  • As far as digital pets and overall creature collection goes, Chao are among the simplest to raise and manage overall. That being said, the process as a whole can be incredibly time consuming depending on your specific goals within the garden.
Nothing can really be done about the time investment needed to raise your Chao up to that high-grade "competitive" level, but what you can do is maximize your efforts during that time to get more than just the bare minimum out of your experience which is what this video will be outlining.
Most of this footage was captured at the end of the Series over the course of a couple of weeks playing on-and-off but overall took some 40 hours of playtime to achieve.
Anyway check out our guides, check out the Sonic series' or whatever other Gameplay Series you like if you're into that stuff and if you're reading all this remember that engagement only helps the channel so feel free to comment share or whatever else it will all be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the nostalgia trip. It's honestly insane how complex this system was. As a kid, I actually figured out most of what you discussed (though I also did learn a lot)- as an adult, I realize I took for granted how much time I was able to sink into this game. That said, I haven't played a 3D Sonic game since Colors, but I'd pick up the next game in a heartbeat if it had a Chao garden. Maybe Sega should just release a standalone Chao game...

It would be a nice mobile game but micro transactions would kill the vibe I think

In the early '00s I legitimately had handwritten notes -- complete with theories I tested and either confirmed or debunked -- for SA2's chao. I'm pretty sure they're in my basement, and I've got the same notepad in front of me right now because I haven't used all the pages yet, I keep using bits of scrap from stuff like envelopes and holiday cards instead.

The big one for me was age because I could never get a clear answer on whether chao COULDN'T or DIDN'T age past 6 or 7. Finally I figured out while testing things for the guides and this video that they can age indefinitely but won't ever live past 6 or 7 or sometimes even 5 years old without intervention hence the whole pool glitch thing.

A spoiler warning for those who haven’t played sonic frontiers
So the Chao do technically as of right now have an origin.
In the Eggman logs we learn about a race of aliens known as the ancients who brought the chaos emeralds and the master emerald with them from a different planet while escaping The End. However, after battling it and sort of winning, a faction of the ancient left with the Master Emerald to a place that would become Angel Island and then eventually devolve into what are the Chao while 1 specific Chao would evolve and become Chaos

Yeah I saw on the wiki that there's way more emeralds than just the chaos emeralds I never played many other sonic games though so I didn't really get too into it

If I recall, the tiny Chao Garden In Sonic advance 1 + Sonic Pinball for the GBA highest Chao egg was the moon Chao.
It takes FOREVER to grind, but that is the rarest Chao egg you can get in the tiny Chao garden.
From what I recall, the tiny Chao Garden has different versions of the garden based on the version you're using.
If you have no GBA game in the slot and link a Chao to the GBA THEN I believe the highest you can get is a onyx, but if you have a Sonic game like the combo pack SA + SP, you can get the rarest Chao the moon Chao, after buying and transferring all the eggs you buy from the shop. (if I recall, you need the max amount of rings or close to it that you can store within the game, to purchase the moon Chao. Which grinding for is NOT easy as it requires you to play the real games Sonic advance and pinball or even the mini games to collect the rings. Which means to my knowledge currently no easy way to farm said rings.)

The moon Chao was from the original Dreamcast ports. They removed it in later versions but added many other jewel versions

@@SullyN64 you can still obtain a moon Chao as the last egg in the tiny Chao garden of Sonic advance 1 + Sonic pinball.
Then transfer it over to a copy of SA 1 or 2 Battle.
I might make a video on it since it seems like I'm the only person on the internet who discovered this.
I post about it everywhere I can when talking about chaos, but it doesn't seem like many people know. (it may probably on accessible on the double pack Sonic GBA game, and since it is the last egg, that costs around the max amount of rings, and you need to buy and remove the other eggs into a copy of Sonic adventure, it may be too niche of a situation that many people don't know that it's possible.
I'll have to document it myself on how to acquire a moon Chao legitimately in SA 1 and 2 Battle.)

I usually am a pretty casual player when it comes to chao gardens, but what you said might help me finally get all steam achievements from them 😅
Also, cool video, i was shocked it has almost no views

coming back after not playing a long time, would it be better to start fresh with a new save when it concerns chao raising? (also, speaking as someone who only casually played SA2B and only did a little bit more in Sa1)

    • @SullyN64
      @SullyN64  22 дні тому +1

I'd say probably. It's easier to track all your different traits when you start fresh plus you get a bunch of normal chao eggs which are good for the 2-tone gene.
