If only Fold4 has the same camera quality as S22U, I'd definitely go for the Fold4.

@@eduardklicht1402 i already have a mirrorless and dslr, but the camera is still one of the top reasons I'm getting a phone. 😊 I think it boils down to preference.
@@waffa008 to me it at least has to be decent, nice pics I use my canon since a phone would never be able to get on that Level a dslr has with nice lenses
And btw have a fold 3 and s22U and the cam on s22U is well it's good enough for quick shots same as fold3/4 not that big difference unless you'd want to make at night
@@eduardklicht1402 i actually thought of getting the fold 4 instead s22u a few days after my original comment because of the screen size lol, i also like to journal aside from taking photos and I use the spreadsheet lots for business. @@waffa008 the screen is also why I use my fold all the time and multi tasking on it is also an must have for me, the screen could be better, but can't expect more of it since it's a foldable and normal glass can't be used but other than that I wouldn't change it for any other right now
I was curious so I picked up the fold and.....well.....I don't miss my 22 Ultra. The way it multi tasks is breath-taking. In terms of battery life, I actually prefer the fold, though it charges slower than the 22U. The camera was even more shocking. While it doesn't have space zoom, I preferred the cleaner, almost overly sharper image quality of the fold which has a surprisingly stellar camera. It's a power house. I don't have to mention the huge screen which surprisingly all of my apps are optimized for. The larger display is incredible! If I'm on the go at work, that is fine too. The cover screen with the side fingerprint sensor will do the job. It's heavy, but really a much more creative experience than the Ultra. I'm just over boring slab phones. I agree it's worth every penny. Don't forget the s pen case.

@@mikldude9376 if your referencing the flip 4 I've seen a few tests done on the phone and durability isn't something you should be too worried about, they did it well this year
@@theyolobro6343 Well mate , tests on a fairly recently released phone do not account for much , and neither do bending tests in perfectly controlled conditions in a lab , and if you look at reviews of quiet a few fold owners that have had them for a period of time even on the fold 3 which is still not very old , there are a lot of complaints about display issues , no iffs buts or maybes the folding area of the display is a fail point on these hugely expensive devices ,
Slab phones have the runs on the board , both my 5.5 year old galaxy S8+ and 4 year old galaxy note still work and have pristine displays and have never needed a repair at any time and i still use my old note , as i have said before , i suspect most of these folds will be long in the rubbish bin long before the majority of good slab phones.

@@mikldude9376 well yea the folds arnt gonna be as durable because moving parts wear down quicker because of friction and such, but, for what they are and what they came from, they've come a long way. They're not the phones they used to be they're a hell of alot better now. Obviously it's not gonna have the durability of a normal phone, look at it. But the multitasking capabilities along with a beautiful screen great ass cameras a half decent to good battery life and a few other touch ups like software optimization and upgraded hardware make it a great phone, aside from it not having an s pen in my opinion. Becides, the nice thing about phones is, if you don't like it, don't buy it. If you do like it, you have the option to.
I bought the Fold 4. I'm very happy with it. When I am talking to clients or friends, that big screen is great for displaying pics. Second best thing is the multitasking. Sometimes I'm watching a video, receive a text message or email, but don't want to close the video. I can view both at the same time. I would advise that you go ahead and spring for the $90 Samsung case. I tried third-party once and they are too bulky. I added a Syncwire ring to the back so it is easier and safer to hold.
Fair point. It's not just about the camera quality per se. But if you're viewing many of your shots on the phone also, it goes to show. Pun irrelevant
Fold 4 is the way to go. I came from iphone 13 pro max and was deep in apple ecosystem. This is the future of smart phones. It's absolutely incredible. I would only not recommend it if you have smaller hands, then the fold could be a hassle
It seems if closed it would be perfect those with small hands...as long as they don't unfold the device.
I am so jealous of your white S22 Ultra, I bought the Burgundy one and have regretted it since day 1. I agree with you completely, I have both Fold 4 and S22 Ultra and love them both. I use the Fold 4 now all of the time but use the S22 Ultra for the camera, hopefully the Fold 4 will get some updates for the camera because my 50mp doesn't give a very clean image at all and it is the only gripe I have about the phone. Great video as always.
The Z Fold 4's battery life is outstanding. I use the inner display when I'm at home with heavy use (Playing Diablo Immortal, Emulators, Genshin Impact etc.) and I always get 6-7 hours of screen on time.
I'm very pleasantly surprised at how good its battery endurance turned out.
S22 Ultra is my first Samsung phone and it has impressed me so far, I do want to experience Z Fold but maybe in 2-3 years when my current Ultra is ready for a trade-in.
Trade in or upgrade? We don't really trade phones in in South Africa. It's almost never worth the small discount on your monthly bill. We just keep the old phone and upgrade the contract which gets you a better device and more benefits all for the same price most of the time.
According to many reviews out there, the higher S22U battery capacity is easily surpassed by the superior power management of Fold4. I'll be waiting for your battery review test to confirm it! Otherwise, that was a great and fair comparison between both phones! Congratulations.
It really is. Coming from the 22u I was surprised how much better battery was, not by alot but it's definitely noticable & better on the fold 4. Another thing is how much more efficient the ram is used. On my 22 I would have about 3 to 4 gb of ram available after a clean, on the fold 4 I get 6 to 7 gb free so that's cool. I am a bit disappointed with cameras though, that was a major downgrade.

I found the z fold 4 has better battery life than the S22U and it also runs way cooler.
The S22 is an absolute killer unit. Having said that, I can't see myself going back to a slab phone. I like using this thing that much.

I’m an iPhone guy, but the Ultra would be more my speed. I’m still not sure I trust the durability of the folding screens.
The displays are just fine, however I can't believe they'll last longer than a standard screen
The good thing about the Folds is certain months you will get a trade in value of $1000 sometimes even higher for a cracked display Fold

@@TechGearTalk i'm quite an Outdoorsy person, but also, and Android dev. I really hesitated between s22 ultra and fold 4. But in the end, durability for rain/dust/dirt from camping trips is a must!! I couldn't take the fold gamble on that end.
You have to try it. Reviews and videos don't give it justice. Great phone Fold 4 all the way. Try it. You can always return it withing 30 days

Agree with everthing you have said except the battery life. From all the different reviews and battery life tests i have seen, all of them claimed that fold 4 outlasted the s22 Ultra. Anyway, great review.

Was looking for a video like this! My fold 3 has a FAT black line down the middle of the screen, apparently some dust got under it. Warranty is expired, replacements unavailable, so I’m trying to decide if I should go with the fold 4 or just go with the Ultra. Currently feels like you can only get a yr of durability on the fold in my opinion. Think I’m going to make the switch to the Ultra after this vid 👍🏿

Lol, that's one of the few reasons I upgraded from Z Fold3 😂 I had 2 replacements, so I went through 3 phones. I'm hoping the 4 is more sturdy.

S22 Ultra for me. Better display quality, no hassle of folding and unfolding, built in S pen, better aspect ratio, better water and dust resistance, tougher display and build quality, and most of all...NO CREASE
Yeah it appears you haven't even used the Z Fold4. Every person who whines about the crease hasn't used the Z Fold4 at all.
@@ljamesretuya ... I tried the Fold 3 last year and the crease on the Fold 4 is the same. I know because I have the Fold 4 right now as well, and I am thinking of returning it. Don't judge people whom you do not know. Now if you want to argue, instead of questioning me of my financial capability, tell me instead which of the things I said in my first comment that is not true? And I also want to add that some apps do not support the Fold's aspect ratio, like instagram which I use a lot.
@@Gemini530 I agree wholeheartedly. Saying those that prefer traditional phones over foldable whining because of certain aspect is really annoying. If samsung think the same way then there would be no more slabs, might as well sell foldables all the way. They don't because people still like traditional phones. Just because they prefer foldables over slabs and cannot go back anymore gave them a ticket to criticize other's preferences. I returned a fold 4 because it's too thick, crease and hinge loosening with just few months of use.
I have the S22 Ultra right now and I love it, especially for the camera and filming Tiktoks. But gonna go for the Fold for my next one

I have the s22 ultra and I want the fold 4 but I will never understand why the newer phone doesn't come with the same or better camera as the previous phone. That's the only reason I won't switch to the fold and that sucks cuz I want it
That was my biggest gripe but I got it anyway since I don't take that much pics or video. I mostly use it for UA-cam and for that is definitely better than the 22u. Battery last longer too.

Wait until the novelty period wears off sir , you may change your mind, if you keep it for three years time and it even lasts that long ( which I doubt) , I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts.
2012 apart from the software actually wasn’t such a bad feel , and it was 10 times more durable than any fold , my note 2 had an S pen in a silo which your fold still cannot do in 2022 , your precious fold comes with many compromises mate , and costs a hell of a lot more .

Edit: I might add , even my old 2012 note 2 came with an SD card and a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a swap out battery and optional wireless charging a charger and buds in the box, for 2012 it actually in a lot of ways stacked up pretty good to this fold pretend flagship.

If you're in the UK the S22 Ultra comes with an Exynos 2200 processor whereas the Fold 4 comes with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 which is far superior in terms of battery performance. It was one of the reasons I bought the fold 4 and after a few days use I'm not disappointed.
Exynos - Never again. That processor is not only slower than the competition but also chews through battery like an otter in a fish aquarium

I'm one of the few who orders them both. Been using note series since note 8 and S22u undoubtedly powerful, thou there are major drawbacks i felt as my daily work driver: relatively larger footprint is impractical, yet it's spacious screen too narrow for spreadsheet/docs viewings. Of course i also use laptop, but there ocassions where taking out laptop is too much hassle.
With lacking in air action and diminutive main camera, let's see how Zf4 fares against S22u.
(Samsung too greedy on how they make money, no way i would add extra cost on S Pen pro!)

They need to come down on the price of the galaxy fold 4. 1,800 before taxes is just plain crazy. Especially for an android device, that after a few months you'll be bored and tired of.
The one thing Samsung has, is outstanding trade-in value. I agree that the $1,800 is very high.

Tempted to get the fold 4. Sam offered me 1200 for the 22 ultra, for fold 4 512gb. I found the the ultra gets hot in my pocket when carrying it.
You forgot about speakers BETTER in Fold4, two-side experience in many apps such as GMail and in Europe we have S22u witch Exynos which is a disaster

I want the fold 4 but I have a tendency of breaking my phones... I fear having something as expensive as a laptop which is also delicate. Blue collar worker and I drop my note 20 ultra in the snow, mud and dirt constantly. Maybe once they get that hinge sealed up and the inner screen more durable I think I'll be going for the s22 ultra
the only reason I switched back to s22 is because of the weight. My pinky finger felt the difference after only 48 hours, it hurt.

I've been using a Fold 4 coming from a Note.
To sum it up, if you use the S pen frequently, get the Ultra since it's more of an afterthought on the Fold being, really, just a generic stylus experience rather than a "Note S pen."
If, OTOH, you favor content consumption over S pen use, get the Fold. It's essentially like carrying a tablet that folds and can be used as a phone. Of course, it's not going to be a full featured tablet (or phone) experience, but it's good just enough to be able carry both in one device such that that content consumption on the bigger screen offers a different experience over the candy bar form factor. I absolutely love it and can't see myself going back... if it were mine since I bought it for the wife and I'm still on the Note. 😭
Once they get the size thinner and lighter, I suspect an S pen slot will be integrated into the Fold and the Ultra line will be discontinued. I really do hope they figure out case solutions that don't involve adhesives though as that's my primary gripe about the Fold (nitpicking, sure, but I like to keep my tech stuff armored out being that I'm clumsy AF).
Im coming from a note and the lack of s pen on the fold is my only hesitation around getting it. I dont use the s pen often but it would feel like a downgrade to not have one. The thing is, the fold 4 is just so sexy. Im very torn. Thanks for your comment.
@@honeyholly001 After getting a case with a pen holder in the hinge, the experience hasn't been that bad. It sucks that you can't take quick notes on the front screen but I use it mainly for scribbling with my kids anyway.
I don't miss the Note's pen experience but my wife is happier sticking with her Note/Ultra.
@@davetechme what did you not like about the notes pen? Im on note 8 and have loved the pen. I use it mainly for signing things and when we did reno's I drew over photos to help visualize things/ colour schemes. Id have to try the cover to see how it feels with the s pen I think.
@@honeyholly001 It feels fine during use. I just didn't like the case options and lack of front screen support and bluetooth connectivity for snapping photos. The larger size of the pen feels better in hand but I'd rather have an integrated pen slot like the Notes.
I just got this phone in the mail yesterday and holy cow it is nice. Like it is really freaking nice. So nice I'm not sure I can keep it. I'm afraid I'll get mugged for it if I use it in public.

@@dkherr8391 I'm using it outside. My comment was just my first impression. With the case on it it looks less nice which I actually think is a good thing. But if anybody can spot it as a folding phone I can still become a target. Let's hope I don't get mugged.

I just picked up the Fold 4 512GB version for 469.00 from Samsung w/ trade (Note 20 Ultra). I also have the S22 Ultra and I'll see how it works.
ZF4 for me. Had mine about 18m now. Big step up from the 3. 8g1+ is much better on battery. The cameras are more than enough for most folks, also a big step up from the 3. The 4 was such a big step (of little things that add up) that the Fold5 was left kinda meh IMO. Looking forward to the ZF6. Also, that fingerprint reader is amazing. We don't say bad things about it lol. Leave the physical fingerprint sensor alone.
Loving the Fold4 right now open and closed is just amazing I didn't like the curved edges on the 22U, but it did make it more comfortable to hold. Battery was the biggest deal breaker as the Ultra barely made it to dinner time on a typical work day with on and off use.
Feel the same way, personally my 22U battery was okay it lasted about the whole day but fell off towards the night most of the time. I was surprised how much I like the cover screen even with the big hands I have.
Samsung phones are starting to get as bad as iphones in terms of battery life. Unles you buy a phone specifically for the battery like a M62 or a A73, the battery life will be terrible. Less than 6h of screen time on all phones above intermediate level is ridiculous, even motorola has better numbers.

My 20 note Ultra is working just 🙂 fine got the new fold 4 with 1000 dollar trade got

I keep cases and screen protector on all my phones make highest resale value
In Europe I only order the Fold series as we get the snapdragon processors that way so makes it an easier choice!

@@richarddcrossley I have Fold 4 and s22u and just want to let you know that the next gen snapdragon is way way more noticeably improved than I was expecting. I build a lot of custom interfaces and I'm shocked at how much faster the loading time is.
You said the Ultra has the best video @8k 24fps, but my Fold 4 does the same 8K 24fps. Maybe you should look again and check or maybe it is because I live in Asia.
Great review but when talking about the pens you didn’t touch on how the samsung pen also has features like remote for camera selfies i think these features are worth mentioning due to the fact it comes free with the phone and the most expensive samsung phone doesn’t. For me i have always been an iPhone user but with so many documents going over to emails the pen is pulling me to samsung next time. The iPhones are getting so boring Samsung keeps trying to break barriers.

I commend samsung for pioneering foldable phones. But I still think its not a longer lasting design. I would still prefer a bigger regular phone. If i needed a bigger display, i would rather purchase an ipad mini or tablet.

Samsung needs to step up on the battery life department. It's getting worse and worse with each generation, and we don't even get chargers anymore. Its getting as bad as the iphone.

Hot take but the fold 4 is so good I use the front screen the MOST It's narrow and smaller but I like it. Gaming and videos are amazing when it's unfolded
So I work in a factory with a lot of down time. So I watch videos and play games all the time. But like I said, a factory, it ain't exactly the safest place for a phone. So I was wondering, I got an s8+ and this poor things had a beating. With that in mind which would be a better everyday phone for this environment? With the right case, can a fold 4 match the durability of my s8??

I just got an S22 ultra and boy I was disappointed that there was no sd slot. Really no excuse except a money grab bc it was incorporated in the Sim slot of the Note 20 ultra. Oh and they no longer include a charge adapter? Like really?

Every year people review phones for their camera not the actual phone...you're buying a phone not a DLSR camera. Its like if the phone is great and feature rich, it will get shit on cause of not so great camera performance

U just cant go back to a normal phone....
If you have ocd or big hands you will not like the fold. It's difficult to type messages on the outer screen and that crease is there .
I agree 100%. I tried it out at Best Buy and I couldn’t type out anything on the outer screen. I typed like I normally would on my current phone and it was unreadable. No thanks…

As a fold 3 owner I’ll most likely upgrade to the S23U or similar form factor.
Foldables are too bulky for normal use & the cases make matters worse.

Used an S22 Ultra. Used a Fold3. I'm in love with my Flip4. Not the best Samsung phone but such a fun one.

In a world where most people dont do any more other than use their phone for watching tik tok and instagram, the fold does not need to exist. Dont try to convince yourself otherwise.
I've used both. And the camera and spen are the only 2 things it has over the fold 4. Plus the 8gen+ chip made by tsmc and not Samsung makes the fold 4 the one to get, the battery is better as well... Until Jan when then s23u comes out

So, I have a note 9. I'm about to update my phone and my provider is offering a 1000$ trade in if I get the Fold 4 or flip 4. If I were to go with the Ultra 22, my phone trade in value would be only about 400-500.
Which way should I go? The Fold is nice but it seems like the Ultra is the better phone. However, if I go get the fold, I can get it for about 799. Does that seem like a good deal?

I would say to get the fold, since the cameras are really similar to the s22. (if you don't use the inner display camera anyway)
It really depends on if you care about that s pen slot, and if the camera being that of a 800-1000 dollar phone bothers you.
And I would add that the S22 Ultra's processor weakens its battery life, some tests put the Fold4 ahead based on same usage. So if in the end you prefer the Ultra form factor, you should wait for the S23. If you want to change now to get the great trade in value, it's time to try a Fold! I'm trying myself from a Note 10+ :)

Buy the s23 ultra dont worry about the fold tilm they come with pen built in s23 will have better camera then s22
The fact he picked the finger scanner on the ultra makes this whole review invalid the side power button reader is better in every regard and its the most natural position.

The only thing the S22 Ultra has over the Z Fold4 is the camera system. In everything else, the Z Fold4 beats it by a mile. In overall user experience, it's just no contest. Can't see myself going back to a non-foldable now.
nope. It still have a built in stylus which has many functions. slabs still beats fold as the z is really thick. Screen also has more density. What S22 ultra doesnt have is the crease.
@Aki Kinabalu a stylus that the z fold 4 can also use and actually make better use of because of its larger display. There are plenty of cases that efficiently house the s pen too so that's a pretty good compromise. Lastly, the crease is only a problem to those who don't use foldables at all for no other reason than pettiness.
@@ljamesretuya The fact it doesn't have a built in silo and depend on certain casing to keep the stylus defeat it's purpose. I dont like the idea of limiting oneself to certain cover just to house the s pen. I tried the s pen on the fold 4 and I don't like the crease hindering the flow everytime I need to sketch something passing through the middle. I do hope they will improve the camera, comes with a built in s pen and I am sold for the Z series.
