Russ Miller Online Classroom: Moeller Technique

In this lesson from Module 1 of the "Hand Techniques" lab, Russ will demonstrate and discuss the basics of "The Moeller" technique. Russ studied with Jim Chapin for many years. Jim was the student of Sanford Moeller, the namesake of the main stroke movements we use on the drums. Through this direct study of this invaluable technique, Russ will help you gain power, speed and control in your playing. I'm a matched/balanced grip player of 35+ years. Oddly enough, the explanation of the motion on the left hand traditional grip almost explains the basic mechanics of the Moeller technique better for me. I could never understand how to achieve the same volume with traditional grip before watching demonstrations of this stick motion. How nice to be able to learn something new after playing drums as long I have. Thank you!
