Once I saw a grown man on the street sobbing. I asked him if I could help him and he smiled and said "no, thank you but I just came from my sister's house and we were watching Little House on the Prairie. It always makes me cry. It was a much simpler time.

When I was in the third grade my teacher, Miss Dickenson, used to read from Little House books every lunch hour.
No one had ever heard of Little House on the prairie. But shortly afterward, it was on TV.

I grow up in the 70’ with the little house on the prairie and I loved it dearly ❤️ Today I am 62 years old and I got SO happy to see they started to send it again on the TV-screen here in Norway! I now watch it with the same enthusiasm and excitement as when I was a child and cry like a baby on the sad parts! Amazing 😂😂😂‼️ No TV-series has ever had such an impact on me before or after as the little house on the prairie ❤️❤️❤️ But it’s only the original actors and films that can make the magic on this series! They can never bring the same magic back with new actors and stages!!

The saddest episode for me was when Albert snuck beneath the blind school and smoked that cigar and the blind school caught on fire and Mary lost her baby as she thought that Hester Sue was going to get the baby out but some other blind child was stuck behind a door and could not get out and she sat the baby down to help free the other blind child and both Hester Sue and the baby died and could be seen trapped at the window unable to escape. Then later Mary is seen in a daze humming to herself and Albert is sent in to try to speak to his sister Mary and giver her comfort but he is ridden with guilt.

My mom actually required we watch this show back in the day lol. Such a crazy time back then. You could watch T&A on Charlie's Angle's one night, wholesome Little House another, and boomers bed hopping on The Love Boat on the weekend. I wouldn't trade growing up in this era for anything, maybe the late 40s would've been cool.

I swear, the town I grew up in back in the 70s 80s, we never felt like LHOTP was too far removed. We were surrounded by old houses built during that time period. Our garage was once a black smith shop, still had the old pot bellied stove which my dad used for heat in the winter when he worked out there!

I loved Little House on the Prairie. They used to go to Tucson for some celebrity baseball games. The first one we went to, these two twin kids were coming up to us and we were playing with them. And then Michael Landon walked over and it turns out they were his twins! He was so nice and he asked us to go on the field and play with the twins. I was too shy but another girl that was with us went out and played with them. Michael gave us autographed photos and he took my camera and was taking photos of all the cast and the baseball game, sadly it was the days of the flash cubes and because it was so bright we didn't think we needed flash, so none of the photos turned out. But I'll never forget that day! I just realized the other day one of the twins is the actress on Yellowstone! Jennifer Landon, the one with the pink hair! (Teeter) So cool !

I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie. It did teach alot of wholesome values about family life. I think watching it made me a better person today. Kinda funny how a TV show could do that. But times were different back then. TV shows nowadays are exactly the opposite. That is why divorce rate, violence and other evils have increased. My two cents. Anyways, thanks for the memories.

I hope I am remembering right, but 3 episodes come to mind that kinda got me back then. One was a girl RapED, got pregnant and her father sent her away to hide she'd been assaulted. The other was where a they were jumping into hay from a barn loft and a boy jumped onto a pitchfork (not sure it was LHotP). The 3rd one was where a girl lost her necklace while swimming with everyone, dove down to find it, and didn't come back up. I guess I could say a 4th would be when Charles and friend were out of town working laying the railroad and the one guy always playing jokes with dynamite blew himself up. I hope I'm remembering them correctly from Little House on the Prairie.

It was the family’s high point to watch it. We had absolutely shitty tv in my country, and this was the only thing that was see worthy at the time. We flocked around it every Saturday evening eating cinnamon buns and it was the only hours in which I wasn’t abused or sexually assaulted. I got a look at what a real father would have looked like, something so different from my own abusive father.
I learned speaking English from that tv series and it became a dear memory.

They filmed in my hometown, and we walk to the sets from school as mini field trips. Micheal was always real nice, welcomed or family to lunch, and watch as they filmed some of the blizzards. The train they used would later be used in Back to the future 3.
Every year they'd come and play softball with the local high school and hang up with those who came.
Very fond memories. Kinda wish they quit putting stuff like this out there, yes they were all flawed, so are we, but they put something special out and somethings would be better left alone, it's like digging up dirt on Lucy... leave it...
Let us keep those nice memories, they're no longer here to give their side.
