    Another comprehensive review! Your video on the SM 36mm Explorer homage was a big factor in that purchase and I suspect that coupled with this smaller well executed 62mas homage a lot of versatility can be had with just this two watch SM combination. Unfortunately my initial SM purchase came during the brief period when the bracelet buckle reverted to two micro adjustments and it’s now going on two months for the better buckle I purchased to arrive which is mildly annoying. (I’m sharing that because I don’t hear much about SM customer service.) You are perhaps my favorite watch content provider and I never miss an episode. Thanks for all you do!

    I have the 41mm. Try it on an H-Link Sharkmesh (the chunky Plo Prof style ones). Like you I found, specifically, the male end links huge. I have a 7 inch wrist and it wore very strangely indeed. The mesh made it a completely different watch. I'll be interested to try this one because I do love these chunky bracelets.

    The one thing that made me not buy this is those darn lugs! I don't understand why SM didn't taper them. They look way too rectangular and it makes the watch look weird. Went with the Seestern version for this reason only.

      Yes I'm with you on that one. It surprised me as well but I thought the case of the original was like this as well 🤷

    The Seiko SPB143J case is 40.5 - bezel is just 39.5. Lug to Lug 47.5, height is 13,5. It fits in a perfect way at my wrist. I dont think I'll ever buy a homage copy (use to have a higher quality movement than a PT5000 inside) for 50% of the price of the original watch - got my SPB brand new for 900 Bucks. Sorry - the asked price by SM is way to high in my eyes. If you personally prefere 37 and 47.5 Lug to Lug is to big for your wrist it may be an alternative.

    Oh wow.... That size is just like the Seestern version I ordered. They differentiated their version though ... With a high beat movement

    I have both the large Sn007 V4 and now 37mm San Martin (with the Selita SW movement, got it during sale wth coupons for $375). In fact the 37mm is on my wrist right now. The reason the lume appears slightly green s just due to how strong it is. Youre seeing the glow. Depending on the light it can appear white, or slightly green.. My only complaint with the 37 is the blue tinted AR coating. The larger V4 has no tint and that looks better imho. I debated between the Seestern and SM but I love the SM Clasp and like the bracelet(even though its not perfect) so i went with SM as the Seestern looks to have a cheap bracelet (im not much of a strap guy, although I do have the larger SM on a single pass nato right now and that does elp it fit my wrist better than the bracelet so Im trying that off and On to see how i feel about straps)

      I know a 37mm sounds so cool, because it is a vintage spens a little bit, but it is actually a to-small watch for a average mans hand?

  • @watch-box
    @watch-box 2 роки тому +4

    Had SM released this before I purchased the Seestern, I would have jumped at the chance to buy it. This is the size it should always have been.
    There's no doubt this is a beautiful watch, however the price that they are asking is way too high.
    I would love to see a comparison between the sunburst grey dial Seestern and the SM.
    There's not enough here to convince me to upgrade from the watch I own (and love).
    Too late San Martin. You've produced a watch that is already available, and are charging much more for it!
    Thanks for sharing you're thoughts Olivier.

    37mm is just too small for me, especially for a diver… I tried a Seiko 5 SNK805 and it looked like I stole my kid’s watch lol (8 inches here, I can go down to 38 for non divers and 40 for divers).
    But it looks nice and will probably fit a lot of smaller wrists !

      It doesn't wear small on an average wrist. In fact wearing this size for a bit makes you wish this was the standard. At least with the Seestern... Which might beer closer to 38mm.

  • @ramspencer5492
    @ramspencer5492 2 роки тому +1

    The quality of the Seestern is remarkable. Thier finishing is very similar to San Martin. They have a superior feature as well....a custom lumed date window. The bezel action on mine is good .... Tight, sounds amazing....but not the best as far as ease of turning. It's a little hard to turn. Amazing value for money though.

    This is such a lovely watch in the perfect size! However I think there is no need for a 4 Hz PT5000 movement in this watch. Why not use a more reliable Seiko movement in this watch which would also bring the price down a little bit? And I prefer this watch design on a waffle strap. I think is wasn't originally designed for a bracelet which is why it always looks a litte awkward with these quite long end links.

      @@Horologique ..... San Martin watches tend to have some overly sharp edges which Armida's do not , Armida have excellent gaskets on the screw down crown and tube giving it 300 meter rating . Excellent bracelet with micro adjustable ratchet clasp . It has a sensible case back without that cartoonish shark that is individually numbered ( although these are not limited editions ) .... The San Martin raised logo on the dial does not have a vintage look , same with the ceramic bezel insert .... for a vintage homage an aluminium bezel insert is essential ..... @@marcuschamp1460 the SM mas62 with a 4hz movement is an interesting option for most people out there who missed Seiko's SLA limited release. Seestern offers essentially the same package for $200, so why would you spend double on the same homage? Alternatively you could spend $1000 on the real-deal SPB prospex, with a better movement and finishing that would blow the Armida out of the water.
