Ok u got a new follower 🎉 😅 little bit disappointed in myself for not taking advantage of this opportunity already. Now that I have a laundry list of new ideas I’m gonna go have sum fun. Bought a 02 ram with the 4.7 that’s just waiting to get brought back to life….
I literally forgot them and went back the following day to grab the 08 rockers and some 12hole GM ecotec fuel injectors. Thank you for the info though! Thanks for the view!
This job was supposed to be just a valve stem seal replacement and now has turned into a cam swap also lol I'm trying not to spend more than I should be. I am kind of interested to see if I can notice any change with just the cams installed. Thanks for the view!
@@TylerPotter I'm looking forward to the cam install and review from ya. Love the insight and information you give on your WJ. Your channel has been useful in helping me with somethings for my WJ (99 4.0 Laredo). Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to more great WJ content!
Could you skip the junkyard line and just order factory cams for a 2008 4.7? Thanks for any info? Tight on time so junkyard might not work for me. Also love the video!
Just looked them up on EBay and they’re like $70 with free shipping. Seems like I’d rather go this route than search and work at a junkyard for parts they’re going to charge me for anyway.
I didn't want to mess with the throttle body adaptor for the 08+ manifold, so I've got a 03+ manifold on the toolbox waiting for me to find motivation.
@@TylerPotter I’m telling you man, just the throttle response alone is worth the time. Keep an eye out. Some people sell the adapter plate for cheap on eBay occasionally.
Damn dude you gave me an idea for my jeep thank you!!! Everyone been hassling me to get rid of it but I’ve done emotionally fell in love with my cheap jeep and I wanna fix it it runs strong rn but I can tell it’s getting worse and I’m not a big mechanic but I need to start somewhere
I went back the next day for the 08 rocker arms lol I also have a 2003+ intake waiting to go on (didn't want to mess with the throttle body adaptor) Thanks for the view!
I really didn't want to deal with adapting the throttle body for the 08 intake. I ended up with a 2002 4.7 HO intake when I put the motor back together. Thanks for the view!
I guess this same thing Martin does woth HO cam shafts for his 4.7. I found an HO but for some reason the engine was tossed in the trunk and cams are exosed but sitting in pool water. So didnt think would be good to take. Wait to find one not in the trunk.
Yes these 2008+ 4.7L cams have a slightly more aggressive intake cam profile then the HO cams. So if your going through the trouble of swapping cams you might as well get the most aggressive factory cams possible with the 2008+ cams. Thanks for the view!
I will defiantly make a video, I've got new millings lifters, 2008 cams, 2008 rocker arms, 2003+ intake manifold, GM 12 hole ecotec fuel injectors and valve stem seals all ready to get installed, now I just need to find the time to tear apart a perfectly good running engine lol
@@TylerPotter Tyler how is it? I sincerely hope you have MartinBilts valve spring tool. Barring that, have the engine on a stand. Lol. Taking the engine out is actually only 2 or 3 electrical connectors. I found, online a couple engine wiring harnesses and one complete electrical harness including the ECU (PCM) to BCM interface and engine fuses for a 2001 4.7 limited.
This was at a Wichita KS LKQ pick and pull yard. We normally off-road at Tuttle creek off-road park, Disney Off-road park and Kansas rocks off-road park. Thanks for the view!
No since they aren't that crazy of a cam like an aftermarket cam, the factory tune will be able to adjust fuel trim with the O2 sensors for the added air. Thanks for the view!
Cuts harnesses and lays oily cams on a seat to stain the piss out of them. The next guy who comes along needing a harness and a driver's seat is gonna be a bit angry, as well as the owner of the salvage yard losing revenue.
This salvage yard is a little different than most, doors are often left open in the rain and vehicles only are in the yard a few months before they get crushed and recycled.
The parts are still piled up on my tool box lol I will eventually install everything, but it's just really hard for me to tear apart a perfectly good running motor! Thanks for the view!
If you could have seen the seats in person you wouldn't have felt bad about it lol I think the doors had been left open in the rain too many times. Thanks for the view!
I was thinking the same thing, Junkyard rules are to try to leave everything you can intact for the next guy and he cut wires and stained the seats, do better. Other than that love seeing you save WJ's.
Hey Tyler, it's always a good day when you find what you're looking for at the junkyard!!!! Thanks for taking me along!! 👍👍🎄
You got that right! Now I just need to get motivated to reinstall them!
@@TylerPotter LOOK UP ( MARTIN BUILDS ) HE UPGRADES HIS WJ
@@tammylott921 I've watched a lot of his videos! He does awesome work!

Nice thank you so much for the follow!
Thanks for the cam tip, I cant wait to get them, I have a 2000 wj im in love with.
Nice it is the factory 4.7L upgrade for our older 4.7's.
I really like your junkyard videos man.
Thanks it's always fun to see what is out there! Thanks for the view!
Just wondering if you put the 08 cams in and if they worked as you thought? If so, do you notice any difference?
Hey consider using the rockers out of the 08 as well. The 05+ have a squirting tip on the rockers. Helps save the tappets
I literally forgot them and went back the following day to grab the 08 rockers and some 12hole GM ecotec fuel injectors. Thank you for the info though! Thanks for the view!
@@TylerPotterAre the ecotec injectors for the Jeep?
Why not get the 08 intake as well? Some places online sell throttle body adapters for the original throttle body to make things more bolt on.

Shoulda grabbed that intake manifold too. Those 08 intakes are also a big bump in power as well in comparison to be stock and ho intake manifolds .

@@TylerPotter I sell an adapter kit for $80 that allows you to use your TB on the 08 intake.
@@doctorwhodude82 have a website or ebay link?
@@TylerPotter not as of yet. Working on it though
Hope someone didn't need that wiring harness 😂
Someone had already broken a lot of connectors on that engine harness so I didn't feel too bad lol but good catch. Thanks for the view!

Yeah the 2008 4.7 cams are a pretty cool "factory" upgrade. I still have mine waiting to go in once I find the motivation lol Thanks for the view!
Was that a single take timelapse? Talk about a smooth pull. Cordless tools FTW, 10 years ago that'd have taken 3x as long.
Yes! Can you imagine this with hand tools! It would have taken 3 times as long! Thanks for the view!
You should of took the intake and the rocker arms .and the alternater. All it is the up grade for the grand cherokee wj 4.7L
I went back the next day for the 08 rocker arms lol I also have a 2003+ intake waiting to go on (didn't want to mess with the throttle body adaptor) Thanks for the view!
Shoulda just took the motor!
Just throw some valve sealant in it lol. Those engines were notorious for terrible problems but they do make incredible power.
Yeah I don't love working on them but for some reason they keep following be home! Thanks for the view!
Should have gotten the intake as well while you where there
I really didn't want to deal with adapting the throttle body for the 08 intake. I ended up with a 2002 4.7 HO intake when I put the motor back together. Thanks for the view!
Grab the intake with an adapter it's much better than the 1st gen intake aswell
I ending up getting a 2002 4.7 HO intake because I didn't want to deal with the throttle body adapter. Thanks for the view!

Is this the same engine in the Dodge Durango 2002 and can it be supercharged or turboed?
Yes it is the same 4.7 engine, but the stock pistons apparently don't take very much boost before the ring lands come apart. Thanks for the view!
