldn't Laugh At Because In Your Heart Of Hearts You Know That It's Wrong...............
But You Simply Just Can't Help It 😂
Dark humor is the best humor
WTF Norm McDonalds Dead Pan comedy is hella funny
love norm
Me too.
+colleen he was one of the last real funny ones to leave
And he didn't even leave by choice, he got sacked for saying an O.J. Simpson joke!
+colleen see if didn't even know that at the time, I was noticing he wasn't on there, loved him on the news segment, if was like, wtf is Norm
nobody's a real OG more than martin
I can't watch this... you're just talking about the monologues and leaving the darn monologue out. BOO
It is what WatchMojo does. Make a list and then talk about it rather than letting the list play out. I should know to avoid them but I keep getting looking only at the title and expecting to actually see what the title advertises.
I know, what a bummer
WatchMojo is a business, putting the full clips would demonitise the video or get it taken down.
I see this complaing in every video. It's a list, and it gives reference enough for you to find the damn thing yourself. Playing the entire thing would at least triple the length of the video, seriously screw the pace, and this was never meant to be anything other than what it is. If I have one complain is that I wish they grew some balls and started making the lists themselves instead of letting people vote
"Aziz Ansari was the first south Asian performer to host SNL". That's quite a feat considering he was born in Columbia South Carolina.
But he attacked Trump and his supporters though, so brave.
Nanjiani's monologue wasn't controversial, it needed to be said
Who IS that guy, I've never heard of him?
colleen
Check out the film The Big Sick, pretty good ;)
Dont recognize him from anything else though ;P
Oh, THAT'S who he is. Thanks for clearing that up.
Yeah, no. It's the same shit ppl have been saying since announcing his campaign run. "He's a racist" is all you've got lolol.
Nah, we've got a lot more.
Holy shit I had no idea Norm MacDonald used to be so smokin hot o.O
Kristen: "Alessia cara is here and ill never come back"
🤣
Remember when people wouldn't get so butthurt about jokes? yeah, neither do I
JoeJoe remember when people didn't exist?
Even Pepperidge farms doesn't remember
JoeJoe Barely. Yeah, that's why in comedy for me Brits always win over American humor. However Americans show more emotion. Sorry, honestly, but I've watched enough shows to prove it time and time again. Ex:US Office vs UK Office.
I do. Mel Brooks remembers. Or didn't care. Either way, let's all go watch Blazing Saddles or History of the World Part 1.
Omg so true
Aziz Ansari? Brave? Edgy? Calling Trump and his supporters racist? Wow. Comic gold.
So stunning lol
You guys are though right, I mean you made that pretty clear? I'm sorry at the very least if you are Trump supporter than you might not like aggressively hate people that are of a different color or religion but you certainly don't have a problem with our president hating people that are a different color or religion. So I guess that's better...🤷♀️🙄
BunnyGaloreBear you’re right, people shouldn’t punch down on a small minority.
Martian Lawrence will be back when Bad Boys 3 is released. Lol
Not really
Norm will probably go down as one of the most underrated comics of all time.
Bring back MadTV and all the original cast!!!
Madtv>snl
Boy Aditya YESSSSS! They made fun of everyone, they weren't one sided.
Whoever brings it back should say, "LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!" and hop!
Boy Aditya
Debra Wilson as Oprah
Boy Aditya taaaaannnkkkk in my Daewoo
I think there's no need to show that all those episodes are from SNL since it's a list from them. Why not show the date each episode was aired? That's more useful 😇
Google is an amazing resource.
.
"Sam Kinison was one of a kind....." (1:39)
Well said ! Miss you, Sam.... :-(
.
It’s weird, isn’t this the list of the BEST monologues? Lol
NO!!!!
Before I look at this video, Martin Lawrence is #1 on this list.
VjOnItGood81 you watched it first obviously
i remember seeing that live when i was young. scarred me for life.
@@herculesbrofister265 what, Specifically, did he say that was so taboo? Since it hasn't been aired since; what was That raunchy abt women's hygiene that he got banned? ty
Essentially All monologues from 2017?...lol
With the exception of the Martin Lawrence and Louis CK, I don’t think any of these were controversial.
I want to know what Martin could have possibly said that made them not show his monologue 😂
The Louis Ck one was hilarious 😂
Remember when SNL wasn't so political? I memba (edit: thanks for taking this comment seriously, I love all your replies)
hmm yes interesting - Pepperridge farm remembers...
Jaclyn Mae Yes, but what's the comparative ratio?
hmm yes interesting where the hell you been, SNL has always been political.
ajmrowland, I don't know, perhaps you should binge every single episode of SNL and quantify it for us all.
Yes becacuse SNL has never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever made fun of the president before.
I think Martin had a nervous breakdown around that time.
Only funny one that had any relevance was Norm McDonald
This is some of the weakest “controversy” I’ve ever seen...but considering how milquetoast SNL is, can’t say it’s surprising
Martin's shirt looks like a HUGE plaid tent
Howard Hessman when he made a John Belushi overdose joke based on the cheeseburger cheeseburger sketch
Kumail's monologue was fantastic. Nearly had me in tears
Glad someone found it funny. Louis C.K. and Norm's was the best.
Erm. What about the pilot? George Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can’t Say Over Air” was essentially industry standard for decades.
George did the 7 dirty words long before SNL.
Went to Google found his SNL monolog - boring, not that funny, spent his time comparing football to baseball.

Teacher:...and that's why spermcells are made of glucose.
Student: So sperm is sugar?
Teacher: Technically yes
Student: But it doesn't taste sugar
Teacher: What?
Student: What?
Heh
That joke is so overused it's not even funny and the science behind it is actually pissing me off.
Glucose isn't actually sweet. When it reacts with fructose it makes sucrose which is sweet. Sperm isn't made of sucrose.
Sperm is also made out of DNA, proteins and fats (phospholipids, polypeptides, polysaccharides as well), I don't know why it doesn't taste like chicken then 🤔
Interesting.
Ropsana Khanom lmao issa joke
@@RK-ep8qy was the student a young petite female
I saw the Martin Monologue when it aired. It was the same feminine hygiene bit he does in You So Crazy. Watch that if you wanna see what he said since it’s banned now
Ooh boy that escalated quickly
Most of theses are Recent
Stuff wasn't controversial until recently...
steven alvarez have you noticed that quite a majority of these are standup monologues? It’s really weird. I guess doing standup on Snl leads to controversy.
The internet.
steven alvarez Too many are recent...As I wrote earlier, those responsible for this pathetic edit are obviously millennials-a generation of the most self-absorbed assholes in history.
EZRDEN what other kind is there
SNL had some classic moments. RIP Chris Farley. I wish I could get the chance to be on the show.
You do realize the portrayed EVERY president since the creation? They have always been political, their just making fun of a guy you like
If you got the difference between jokes at the expense of your friends and jokes against people you don’t like.

Oh just cringing when adults go all stressed when they say the F-WORD!!! The horror of it all!
It's the STATION AND THE SPONSORS not the INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE that are bothered. GROUPS attached to MONEY that DICTATE MORES.
I sometimes forget how big clothes got in the 90s.
11:04 he got soooo nervous😂
Ok but Kristen's "I'm like...so gay, dude" was ICONIC and I will hear nothing about it
Good list watchmojo, it's been a while
I respect you Watch Mojo. Please let the clips go longer
I watched the episode with Larry David in it with my dad. He looked so freaking uncomfortable! 😂
Norm MacDonald is freaking hilarious
The video ends with "do you agree with our picks?"
The answer is no, it seems like who ever came up with it took 10 min to make it and barely reached for any.
This was a fun video ;)
Let's add Bill burr to the list now 🎉🎉😆
so, in conclusion, Martin Lawrence's speech about female hygiene almost got SNL to be canceled?
Right smh I guess A lot of those females had smelly twats 😂😂😂 and got upset because a "black man" was calling them out. I've heard worse from other white comedians on snl, it all boils down to race in my opinion.
Cicely Shepherd discrimination
im still watching every snl episode, i remember laughing twice during weekend update in the last four seasons.
I was actually expecting the Martin Lawrence monologue to be number one. I actually had it on VHS somewhere. It's pretty messed up. I can actually quote quite a bit of it.
RIP Sam Kinison, you will always be missed.
I thought SNL was a sketch-comedy show, not CNN
You mean CNN isn't a comedy at this point?
ajmrowland I laugh at Don Lemon and Nancy whatever her last name is whenever they say stupid shit on TV.
This is how this Top Ten went: Fake news fake news fake news Norm MacDonald fake news fake news fake news
Martin must of trained with All Might talking bout I Am Here
Geez, a lot of them were recent

Norm. Always funny.
Interesting list. Norm is hysterical.
"One person's joke ends up being another person's insult. Welcome to 2017 United States of America."
The #1 pick is from 1994.
What was your point again?
Alec Pridgen
Lol are you dumb? When was this video created? 2017... goes to show we love to judge the past with our sensitive present day mindset.
Hey Thomas, this Episode was controversial in 1994. We didn't just go back and edit it now. It was done in 1994 and is STILL seen that way now.
Your logic is nonexistent.
Alec Pridgen
Regardless, because I disagree, somehow because the #1 pick was from 1994, my point is invalid? Yes, the 1994 one stands out as timelessly offensive. But come on, most of these are recent.
Yeah, but, again, your point- "One person's joke ends up being another person's insult. Welcome to 2017 United States of America."
The #1 pick is from 1994.
Your point is silly...and not much of a point to begin with.
Just move on now, man.
9 of these were just hosts getting political. Orange man bad!
Actually Chappelle was criticized by the left for being open minded and taking shots at them as well rather than just bashing Trump. If anything the controversy was that he and Chris Rock did a skit later where they poked fun at members of the left who were caught off guard by Hillarys losing.
What's crazy is that it's political to say that bigots aren't smart and should go away. That should be a common sense statement and it should be a shame to to Republicans that anybody talking badly about bigots is in turn automatically talking about trump and by extension them
Luis CK is a fashion icon
Kumail’s monologue was great
top 10 best Stargate episodes
That sounds awesome!
Hmm. I'd watch the heckers out of that
Too much commentary
I remember watching the Martin Lawrence monologue...something about a bagel with cream cheese on his lip...eeew
I think you forgot George Carlin
lol, this some weak stuff. After the absolutely nothing controversial (imo) of Kristen, I stopped watching the vid.
What was she WEARING, though? That was so ugly...looked like a slip!
I guess you missed the Norm MacDonald part.
Why are you naming them controversial when they are almost all in all about Trump?
You just love em, don't you? Cheap thrills.
Louis does the best SNL monologues. As much as I love Chris and Dave.
Fun Fact: Norm was actually thinking of walking off and leaving the set after the monologue. I forgot who, but one of his friends talked him out of it because it would come back to bite him on his ass.
