I've bought seven Deagles in .50AE in the past 6 months. After my first, realizing I had to brace my elbow a little more, I also have not had a failure of any sort. I've had others fire them also, and they get failure to go into battery as the most common, but I haven't had failures with them since learning I needed to brace my elbow a little more than I normally would.
Yeah, I... I have nine, now. All in .50AE. I added a Star Spangled Banger and, more recently, a black L5 in .50AE. I still have yet to fire this L5, but I'm hoping that it has the same, flawless reliability that I've had with my others. I love the Mark XIX. And this L5 is growing on me. And because the L5 is so light, I've actually been considering making it my main. I bought a BGs AIWB as soon as I heard that it existed, and their mag carrier is really nice also. I have my gun store owner dude looking for a good die set and powder for .50AE so I'll soon be reloading this ridiculously expensive round, which means, with BGs's AIWB and mag carrier, I'll be training with it soon to see if I really want to become that douche bag who carries a Desert Eagle in .50AE. And I do really want to be that guy. Because Desert Eagles are awesome. It'd be hilariously awesome and ridiculous to carry it.
My next desert eagle will be an L5. I own a L6. I carry it and absolutely love it. Im a lefty and keep in in half cock when carried. It eliminated the use of the safety and slide bite isnt a problem at least for me. I too have @ 300 rnds with no hiccups. Only magazine problems. No failure to feed but just reload is tricky. To mitigate the heft of the gun you need a good steel band reinforced leather belt. And a good leather pancake holster. The DE is a movie star and needs to be treated as such. And just like a movie star, you'll get looks when carrying one.
By the way the Home Defense solution has also been finalized, by Jason Hanson. Desert Eagle .50AE with a couple extra magazines. Why on earth? - As much firepower as a 20 Gauge slug, stopping power. - Hollowpoints may have reduced barrier penetration. - 7+1 round capacity and quick to reload. - Portable and can be Hidden, retrieved quickly. - Unlikely to be used for anything else.
its a bad home defense option... if you were to use it for that, you would need one with a rail and a light on it, but being that rounds limited is a huge problem. home invasions, burglaries are usually multiple assailants so theres absolutely no reason to use this over a silenced AR in 300bo. you arent limited on size for a home defense gun so nothing can compete with the versatility, size, firepower, and effectiveness of a silenced 300bo AR pistol/sbr. if all you had was a handgun for some reason, 8 rounds is way too little... you should be using a full size 9mm with 21+ rounds.
Thanks for this wonderful video! Please let me know about this. I heard in L5 models MR use a set screw in the firing pin stop plate to prevent it from falling off during shooting. Could you please let me know if it is true? Thanks a lot!
@@niceguy60 clean it oil it and break it in. And swap that 50 barrel for a 44 mag. 1 extra round and the bear wouldn't know the difference and the ammo cheaper 🤷
Owning one of these myself, I can't emphasize enough on how much you DON'T want to carry this, unless of course you don't care about your hearing. It is eardrum shattering, deafeningly loud.
I was thinking about getting this to shoot for fun but I think I might go with a 44 redhawk now as it seems more enjoyable to send a bunch of rounds out of
@@Coolguy6783 I've got a a 7 1/2 inch 44 Redhawk, great gun. The DE 50AE is also alot of fun to shoot - brutal recoil and very loud, draws considerable interest at the range. Fantastic gun but an epically poor choice to carry.
@@Auldus It's uncomfortably heavy, unreliable (not unusual) for this gun + I mean eardrum puncturing, deafeningly loud. This has to be one of the worst selections for carry options. The Israelis never carried it and they developed it (IMI) ... This is a FUN range gun and nothing more.

I have the L5 in black on black. Gotta use Magnum Research brand Hollowpoints. Anything else and it jams like a btch. I notice your bullet's look slotted at the nose just like MR's. That's probably why you get no malfunctions. That said: for home defense, I'd use my Desert Eagle 1911g .45ACP instead.
I had to slap the top of my 44 xix during break in to send the slide into battery For just the first 50 rounds or so. That recoil spring is seriously stiff brand new. after that it was perfect. My only complaints like you regard the "ambidextrous" safety. I would use both hands lol. My biggest complaint about the safety is after a couple hundred rounds the safety screw will work its self loose, and will fall into safety after shooting so make a habit of snugging the safety screw up from time to time I'd be pissed if i lost that screw. I've never experienced the slide bite. Wow

What state do you carry this in? Just bought a shoulder holster for mine just to find out there is a .45 caliber restriction on carry in my state
What state is that!
That would make a great Bear gun 👍👍👍
I have a MK19 Desert Eagle in 50AE and wouldn't trust it to save my life, too unreliable. I would use my SW 460 or SW 500 for bear defense

How is the weight on the L5? Is appendix carry even feasible with this weapon? Or is your only complaint the sound signature?

Battle Gnome Solutions makes an IWB that does a good job, as does Diamond D Custom Guides Choice. I own 1rst gen .44 and .50.
Polish down the slide serrations and polish the safety mechanism.
you could sand down the serrations and round out the bottom of the slide but i wouldnt be confident in my ability to make that look nice.

any piston breaking problems?

maybe if you have tiny hands you won't? or you just don't grip a pistol with a proper grip.

With a good gun belt it can be done. Why would you expect no design flaws on a $2000 pistol? I carry the Glock 40. It is a functioning monster.
