Beautiful.. beautiful ...no words.. Karthikeyan..in nadaswaram was superb... It is typically a high decibel ..loud instrument.. but how he handles it softly during some phases..combining with the violin..a string melody instrument...is so pleasing to hear.. no need to mention the divinity a nadaswaram brings... Shreya is pleasingly good with the bow...and strings ..bringing out emotions ..good command and control .... Jeevanandam combining with violin..and Praveen with Karthikeyan... is another divine combo...
Mylai Karthikayan has impressive mastery over his nadhaswaram. Given that it is physically demanding to play that instrument one cant help give him a standing ovation. A great quartet.

I am 82 years from music background family in Mylapore Chennai lived in Delhi after marriage settled down in Bangalore practicing law. Presently I am on a visit to my daughter’s house in Chicago watching this program on UA-cam. The best and unique part of this concert is absolutely different from the usual பாரம்பரிய style of concert .That is the absence of a vocalist, and the accompanying artists usually on violin ,Mridangam ,kanjira ,ghatam or morsing. An amazingly awesome combination of artists . Jugalbandhi by Sherpa Devant on violin and Mylar Karthikeyan on Nadaswaram., Jeevanandam on Tamil and of course our favorite Praveen Sparsh on Mridangam highliting the concert with his smile. Padma Ramnath, Chennai. OMG, what an exposition of Shanmughapriya! Deiva raagam, Deiveega raagam...Muruga ,Shanmugha!. Alapanai, Keerthanam, Niraval , Swaram , Thani aavarthanam....oh! So divine. Shreya Devananath , a younger Shabana Azmi, so accomplished , effortless violin, developing this beautiful raagam with so much energy and enjoyment. In fact, each and every artist was enjoying their own creativity and music. And they gave us a feast. Carnatic music will survive and grow for ages with such young, dedicated artists who serve the tradition with so much devotion. Nadaswaram artist performed superbly.so were the mridangist and Thavil artists. Maruveru Dikkethu Rama, Shanmugapriyavil olitthu konde irukkum. God Bless you all.
marivere dikkevarayya rama'...in Shanmukhapriya, called as Chamaram in Muthuswami Dikshitar school of Carnatic music, a class kriti that is sung by high-profile vocalists in the cutcheri circuit. Of course Shanmugapriya ragam was borrowed into Hindustani music from Carnatic music. It is the 2nd ragam in the 10th chakra Disi.. thus the mnemonic name is Disi-Sri. The mnemonic phrase is sa ri gi mi pa dha ni. it is a sampoorna rāgam with all seven notes in both ascending and descending scales and is the prati madhyamam equivalent of Natabhairavi, which is the 20th melakarta scale. Excellent crisp Ragaalapaa...very good exposition of the ragam..Shanmugapriya! Both Violin n Nadasworam artists exhibited their playing skills at high octave incorporating wonderful gamakas on maneuvering variations to ornament their presentation right from Anupallavi and presented an excellent niraval and kalpanaswarom! The sworam, really superb indeed! Shreya Devnath on violin is outstanding! The Thaniaavarthanam is so lovely.Good recital!!!
Kudos to Sri Karthikeyan for keeping the sound of the nagaswaram alive and ringing in our ears, and for Kum./Smt. Shreya for flying the Lalgudi banner high. May the Almighty bless them and their pakkavadhyam artistes richly.
Everybody make comments sky high. However, how many of us are serious abt preserving our traditions. I doubt sincerity of people. Kudos this team for ur excellent performance.
The Sky high comments itself is an example of keeping traditions which encourages artists .I am wondering at the number of youngsters now taking classical music .You can watch in youtube how many new artists are emerging.
Listening to it at the early morning at 5. Nothing feels more auspicious than the sound of nadaswaram instrument. Great choice of ragam. Shreya Devnath plays as beautiful as looks. Thavil's got to be blasting. There's no other way for that instrument. But they have muted it totally. It's essentially an outdoor instrument. You can't play it silently. Give him his space, thavil will have done even better. Except this bit, its a great piece. Super quartet. 👍👌👏👏

The main artist's sounds were on point.. Thavil sound could've been better. But have to say.. this was amazing!! I'm honestly in love with this ragam now!!!!!

Nicely flowing raga alapana followed by Mariveredikke song in Shanmukhapriya played by the violinist and the nadhaswaram player combining so well together! Excellent twin accompaniment featuring thavil and mridangam! Enjoyable performance!

What a gifted Nadaswaram player. His Nadaswaram has a unique signature, it sounds utopian, and the Ragam adds to the utopian feeling as well.

OMG, what an exposition of Shanmughapriya! Deiva raagam, Deiveega raagam...Muruga ,Shanmugha!. Alapanai, Keerthanam, Niraval , Swaram , Thani aavarthanam....oh! So divine. Shreya Devananath , a younger Shabana Azmi, so accomplished , effortless violin, developing this beautiful raagam with so much energy and enjoyment. In fact, each and every artist was enjoying their own creativity and music. And they gave us a feast. Carnatic music will survive and grow for ages with such young, dedicated artists who serve the tradition with so much devotion. Nadaswaram artist performed superbly.so were the mridangist and Thavil artists. Maruveru Dikkethu Rama, Shanmugapriyavil olitthu konde irukkum. God Bless you all.
marivere dikkevarayya rama'...in Shanmukhapriya, called as Chamaram in Muthuswami Dikshitar school of Carnatic music, a class kriti that is sung by high-profile vocalists in the cutcheri circuit. Of course Shanmugapriya ragam was borrowed into Hindustani music from Carnatic music. It is the 2nd ragam in the 10th chakra Disi.. thus the mnemonic name is Disi-Sri. The mnemonic phrase is sa ri gi mi pa dha ni. it is a sampoorna rāgam with all seven notes in both ascending and descending scales and is the prati madhyamam equivalent of Natabhairavi, which is the 20th melakarta scale.
Excellent crisp Ragaalapaa...very good exposition of the ragam..Shanmugapriya! Both Violin n Nadasworam artists exhibited their playing skills at high octave incorporating wonderful gamakas on maneuvering variations to ornament their presentation right from Anupallavi and presented an excellent niraval and kalpanaswarom! The sworam, really superb indeed! Shreya Devnath on violin is outstanding! The Thaniaavarthanam is so lovely.Good recital!!!
Kudos to Sri Karthikeyan for keeping the sound of the nagaswaram alive and ringing in our ears, and for Kum./Smt. Shreya for flying the Lalgudi banner high.

Everybody make comments sky high. However, how many of us are serious abt preserving our traditions. I doubt sincerity of people. Kudos this team for ur excellent performance.
The Sky high comments itself is an example of keeping traditions which encourages artists .I am wondering at the number of youngsters now taking classical music .You can watch in youtube how many new artists are emerging.
Listening to it at the early morning at 5. Nothing feels more auspicious than the sound of nadaswaram instrument. Great choice of ragam. Shreya Devnath plays as beautiful as looks. Thavil's got to be blasting. There's no other way for that instrument. But they have muted it totally. It's essentially an outdoor instrument. You can't play it silently. Give him his space, thavil will have done even better. Except this bit, its a great piece. Super quartet. 👍👌👏👏
