When I panic in the canter, I tend to round my back to sit deeper, or so I subconciously thought. But I end up flopping and flying out of my seat every stride. I'm still waiting to try out some techniques from you and other youtube equestrians.
I have a flat back but on occasions if I worry or have fear I will arch by back through tension or collapse everything falling forward. Would live a video on the ball to help with trot and different transitions to practise whilst off the horse
Hi Callie, thank you for the tip. I have just started taking some lessons and am keen to check out your 7 day riding lessons. Where can I find it? Thank you
So it is winter where I am, and I can’t ride in the winter because I only take lessons. But I do have an exercise ball. Is there any other things I can do with it to keep in shape while I’m not riding? 😁 I also tend to arch my back, because I am trying too hard not to slouch!!
Because of my swayback I ride very hollow and usually have really bad back pain after a ride after physical therapy it has reduced my sway back some but I still kinda fall back into position I’m hoping being able to do it on my ball will help my muscle memory snap my back “into proper shape” faster
I’ve had a fusion in my lower spine, so arching my back is terrible for me but my instructor has to tell me to pull my bellybutton in to get the arch out of my back.
I am riding with the flat back, I arch my back a little bit when I want the horse to move forward and I sit deep when I want to slow down a horse during trot or absorb movement while doing sitting trot.
I still have a problem sometimes, e.g. today I was doing sitting trot with my school horse and its terrible, I am bouncing all over the saddle because the saddle is hard. Even though I am doing everything to stay relaxed I cant stop bouncing. I need to practice it more (ps: my butt hurts now because of that hard saddle and bouncing :D)
Hi Stefan. I think you may be squeezing your knees which is why you're bouncing all over the place. If you feel comfortable enough, try taking your feet out of the stirrups, let your legs hang long, and have the horse do a slow trot. Let the horse trot a few steps at a time, and then go back to the walk. HTH.
I am not squeezing anything, I am especially focus not to squeez or tighten anything on my body. But good idea to try it without stirrups :) maybe then I will do it better with them.
wow - such a simple explanation but clearly shows the impact of our back position on the horse - thank you so much!

Really practical and clearly explained advice
What size exercise ball do you use?
Hey Callie, I really want to take your 7 day course but the link is broken and unavailable. Do you have it elsewhere, on UA-cam maybe? Thank you
I just found this as I lean forward but my exercise ball is smaller than yours. But thankyou for this :)
Excellent - this really works. Thanks.

This was very helpful, thankyou.
Oh Callie, I wish you were my instructor...
thanks Callie - the effect is so well shown on the exercise ball!
I tend to over round my back when I ride
You may bounce on Exercise ball. 🙂⚽️

I ride mostly with a flat back. I noticed that when I go to canter, my instructor tells me to arch my back, but I'm not quite sure what the reason is.
Same
I tend to keep my head down
Nice video and well explained! I like to share it to my students if that is Okey? :)
hollow back and will use these exercises. I have a ball at home

I have grown to really enjoy the sitting trot.

Stefan I use the same technique
What is the size of the that ball?
depends on your height
I sit rounded
I have to arch due to the fact that my back arch is large and my disability doesn't allow the flat back for too long
How are you doing. 🙂💋
❤❤❤🖐️
Callie she's bouncing yellow exercise ball
A hollow back too much.
