This is awesome. I love how the "upgrade" is easily switched if you want to keep the older look to the light output.

Thanks for the suggestion. There's a few of them on YT so I'll probably try to find different things. There's all kinds of rust out there.
I'd have used warmer LEDs but I enjoyed it regardless.

The sanding of the reflector was my favorite part. Bringing anything to a shine always brings a riveting sense of anticipation.

Lithium Ion would be more usable in the lamp. LiPos are a little too explode-ey & don't like sitting with charge.

i actually have this exact latern the only difference between the two is that instead of the back panel coming off, my front panel plus light cone comes off. this is awesome I never thought i'd see Someone restoring one let alone know what they are.

That is so cool! I've seen these in movies and wondered what tehy looked like up-close and how well worked compared to modern versions. It looks like they're pretty functional! I'd buy one to take camping.
The funniest thing about it is that it's still a perfectly usable flashlight by modern standards. Awesome.
