You take apart these old consoles with a care worthy of a master. I tried to take apart my old Sega Dreamcast and when I put it back together I had missing parts. 😭 Watching your videos is extremely satisfying. Greetings from Mexico, Sayaka (and to anyone who might read this). Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much! Sometimes it happens to me too if I’m not super careful. Watching guides online is really helpful to keep track of the parts. Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
Your soldering work is very professional. You have patience, a steady hand, and persistence to fix the issues. Great videos as always, you are a good inspiration for my young daughter. Thank you!
About 10 years ago, I ordered 5 non-functional Dreamcast consoles for very little money and for the most part, it was either a bad PSU or bad laser lens, so I fixed them, cleaned them and gave most to my nephews and nieces ~ I still own my original Saturn and Dreamcast though!
@@Sayakas_Digital_Attic It was really satisfying! I have zero engineering experience, just did it for the love of Sega consoles. I did fix all of them, but after a few months, one presented the same potentiometer problem you had with the 2nd Saturn, which I eventually fixed after researching it a little bit.

your work on old tech is so cool and admirable!! i've always wanted to get into the hobby to help keep older technology alive, and seeing you successfully repair almost every piece of tech you get your hands on is very inspiring :D keep doing what you do, its amazing!!
Great to see how you repair/restore the devices from my childhood. It pains me to think how many of them I've thrown away because they were broken, unaware that probably a couple simple repairs would have kept them working.
I love to see your enthusiasm when you see that the console is working. You are like "How can this be happening?!" even though it was your talent that made it work in the first place :D
Nice repairs. I'm surprised the capacitor installed wrong way hadn't exploded in similar way as the varistor, but I guess the bottom of it gave in and let the juice out corroding the board.

The same when you turn them upside down in order to disassemble them. A towel below them woild be nice. That's the first time I watch you. Props for the job.
I love it when people fix old game systems! Respect to the retro game industry, never give up on these old systems. If a system can't be fixed then part it out... Never let games and consoles end up in landfills.
I just recently installed the Fenrir in my broken model 1 Saturn! It's fun taking these systems apart. I've been taking apart my consoles since I was young, lol.

I really love that you show how to fix things. It was helpfull for me to learn things. Some other youtubers say what they have done but you are actually showing it.❤
I just started my console modding/repairing journey this year and it has been a blast. I just modded a Dreamcast today to read games off of CompactFlash (keeping the disc drive). I also did a Saturn FRAM mod recently. Watching you troubleshoot has been really instructive. Great video!
The blown component is a 5D-11 NTC (Negative Temperature Co-Efficient) Thermistor, which is used for current surge protection. If you measured it with a multi-meter it probably is open circuit. The 5D-11 is rated @ 4amps max and its resistance is around 5ohm at room temperature which decreases significantly with increasing temperature i.e. current surge ;-)
This brings me joy. I normally deal with front end software issues. So, learning more about fixing and the planning steps to think what could be the issue is neat. I hope the same can be done for current technology. I feel more is built to fail and not built to be adjusted, but I hope I am wrong.
Just found your channel today thanks to UA-cam recommendations, and I absolutely love your content! Watching do these repairs is really fun and enjoyable 💕 Keep up the good job! Much love from Argentina 💞

another great fix-it mod you could do is to replace the SRAM with F-RAM on those, its cheap and pretty easy but does take a bit of heat soaking with hot air to get it done.
You're amazing fixing that sick of Saturn. I seen a lot of people fix on UA-cam but you make it look like an art
