ENGWE EP-2. E-bike / Fitting A ZOOM Suspension Seat Post.
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 жов 2020
- After failing to find the elusive comfy seat, I decided to try a suspension seat post by Zoom. Well, what a difference ! This is certainly recommended for that comfy ride, and at a great price.
Getting it to fit the massive down tube of the Engwe EP-2 was a bit of a fiddle, but using 2 adaptors appears to have done the job and looks quite tidy. You will need the 31.6 seat post and a 33.9 adaptor.
Update !!! I have now found an adaptor that goes from 31.6 to 36mm.

Well done by sorting it out & yes I've fitted one to my E-bike as well & would recommend this idea to anyone as long as they are not at the bottom of the post height because if your seat post is fully lowered this is going to put the saddle 40mm higher because of the suspension work..
I believe the screws go towards the back of the seat.
I could really do with one of those. Every ramp i go over is uncomfortable! Thanks for sharing.
No problem. certainly make a difference.
@@MidlandBulletRiders I wish I had the mechanical knowhow to do it, but I'm useless. I'm currently waiting for the Engue website to say the part is back in stock.
I already ordered it online. Cant wait to use it. Ty for this vid ☺
Glad it helped you.
Great info, specially on all the diameter sizes, thank you! Just what I needed to order one for my new Engwe L20, kind regards.
They work really well for little cost.
Just bought an Engwe Engine Pro and found the included plastic shim to be too smooth and over time - despite adjusting the quick release tension screw - the post slides down. I thought I'd replace the seatpost with my old bike's Suntour NCX suspension post, but finding it to be 31.6mm (which is less than the Engwe 33.9mm) meant using a double shim like you've used. However, thanks to your links to an AliE seatpost shim I managed to order a 31.6mm to 36mm shim that would avoid the double shim, and as a bonus it's made from aluminium, so it should grip a whole lot better too.
Yes it's not the best design. Let us know how you get on with the new shim.
many thanx - great review - i ride on similar paths, and no need to break the bank with the pricier seatposts
I agree. Mine has held up well with constant use.
I used gorilla tape to thickin it up again as you say not ideal but its worked well so far!
Thorough. Great review. Thanks
Thanks
good demo, I will buy one soon !
Well worth the money.
Awesome review 💯🔥got mine on the way 😁👊🏼☮️
I'm sure you will enjoy it.
@@MidlandBulletRiders it came 2day & I can't believe how well it works on my Voodoo Bantu MTB, thanks 4 showing & sharing such a brilliant honest review.😁🤘🏼👊🏼☮️🚴
Added the same post (no adapter) to my R8 plus a "Fat Bum" saddle (both from ebay). Makes the ride much more comfy.
A well worth addition aren't they.
Great review
👍
Great video 've got one in post
Thanks
You'll enjoy it for sure !
What a coincidence, it's the one i just ordered. Thanks, now i know it works well.
Good choice, it's certainly makes a difference.
is there anywhere in the UK i can buy this?

Hi I got a zoom post yesterday and did the exact same thing put it on the wrong way round easy mistake so I had a bit of a chuckle when I seen the video ,yes the zoom post is a great idea makes the ride more comfortable .
Makes such a difference. It should come as a standard fitting. I imagine it would cost them very little to do it, and make a good selling point.
If your still having pain I would also raise the seat a little, your legs should be a little bent when the peddle is all the way down. It sounds weird but it makes a huge difference
Nice video, always find your videos informative! We went for the Suntour SP12-NCX seat post, (for EP-2), pushes the seating position back an inch or so, which ideal. I don't know why Engwe make these seats posts so massive, fitting was a bit of a faff, as like you had to use 2 shims to secure the post properly. Though these suspension seat posts are a massive improvement.
Thanks. They're a night and day improvement in my opinion.
Hope mine fits I've just ordered a 27.2
I added the seat post to the Schwinn Ascension tomorrow.
Where can i buy those plastic adapters?? I have bought a zoom seatpost for over a month now and the aluminium adapter but it still wont fit in!! Can somebody please help me!
i've been considering buying this thing, i have the engwe c20 pro
Don't think you would regret it, mine's given me so much pleasure.
I put the Zoom seat post and a Cloud-9 gel saddle on my RadRunner and the combo is very cushy on my tushy.
Do you find that using a seat has you in position thats too far forward on the bike? I took my seat post off and slid the passenger seat up and its comfy since i can sit back, but i cant really pedal comfortably and the bumps are killer. So i've been thinking of switching to a suspension seat post + suspension seat.
@@marshallmaia8130
Well being a utility bike the seating is upright and a little forward, but at 5'9" I don't have any problem with my setup.
😏
No more sore bottoms!
Even better now, there's a video coming up this weekend about a new saddle I've fitted.
Looks great in functionality
Definitely an improvement.
Oh great thanks for confirming. I just bought one myself.
Hi, I received my shiny orange EP-2 this afternoon (Fri 27/11), I ordered it on Mon 23/11 afternoon so that 4 days for delivery, well impressed and delivered by DPD a decent courier as well, it shipped from Poland which seems to be their European distribution point.
I have had a bit of a problem with the seat, I am pretty short and only have a 27" inside leg, so with the seat set as low as possible it was still a bit too high. so I took the seat off the post and turned the seat bar clamps round 180 deg, this dropped the seat by about 3/4" so it is a bit better. You have to get the post clamp done up really tight before clamping it up toget the seat post tight.
Having watched this video I wanted to fit a suspension seat post but it will raise the seat by about 2", so I don't think I will be able to do it. I have already ordered adapters to do it, one 31.6 to 33.9mm and another one from 33.9 to 36.0mm. I might try the 33.9 to 36mm instead of the plastic one the bike comes with and see if that is any better.
So the battery is on charge and will try to get out on it tomorrow weather permitting, looking forward to lots of fun!
Great service you received there. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
@@MidlandBulletRiders Bit upset about the seat as I don't think I will be able to use a suspension post.
@@skyjumperphotography6807 Difficult to say unless you try it. It is a good improvement though.
@@MidlandBulletRiders Yeah I might try it, could you give me the measurement between the top of the frame seat post tube to the seat bars that the suspension post clamps to. That would give me an idea as to how high the seat would be comared to where it is now. Thanks in advance.
Phil
If it clamps up she's gold
Right, so the biggest seat post clamp I can find is 36.4mm. It's still too small for the seat tube which is 36mm ID even if you force it as far open as it will go. Mine broke. Engwe doesn't respond to requests for parts. We're making due but it won't last forever and I have no idea how to fix it permanently. Without pulling out the grinder and welder.
Not sure of the exact size needed, but there are some on ebay that go up to 38.5mm.
thanks
That is very interesting, I'm only concerned about that the internal tube contacting area is very reduced by the adapters, in a long therm it may be bad for the bike frame - I hope I'm wrong :)
You got a. new friend in Warsaw with a sister ebike ;)
I see what you're saying, but the down tube is pretty heavy duty. Bigger than it needs to be, I'm not noticing any pressure on it.
@@MidlandBulletRiders Cool, these bikes are very solid indeed!
Where did you order the larger plastic insert from. I have the same problem.
Thanks
Mike
The plastic insert came with the original seat post. Not sure where you would get one of those from.
Thank you for the review I would like to ask if how to deal with the bottom adjuster. If i screw them clockwise which the metal at the bottom will go inwards will it get more bouncy? or should i screw anti clockwise which the metal bottom will go outwards to get more bouncy spring tension? since I usually bike on trails
Screwing it in will make it less bouncy/firmer. Screwing it out will make it more bouncy/softer. But depending on your weight, you don't want it to be too soft and bottom out. So best to just test and see what feels best for you.
@@MidlandBulletRiders noted on this my friend, thank you for clearing it out. i will test it once my zoom seat post arrives.
How to plug in 33.9 , this seatpost is 27.9 x 300???
Great Video as always mate. Quick question I can only find 36 adapter insert online. You think that with be good with 33.9 zoom seatpost suspension?
The seat post is 31.6 and the bike tube is 36. That's why I had to use the plastic insert to make it up to 36. I think if you just get a 36 adaptor, you will still need another to fit between that and the seat post. If you still have the plastic insert then you only need 31.6- 33.9 one. Can be found on ebay. Search "bike seat post adaptor" You say your seat post is 33.9 ? I didn't realise they made that size. If it is, then you only need to add the plastic insert, or as you say, a 36 adaptor.
@@MidlandBulletRiders thanks for your reply mate so I ordered 31.6mm seat post and got 31.6mm to 36 adapter. So this should be fine for engine pro 750w bike?
what's the max height in cm measuring from the floor?
I've just ordered one for my e-bike. ❤ Did you adjust the dampening tension yourself or just keep it how it arrived? I'll leave my one alone and see how I get on with it after a few miles. 👍
I did screw it in a couple of turns, but I am quite heavy. Just test it how it comes and if it bottoms out, just compress it more. Easy enough job.
Was that clicking sound the sound of the suspension? Is it silent? Thanks for sharing.
No noise from the seat post It's the battery rattling. I don't really notice it, but the camera tends to pick it up more.
Do you have the size of the original shim as I’ve some how lost mine and need to buy another one
Could you do me a favour I have same bike as you I'm after a seat post clamp but not sure on size with your vernier can you measure outside diameter of frame post where seat post goes please
So how about if I order 33.9. It will fit EP2 bike I see in Amazon they have. Please ?
Yes that is the size I used, but you will still need to use the plastic adaptor to fill the 36mm of the bike tube.
Thank you very much also can I have one question if you don't mind about the battery when I take the key out the battery still on I mean when the key out you can switch the screen on and off without key it is is normal on this bike
Can someone please tell me what adapter I'll need to plug the charger in? I'm from the UK
Comes with a 2 pin plug, You'll need a travel adaptor if your mains is different.
@@MidlandBulletRiders thankyou
Love the traditional tattoos
Old school !
@@MidlandBulletRiders They get better with age, just like you m8.
How is the seatpost after use it for sometime? Is there any play or bad behavior?
Still working fine. nothing to report.
@@MidlandBulletRiders thanks for answering.
I got same bike in Orange , Im getting C9 seat with that suspension ..
Great bike aren't they !
@@MidlandBulletRiders still i need adjust to 28 mph speed on PAS..
Hi can I change Engwe ep-2 motor from 500 to 750?
Don't think it's that easy. You can now buy an ep-2p which has a 750 motor.
Hi id like to find out if its possible to fit a bigger motor to my ep-2 500w
Could you put links to where you got adapter and seat post thank you
There's links in the description.
@@MidlandBulletRiders oh I must have missed it I’ll watch again thanks

My seat lifts so I can access the battery, will this still fit?
@@19800bon Without seeing your seat I couldn't say, it depends how the seat lifts. If it wont lift using the suspension seat post then I guess you could just take the seat post out to remove the battery, it may be a bit of hassle but you have to weigh that up against the increased comfort with the suspension post.
You sold it to me, I just ordered the same one for £18. Bargain.
....Is it still working okay after two years?
Yes, no issues at all.
@@MidlandBulletRiders Brill, thanks.
@@MidlandBulletRiders Hi, my seat post arrived today and it doesn't seem as smooth as yours, even on the lowest setting. Does the spring take some time to work in, or have I possibly bought a dud?...
@@jase6709 Have you tried adjusting the tension on the spring? You can take it all the way out and remove the spring, and check to see everything is sliding correctly.
@@MidlandBulletRiders I loosened it to the lowest setting, but maybe I loosened it a tad too much and started undoing it. I'm sure I'll sort it out somehow. If not I'll take it apart and grease it etc. Thanks.
Hahaha. Anyone passing must have thought, why is he pointing his selfie stick at his a**?
You've just sold the product for me! Most reviews just talk about it and don't show it. Thank you!
It's a great upgrade, and still working fine 12 months later.
@@MidlandBulletRiders Fantastic! I just bought a Windgoo e bike and the bumps on my toosh are real. Can't wait to do this. I always sub to fast responders. Subbed!
@@moovintruespace994 Thanks a lot. You'll certainly feel the difference.
@@MidlandBulletRiders You're Welcome
no seat angle adjustment
There's quite a bit of angle available by loosening the 2 hex screws, and tilting to suit.
@@MidlandBulletRiders i see no way to adjust seat angle the two nuts just tighten it to seat rails
@@wilsondavila917 The video at 4:40 will explain. The hex screws have to be really loose to move it.
Horrified by your cranking on the old post clamp with a screwdriver instead of just removing the nuts completely on the old one. The seat just falls off if you take the nut off one side and just slide out the threaded bolt.
Likewise, you putting the new one on BACKWARDS, thought it looks like you figured it out.
