    That Ne is very confusing to me. They mention pushing people apart, and then go onto slimmer phones? I guess they mean that the slimmer phones make them easier to carry around, and thus people will be on their phones more instead of interacting with each other?
    BTW, you typed me as ENFJ.

    • @CasualCognition
      @CasualCognition  3 роки тому +17

      In that example, the slimmer phones thing would be an Si detailed observation under the umbrella of "tech," which might lead Ne to divert to a new idea. Interesting that your Ni actually found a plausible reason for the connection though!

    • @Popcorn_Assassin
      @Popcorn_Assassin 3 роки тому +17

      Simply put: Ne is expansive and is exploring the Meta-physical world and continues to question it from a new angle until it gets interupted, stuck, bored or fatiqed. Ne is discovering the many potential future patterns of anything it finds interesting. Ne’s limit comes from Si vast experience. Meaning if Si have no past history or info on anything Ne tends to loose momentum in that line of topic and jumps to another one. Ne likes flow. What’s confusing about Ne is that it is talking about many anbstract topics that a Se & Ni wants to narrow down in a concrete manner where Ne exspanse it. Ni & Se almost always shuts down the flow of Ne users talking, it’s frustrating.
      Yes I’m a Ne user.
      Another thing is also that Ni & Se speechpatterns are direct, and Ne & Si is informative. Very different.

    • @amyloves_snsd
      @amyloves_snsd 3 роки тому +6

      In the example, technology pushing people apart and slimmer phones do not have much of a connection apart from both being under the topic of "technology". That's how loose Ne-Si connections are sometimes, they can easily jump from one topic to another without the topics being closely related. It's like "association", or "X reminds me of Y".

      Ni-Se users don't have problem "extrapolating" for the sake of extrapolation as long as it is the agenda.
      But since we're talking about technology pushing people apart, an Ni-Se user would be very quick citing concrete examples: toxic dating/hookup sites, violent children games, compulsive-buying inducing e-commerce sites, creepy surveillance/monitoring apps, bots counterfeiting public opinion, etc...

    I’m INFP and my spouse is INTJ, and having Ne/Si and Ni/Se is a blessing and a curse. Overall it leads to stimulating conversations as we both bring different approaches to ideas, but occasionally my tendency to bounce off the walls and tangent into seemingly unrelated ideas can be frustrating for her and then I feel stifled because I want the freedom to make all of those Ne connections. So it’s funny because the same functions that make for good conversation and exploring ideas can at other times be the thing that causes friction.

    I think as an Ni/Se I have to be careful not to *only * see the sensory details that fit my big picture. And to realize the details make the whole. If a detail *feels* off, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is.
    And it seems Si/Ne would need to be careful to realize Ne is surface and Si can give biased information and a sometimes things can *seem* correlates when they aren’t.

I related to Se here, listing stuff, all connected to that one prompt " what will world look like ", and just generating things from there. JFC do I know this difference, lol. Didn't realize this was a dynamic w/ people until I spent a lot of time talking about life w/ my INFJ wife. (INTP here) Now I see it in people constantly. It's fascinating how often people are just totally talking over each other and at each other about completely different topics and neither of them realize it.
    SO MANY annoyances we (Her and I) cause each other are exclusively due to Si-Ne VS Se-Ni. Topics that don't seem real to me are the only topics that seem real to her and vice versa. Topic changes throw her off, NOT changing topics throws ME off! So often we have to stop and just ask "Wait, what are we talking about?" to each other, lol. Usually when I try to connect a topic to an idea I'm having and to her it seems like I just jumped off a cliff in our convo topic that I thought was already over but apparently she was just starting it.
    Plus, it's amazing how "past culture blind" she often is. She can tell what fashions are NOW, for example, but then when I say something like "You know how everyone was wearing plaid in 2003?" Or "So you remember when yoyos made that come-back awhile back?" and she'll go ".... No?", etc. This happens constantly. Apparently she doesn't put those general global vibe stuff in a filing cabinet for retrieval in the future like I do, lol.
    I realized as an adult my ENTJ dad and my INFP mom have this dynamic too. They just don't realize it and keep bickering. MBTI has allowed my wife and I to tailor our approach for each other so it rarely gets to the point of conflict. And explains why my convos w/ my dad never seemed to really make much sense to me, growing up. He's just ALWAYS want to bring things back to concrete details that just simply don't interest me. (Even worse with Te VS Ti doms. He's so results oriented it straight up confuses me. He just cannot stop talking about the news and weather, lol. And I almost never care.)

      Before understanding the Functions I truly believed that people who were talking about Concrete details and/or talking about the same thing without linking it to other concepts were lost in some dissociative state of hellish boredom and would be relieved when I helped the conversation get “interesting” again with my Ne talk.

      You're most likely Ni dominant. INFJs have really hard time distinguishing between those functions because, they "use both" all the time. One way to be sure if you have a strong Ni is a definitive speech with a sense of urgency and gravity.

    • @kyurei4478

    I agree compartmentalized is the key word.. Se do have accurate memories but it's not compartmentalized in the cabinets you mentioned... For Si it's like categorization, while Ne finds parallels between those categories

    I notice I only tangent when I feel really lonely, because I'm so consumed by my thoughts that I simply accumulate so much I want to talk about and want the other person to understand because these thoughts and the things I created from these ponderings really matter to me. The problem is that they seem very strange and obscure and some require context. I feel somewhat foreign yet excited and worried that I have little time to find someone who actually cares about these things and might understand. I blurt out and tangent, conflicted in my attempt at conveying my message and simply venting my thoughts and finding emotional satisfaction and connection
    Unrelated, but I'm now at the Ne/Si part and your first point made me feel uncomfortable and weird. It reminded me of how I often feel foreign and uncomfortable with separating parts of myself. I usually try to boil things down as little as possible and try to conjoin them all in some way even if I feel I need to separate them in some way for someone else. However, finding more people who are willing to understand makes me feel less like I'm forced into this strange box.

    From what I've noticed is that if you have autism and adhd then your speech will sound concrete but in a ne way, but because ofa autism, it can sound a mix of si and ni too because autism prefers to have one option in things like ni they wnat the one truth, and they crave familarity. But with adhd, it gives you strong ne that makes you jump topic to topic. So basically audhd people struggle more figuring out their cogntiive function.

    I break down things and explain them each separately but then connect the end results of each explanation together to get the general idea, but during my explanations I'll probably use a lot of references and also could link something with something else but they'll have in common the subject of the conversation but not necessarily the same origin system. For example, I may say "literally" in my phrase and then I quickly think of a meme that had "literally" in it and then just throw it in and then come back to what I was saying. That can also make me a not so good conclusive person because I have already made the general idea known during the entire speech so closing it with a conclusion may be not very deep, so usually I use thesis statement for a conclusion. Do you get it? What am I?
