  • In this video, We install a Micro Digital Boyer Ignition system. Which in turn should be a better ignition system than the original points ignition system. We go through all the steps of hooking it up and static time the system so we can pretty much be right where we need to be when we start it up soon.

Thanks guys - this has been a great help. I just bought a 1976 tr6 wired without battery but with Boyer ignition. Trying to work out what is what!

Good job! I have to ask, where did you get the rubber battery box ?

So you haven't set the timing to 38 degrees before TDC yet. Is that correct?

Yes we did set it statically to 38 degrees before top dead, to clarify boyer and many other electronic ignitions fire both plugs at the same time so in the video we raise the connecting rods to the top of the stroke then we backed the crank up so the pointer lined up with the line on the rotor which is 38 degrees before top dead center then we lined the ignition rotor white dot up to the correct clockwise hole in the ignition stator plate and made sure it was centered in the hole and in the center of the pillar bolt slots at the same time and in our experience with these ignitions the static setting will be within plus or minus 2 degrees if not perfect once we start the bike and check the timing with a strobe timing light later.

@@jessesvintagegarage765 Thank you again. I was using the Pa zon and in the manual it talk about setting the timing to 19 degrees. But then I realized that was only when using the disc on the camshaft.RMM

@@jessesvintagegarage765 Thanks for sharing. So does the mark on the rotor indicate TDC or 38d BTDC? Or did you manually do this with a timing wheel but not film that part?

The pointer lined up with the line on the rotor which the line on the rotor is 38 degrees before top dead center marking. Then we lined the boyer ignition rotor piece with the white dot up to the correct clockwise hole in the ignition stator plate and made sure it was centered in the hole and tightened it down. We did the rotor alignment manually and may not have filmed that part.

@@jessesvintagegarage765 it’s just that there is no line in your video showing 38d BTDC. So just to confirm the marks present are for TDC and BDC and still need to be moved 38d before fitting the ignition rotor?
