Brilliant build, Robin! One suggestion: Why don't you take one of the large yellow "cargo" cylinders, and convert it into a decompression chamber? If this is a diving support vessel, that's a necessary piece of safety equipment. You could use one of the octagonal-opening pieces on one end of the cylinder to form an entry hatch, and let it face forward, towards the ship's bow.
Sounds fun. I thought this was more of a supply support vessel. Maybe the other one, in the cabinet, has a chamber!
Love this boat. The only thing i could think is have the crane in action lifting one object hovering over the water. Which explains why the capton is not in the wheel house
I was going to have it tied up in port but realised I have too many ships. A good problem to have. Anchor up and no one at the wheel is a less good problem, haha!
Another classic upgraded Robin, I love the look with the loaded cargo. Very colorfull, well done and can't wait how the new harbour area is gonna turn out!
I think it'll be a complete reshuffle of the current stuff but hopefully with some more spaces thrown in!
Hi Robin you are exactly right regarding the small grey drainage holes on both sides of the hull. When ships go through heavy seas, waves crash over the desk and particularly for safety reasons for the deckhands the water needs a quick escape route.
There you go. Thanks!
Wow! I haven't seen one of those red and gray crank-bricks in a *looong* time. 😀
I was sent it by a lovely subscriber and it came in handy almost straight away!
Maybe the captain should be enjoying a mug of tea?
Delicious idea!
I remember the sticker drama from the 90's sets. It was actually according the instructions to put stickers after assembly. and often they did span multiple bricks!
One of the reasons I didn't buy the Maersk train when I started out. And the price tag!
The white-blue Dive flag is the international signal flag Alfa, which on its own does exactly mean what you said it does.
the Red with white diagonal, is the USA local version.
Maybe that little blue bricks on the bow you added could have a 1x1 plate in blue to cover up that white stud still showing? and maybe an anchor whinch something at the bow?
ooh add the pallet with box and red bottles too please, on the grate, hanging in the crane? because that is such a contrasting colour to the yellow tanks and sub. (oh I spoke to soon, you did in the end! :) )
That's an absolutely awesome looking boat!!
It really is!
You could always use a cupboard piece 4532 if you want to fit a larger sticker. It's the only 2x3x2 piece I can imagine.
And available in red. Might look weird from the other side though. I'll try it if I get a bigger sticker set!
@@RobinHoodBricks There's red doors and drawers as well, they could just be blocked by the brick in front as a little greeble on the inside.
Very awesome build for Boaty McBoatface! Nice classic look with some nice modern mods or additions. Well done!
Thank you kindly!
Boat looks awesome, and congrats on 600 vids. I've watch all the playlist except the whole journey one. I think I just have less than half the brick hauls left to watch.
Wow, your doing pretty well there. You'll not know what to do when you run out!
after some maths i estimate the 20,000 bricks under the sea to be somewhere in either the english channel or the north sea as the north sea at its deepest is 72,917 2x2 bricks from surface to bottom and the English channel is 18,125 2x2 bricks from top to bottom. But both of these have areas which reach almost exactly 20,000 bricks give or take a few. (also yes i am aware that in the 20k leagues under the sea book it was the distance travelled under water not the depth travelled)
Good maths!
Bloody awesome! These sets were just as my dark age set in so sad I missed out. I am very excited for the new city harbour this year as it looks like another brick built boat! Hurrah! This one does have a such a gorgeous classic shape. I’m quite jealous.
There's something about the shape I can't quite describe that I like so very much.
Not heard about the new set. Just took a look. It's nice. Odd in a couple of places but I think I'll probably still get it, haha!
@@RobinHoodBricks I'd have definitely liked more "harbour" and a bit less "random building", but I have a real thing for Lego Boats. They were always so exciting to me when I was younger, possibly because they were the larger sets and generally out of reach for me. This new 2024 harbour feels a bit nostalgic. I'll definitely be modding it heavily to make it suit vehicles and also possibly a train connection as the crates look compatible with the latest Cargo Train they came out with. Not been this excited for a city set in a while.
I love that this can be a link from the cabinet to the city
Yes, more links to come as well, I hope!
Surely you are going to add a couple of blue 1x1 tiles / plates to cover the white spots at the bow end just in front of the superstructure? I do like the boat
The steps up are white, but I do agree on balance. It is done!
i love robins little hat. Great build.
Hey, thanks!
Loving the look of this diving vessel, such an amazing upgrade from the original, im definitely jelly that its not in my fleet :P
This is a great improvement on the set. well deserving of a spot in BNH 😊👍
I think so too!
Awesome looking boat build robinhood
Gotta love that flag!
I see ur point about the "boaty mcboatface" stickers being on 2 different ships but i think the other 2 would look better on the back half of this ship then they did on the other one they r currently on. Either way is good but u made the point of how perfect it looks on this ship and i have to agree
The colours of the tile and the flag just rock!
Looks awesome, like the bricks you added to it. yes I have two set
Lucky you!
Maybe the captain or one of his family members served in the armada in the past and displays the flag on his ship in reference
Or it's a Spanish shipping company!
Blue and white is international recognized as there's a diver in the water within 100ft of the boat and the boat flying it has limited mobility do to that reason and signaling to avoid the area around that said ship/boat, the red with white strip just signifies that there is a diver/s or snorkeler/s in the water so to proceed with caution in the said area if I remember correctly
Good to know, thank you. At least they're appropriate!
@@RobinHoodBricks your welcome also brick warriors sells a tobacco pipe if you don't mind 3rd party items
This turned out well and looks good in the harbor! Congrats on 600!!!
It's pretty impressive when I think about it!
A bit of a morbid idea but maybe just have some diving equipment floating next to the boat and a shocked face of an onlooker 😂
Love your videos Robin, can’t wait to see some in Brick Nottingham 2.0
I love that idea.
Thanks very much. I can't wait to get in there too!
These longer build videos are so great! RIP Bernard Hill, Captain in the Titanic movie.
Really glad you like them. Thank you!
Boaty McBoatface ended up as the name of a vessel: it's now a robotic underwater vessel on board of the actual Sir David Attenborough 🙂- I'm still a bit mad that the exploration vessel didn't get the name 😀 ... Regarding the lattice piece at the end: shouldn't that be able to be opened so that the crane can lower supplies through the opening? with that the boat is more stable when the crane is lifting stuff (compared to lifting it over the side)
I think that's what the ballast is for, but you could be right. It didn't open on the original set. I forgot about the remote sub being called that!
congrats Robin on the milestone ;) what about a helipad on the bow of Boaty McBoatface? Have a nice one
There's not much room on the bow, maybe on the stern!
Might want to raise the crane by a plate just so you know it'll clear the cleats.
My middle name is living dangerously!
Loved this theme as a kid. It always stood out to me amongst the many diver themes and it’s lovely to see it again on your channel. It would be very Jacques Cousteau to make a little tiny bubble helicopter for the back.
That would be cool but less so if tied up in harbour. Let's see what I have room for in the new city!
Ahoi :D
Wieder ein tolles Moc fantastisch. Was noch fehlt ist ein kleiner Anker vorne. Und man könnte das Teil 4592c04 in weiss als Pfeife nutzen, zumindest würde es von der Größe passen finde ich.
you should give the captain a classic telescope piece
Too late. It's a pipe and sextant for this guy!
I can't get over how well the Znap pieces look for the train bridges
Only the red ones are znap. The grey ones are regular LEGO and the blue ones are single train rails. The grey pieces also come in orange!
a great build! A worthy updated build on the original. Looks fabulous.
(I believe someone has already pointed this out, but the submarine onboard the Sir David Attenborough was named Boaty McBoatface)
Yes, I did know that but didn't mention it. At least they gave us that!
Well done Robin.👍🎉. That’s a very sharp looking vessel. As someone well versed in everything nautical, having worked on or near the ocean for over 35 years, I am impressed with Boaty McBoatface. I think it should have pride of place in your new harbour 2.0
Thanks. That means a lot. With that flag it's gonna have to be front and centre!
You can use lighter fluid to remove older stickers. It evaporates and doesn’t damage the stickers if you use an exacto knife to gently get under the sticker. You can then use a glue stick to apply new adhesive and reapply the sticker.
I use my Patented Hot Tea Technique as it's better, in my opinion. However these were disintegrating due to past sun damage so they couldn't be lifted by either method!
Queen's Fleet Dive Support, bringing supplies to all your deep dives
You can always trust QFDS!
Awesome build Robin! Will you tile your harbour in the new city? I think it will look better.
I'll tile the separate Ninjago area but I'd need a million tiles to do the city. I don't mind the blue!
Nice! But the hook of the crane can get properly to the cargo!!!
It can if the crane goes more vertical!
Nice looking build and a great nod to the original set. Very nice Robin, I'm impressed.
Yes it's a lovely result!
Technically, they did follow through with the boaty mcboatface name. If I remember correctly, one of the subs on the ship bears that name. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, tho.
No that is right. I mentioned it last time but forgot that detail this time, haha!
Love the design another awesome Robin build. I’m planning on building a cargo port in my city any tips and tricks form when you did yours
Make sure to get the levels for the ships and quays suitably different. There's nothing worse than ships being too high up compared with the land.
LOTS of cargo.
Too many cranes is good too, haha!
Mo0!!! Love the new build!!! Also a suggestion for a potential pipe piece for the Captain could be a friends sea shell as to me it looks like one in the fig hand.
That's a clever one. It would be rather bright for this old timer. I've gone for reddish brown. Moo!
I love this Boaty MacBoatFace II!
Also, first instance I've heard the patented hot tea technique failed... Have you tried to use coffee instead? 🤔
Blasphemy!
@@RobinHoodBricks Super Secret research has been undertaken to use coffee for the Patented Hot Tea Technique. So for it has proven futile, but our lab tell us we should expect some results by the 30th of August 2025
Yay 600th video😃🥳 the boat ⛴️ looks great! 👍
I really do like old Lego set into new ways that’s some best Mocs. 😀
The flag looks awesome and definitely the right place for it!! 😄
I think the cargo can be a bit better - move one and replace it with the other one you showed, just to break up the yellow. 🤔
Yes it would be great to see more sea in the new area. 😂
JJ F
The flag is perfect!
awesome build... thankx you for sharing.... think you can use the other Boaty Mcboatface pieces for each side onhea......jus a thought...
And take them off the other one? I suppose I could. Not sure!
was thinking can hang the Captain's mini boat of the side as an ER. vessel just in case "they" oh "srry" mean him had to abandon ship....as a joke of course...lol
Another awesome build Robin! The old captain would look great with a sextant and maybe Jack Sparrows compass! Keep up the good work! 😁
I have a sextant going spare. He needs a pipe for the other hand!
Amazing build!
Glad you like it!
@@RobinHoodBricks It is such a pretty ship.
Maybe with B.N 2.0 you could have 20,000 bricks under the sea under the city?
Spoiler. Yes, this!
I can't wait to see that! 😁
Looks fantastic, I would like to see 1x1 blue plates added to the bow to continue the blue stripe internally
Is it the top white step or a continuation of the blue? Blue it is!
You forgot the two red fire extinguisher in the bow.
I removed them deliberately. They were a trip hazard on the steps up to the bow!
Fantastic video
Thanks again!
Great job
Many thanks!
It was interesting to hear what you did to the old windows to lighten them. Dad put an old 70's car in front of a window and the clear bricks are now yellow. I thought no saving them but after seeing this can they be saved?
You need to buy 12% Hydrogen Peroxide from Amazon and put submerged in tupperware in bright sunlight or under a UV light. It reverses the process. Works on whites well. It may ruin other colours so do a test first. Be careful with chemicals too!
@@RobinHoodBricks thanks for that. I’ll have to remember that for if/ when I can get my hands on the old car.
Hello Robin Hood Bricks, UA-cam commenter here!
See you!
funny water vehicle
They're called boats!
Happy 600th bro!
Haha, thanks!
Did you know that the set 6557 is the only deep sea set with a train cockpit in white ??? (Metroliner style) 🤔🤔🤔 😉 Now you know 😜
I did know that as I looked at getting one. They are ridiculously difficult to get, haha!
@@RobinHoodBricks I did 4559 in black and white instead of black and yellow 😉
Excellent build
Much appreciated!
U should find "600" stickers in red and white and get rid of the ones on the hull that r falling apart since this is the 600th video
Haha. Interesting plan. I like the tatty ones now!
Give me a little anchor chain turn off the back or the front😊 because you're close to our brains and if you were driving anchored before the diver can you play store the bridge play you want to hit it
I'm not following that, sorry!
Can you make a Lego giant squid please 😊
Great work, looking good.
Replacement stickers are available for the set.
Keep the name on the boat though! :)
I've never gone for replacement stickers. It doesn't feel right somehow!
@@RobinHoodBricks That's why you have a good collection of original stickers? There is nothing wrong to use them with some creativity of your own, imo 👏
32828 is the part you want for a pipe.
Not bad with another stud and some smoke. I also have a wand based version now!
For the pipe how about 32828 in brown and 64647 in white
Very similar to what I've now done. I added a 1x1 stud with hole, in brown too for the bowl, and a smaller white "smoke" piece!
That's a great set... and not one I was familiar with.
The captain is perfect... you'll have to build a Lego Iceberg now! 😅
The only thing I think you should add is an Anchor.
I have the perfect blue anchor!
Fitting to pay homage to the Titanic captain the day after Bernard Hill passed away.
Oh the actor who played the captain. Rip. I'd like to say I planned it!
Fab McFabface. . . .
Thanks so much, haha!
Can you change the red base of your crane to white ? I think that would look better 🤔😉
Do you mean the black base of the red crane to white? That looks improved. Not sure about the red base!
@@RobinHoodBricks just the 4x6 plate in white.
I sent you some things for the new Lego room but they have gotten stuck in a postalforce depot. I sent an email with the tracking number so you can get it redirected. It’s in Nottingham (so close)
I'm on it, Kima. I'll keep you up to date!
I had this boot 🤧✌🏼
I imagine the word "had" hides an awful story!
LEGO part x99 for a crane hook 🪝
Yeah it's on the wanted list as I don't have one and neither did the seller!
Doesn't Lego know that it is very bad luck to paint a boat blue? Out in the water it become easy to not see it because the water is blue. Those shipmates are doomed!!! Oh No!! I think it may also be a violation of the SSP (Wo! Wo! Wo!) (Abbreviated sirens for the abbreviation) regulations. 🚓🚨🚔
Maybe it'll literally be a dive boat then!
Excellent boat… but I just noticed the emo boy and girl standing on the edge of the bridge looking like they are about to jump… how very emo of them.
Officially they are reading sad poetry but they have to be that near the edge or the trains can't get by!
@@RobinHoodBricks 😂
And maybe a diaper buoy
Nappy changing on board!
