This method does work. The buttons on the remote must face the trunk or remote will not program. Follow the procedure just as directed and when you are programming the new remote make sure the buttons are facing the back and you will hear a beep push on the ignition like he says and you are finished. Tried it several times and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work until I turned the remote around to be learned. Hope this helps!

Took less than 30 seconds from start to finish. Walked up to car as normal, opened locked door with FOB in my pocket. Put the FOB in the center counsel, turned the key in the door lock about 7 times until hearing a beep, put new FOB in center counsel, pushed the "key" in, and complete. Checked all functions of the new FOB and it works great, Thanks Trigga!!

This is confirmed and only took a minute or so at most. Worked on my 09 CTS DI AWD exactly as described. Just like the video said. I walked away, it locked...I put original key in house and tested the new key. It worked just like original, and locked/unlocked...etc. Here is what I did exactly. 1. Walked to car, just opened normally with handle. (didn't click unlock or anything special) 2. Inserted ORIGINAL key fob in slot in video 3. Inserted original key in driver door 4. Turned to unlock/lock 4-6 times just like video til a beep 5. Removed ORIGINAL Key fob from slot 6. Inserted NEW key fob into slot where old was. 7. Pushed the ignition key to program. (I noticed it said programming key #3 on display - i guess cuz we lost 2nd)
@@beeros6496 good job... it said key number 3, because that's the third key fob that is programmed to the car.. it will only take 4... anything more than 4 you must delete the previous keys
@@Rebelsmic Funny you say that. If anyone is reading this, you may want to delete extra keys you don't have. Using key fob 3 or 4 may cause your battery to die meeting certain conditions. This happens if the fix/reprogram is not applied on your car. I've listed it partially below...you cn just look it up by number if you want to read the full thing. My battery kept dying overnight, then I found this. TECHNICAL Bulletin No.: 09-08-50-002A Date: September 09, 2009 Note This condition will only happen if all three of the conditions listed below are true. - The vehicle has the EZ-key option (RPO UHA, UHF). - The memory seat/easy exit recall is set to "On" or "Automatic On". - A fob driver ID of greater than number 2 is used.

It still works but the trunk key no longer stays in the fob, falls out. Bought a new case from amazon but would really like to have a second functional fob. This is good info!`

This may only work for American model CTS's. I have a Canadian CTS and the owner's manual states you must have both original fobs to enter the 'Relearn Remote Key' mode. I bought 2 aftermarket fobs with the correct numbers but I can't get my vehicle to respond to the door key and trigger the beep to enter the relearn mode ('Relearn Remote Key') regardless how many times I turn the key. The place I bought the remotes from advises to use the "i" info center to toggle to the 'Relearn Remote Key' screen, or use the trip odometer press and hold until 'Relearn Remote Key' is displayed. None of the ways described worked for me at all. The car never enters the 'Relearn Remote Key' mode. This system of needing both original keys makes total sense since giving a valet parking attendant your key to park your car also gives them the ability to easily copy your key.
2011 cadillac cts v coupe. This did NOT work for me.. when I push the ignition permanent key everything goes off... I have to put my key in trunk due to no door locks, and it did beep at me/ready to add key. But nothing happened after putting new key in program slot in arm rest. Any help is appreciated 🙏.
Can program up to 4 keys.... you will have erase them from the computer and use a different procedure to program... read tho comments and u will find answer

2009 CTS : I have a major problem, orignal key fob was lost, been driving on the spare key fob. Car was left at dealership for 4 months to do a water pump replacement. (This is in South Africa it took time to order parts and for it to arrive). Drove my car twice since it was repaired just -parked it in garage at home, and key fob fell apart in my hand. I am totally at my wits end. I or purchased a Key Fob and followed all instruction from the place that I bought it. It does not work. The reason I am told is because to make a keyfob or extra one you have to have an original with you, so the computer system recogonises it or else it will think that someone has gained access through the door with a key and are now trying to steal your car, so it shuts everything, I mean everything down except for all alarms. Cadillac pulled out of South Africa leaving all of us Cadillac owners stranded. I tried calling the manufacturing plant, and was told I need to bring the car to USA. Can you imagine what the cost would be to ship it??? I am soooooooo disappointed I just want to sit and cry.
Look into opening a tech account with cadillac and then buy the key programming tool via your vin number... don't ask me how... just and idea, because you have a real issue. Do some research
I forgot my original key for my car which is CTS Coupe 2011, I bought to collect the code from GM factory and this cost me 130$ then I found someone helping me after I give him the code and he said it will cost a new original GM key with programming 300$. I lost too much because I don’t have any information. Also, no one can program Cadillac keys here in my area so I need to order from dealer authorized or outside from USA but I need help from you before I will buy a new key, how can I find the number fits my original key after I replace the old one. Subscribers with the coupe having issue programming their keys . First off there is no key hole on the door... read through some of the comment and you might find some answer... .. ps only the dealer can provide your car key number. This info only match your vin
If you don’t have original Turn off your vehicle and insert your remote in the remote transmitter pocket located in the center console with the buttons facing the front. Step 2 Put your key in the door lock and rotate the key to the "Unlock" position five times in five seconds. Look at your DIC and it will display "OFF/ACC TO LEARN". Step 3 Press the "ACC" button on your ignition switch. Your DIC will prompt you to wait ten minutes, after which the DIC will read "OFF/ACC TO LEARN". Press the "ACC" button on your ignition switch again. Repeat this process three times. Listen for a beep; when you hear the beep the DIC will read, "FOB Ready for #2". Remove your remote from the transmitter pocket and press the "Unlock" button twice to complete programming and insert a new remote. Begin again from Step 8 in the previous section with the new remote.
Despite the instructions being the same as what I have found in the Owners Manual and elsewhere, this process does not seem to work for a 2011 Cadillac CTS. It doesn't matter how many times you turn to unlock, the process will not start.
This is the only guy who have correct instructions on programming the fob key. Worked easily!!!

Maybe your car have 4 keys or Fob programmed already....it will only allow you to program up to 4 .. maybe it was done prior to your attemp

2011 cadillac cts v coupe. This did NOT work for me.. when I push the ignition permanent key everything goes off... I have to put my key in trunk due to no door locks, and it did beep at me/ready to add key. But nothing happened after putting new key in program slot in arm rest. Any help is appreciated 🙏.
Can program up to 4 keys.... you will have erase them from the computer and use a different procedure to program... read tho comments and u will find answer

1#. Car off
2#.insert the New key into learning slot.(button forward)
3#.insert a working key in the driver's door lock cylinder & cycle the key to the unlock position 5times within 5 seconds
4#. The dash will display a message (press the start control to learn keys)
5#. Press the ignition switch
6#. The dash will display a message..learn delay active. Wait 10 minutes, then it will count down to zero.
*****Do not place any known good proximity remote in the vicinity of the vehicle when programming..
7#.The dash will display a message- Press start control to learn key
8#.Press the ignition switch
9#. Repeat step 6-8 two more times={3 ten minutes cycle..==30 mins }
10#. At the end of the 30 minutes cycle you should hear a beep and dash display a message Ready Electronic key #1..( all other remote are now erased..
11#. When prox remote #1 is programmed a beep will be heard & the dash will display a message. Ready for electronic key number 2..
12#. Additional key fob can be program by taking fob 1 out of the pocket and inserting fob 2.. up to 4 fobs can be program. Once 4 fobs have been learned the dash will display MAX electronic key learned and automatically exit the program mode..
13#. If learning less than 4 keys press the ignition stwitch to exit the mode
14#. Press the unlock button in each remote that was programmed to finalize the programming and confirm they work

1.Insert original key fob into center console.
2.Turn the key in the door lock ( lock unlock) til you hear a beep
3.remove original key fob from the center console and insert the new key fob
4.push in the twist nob that you use to start the car...

that is the fob that starts the car
You must use a working fob in this situation.... by doing this we are only cloning the original fob

I lost the key part but I have the fob still. Is there a way I can do it without using the key in the door?
Not sure.. try using the lock and unlock on the door itself... with the door open position ... let me know if this work

2009 CTS : I have a major problem, orignal key fob was lost, been driving on the spare key fob. Car was left at dealership for 4 months to do a water pump replacement. (This is in South Africa it took time to order parts and for it to arrive). Drove my car twice since it was repaired just -parked it in garage at home, and key fob fell apart in my hand. I am totally at my wits end. I or purchased a Key Fob and followed all instruction from the place that I bought it. It does not work. The reason I am told is because to make a keyfob or extra one you have to have an original with you, so the computer system recogonises it or else it will think that someone has gained access through the door with a key and are now trying to steal your car, so it shuts everything, I mean everything down except for all alarms. Cadillac pulled out of South Africa leaving all of us Cadillac owners stranded. I tried calling the manufacturing plant, and was told I need to bring the car to USA. Can you imagine what the cost would be to ship it??? I am soooooooo disappointed I just want to sit and cry.
Look into opening a tech account with cadillac and then buy the key programming tool via your vin number... don't ask me how... just and idea, because you have a real issue. Do some research
I forgot my original key for my car which is CTS Coupe 2011, I bought to collect the code from GM factory and this cost me 130$ then I found someone helping me after I give him the code and he said it will cost a new original GM key with programming 300$. I lost too much because I don’t have any information. Also, no one can program Cadillac keys here in my area so I need to order from dealer authorized or outside from USA but I need help from you before I will buy a new key, how can I find the number fits my original key after I replace the old one. I’m sorry to write all what was going on with me for my car I know it’s not related to the subject as you write, but maybe help someone else to be careful and focusing to this situation. ( please help me to buy a new key and is fitting to my CTS Coupe?)
Subscribers with the coupe having issue programming their keys . First off there is no key hole on the door... read through some of the comment and you might find some answer... .. ps only the dealer can provide your car key number. This info only match your vin

If u have a couple, its on the trunk
If you don’t have original
Turn off your vehicle and insert your remote in the remote transmitter pocket located in the center console with the buttons facing the front.
Step 2
Put your key in the door lock and rotate the key to the "Unlock" position five times in five seconds. Look at your DIC and it will display "OFF/ACC TO LEARN".
Step 3
Press the "ACC" button on your ignition switch. Your DIC will prompt you to wait ten minutes, after which the DIC will read "OFF/ACC TO LEARN". Press the "ACC" button on your ignition switch again. Repeat this process three times.
Listen for a beep; when you hear the beep the DIC will read, "FOB Ready for #2". Remove your remote from the transmitter pocket and press the "Unlock" button twice to complete programming and insert a new remote. Begin again from Step 8 in the previous section with the new remote.

Despite the instructions being the same as what I have found in the Owners Manual and elsewhere, this process does not seem to work for a 2011 Cadillac CTS. It doesn't matter how many times you turn to unlock, the process will not start.
Even with door open while turning?

Try using the LOCK & UNLOCK on the door switch.... not sure if it will work.. ....let us know if it does
