8:27 Nanometers measure length. On the electromagnetic spectrum it would measure wavelength(not same as freq.) of the photon emitted, frequency is expressed in Hertz (Hz). Enjoy your vids liz and thank you for making you knowledge public. c:
Many brands will say that you need to use 'Their' lamp, how true is this. If you have a quality lamp that is the full spectrum of light for curing, won't it cure most gels on the market. Thank you for another informative video, and all your hard work.
Check out my gel polish issues video. I address how you can check if a lamp works for a particular gel. The main challenge for gel manufacturers is that they want to give their customers a guarantee on the products that they purchase. They also, for liability reasons, want to make sure that the customer who is using the gel does not have any negative interactions with it. Because of this, manufacturers identify a lamp that work with their line, test it, private label it, and then ask their customers to stick with that because it's the only tested and proven lamp that they for sure know works with their gel. That doesn't mean there aren't other lamps that will work with their gel, it just means that's the only lamp that the manufacturer of the gel has tested to go with their line. In general terms, it is easiest for a nail tech to just use the lamp that goes with their line of products, however, that is not realistic because most nail techs use more than one brand of product so in my mind it's better to find a very high-powered lamp that will cure all your products even if that means running the possible risk of side effects from over-curing (like potential brittleness, yellowing or premature product breakdown...which I've actually never experienced). There's a lot of good and valid points on both sides of this discussion but the truth is nail techs need to just realize the moment they venture outside of their product line that's their option, but they just have to take accountability for anything that comes their way as the manufacturer can't possibly test every lamp with their gel and it really isn't their responsibility to do so. I think of it like aftermarket parts for a car. You can deck out your car with as much cool stuff as you want like rims, lights, wraps etc, but if one of those things fails or ends up damaging another part of your vehicle you can't go back to the manufacturer of your vehicle and say "hey the wheels I bought (that you don't sell) broke my car"...
Wonderful video, you really know your stuff! I used to be a nail tech many many moons ago and used bio-sculpture, do you know them, they were strictly salons. I think they are still around anyway found one of my old lights during a clearing out and it still works! It is fluorescent wonder if it will cure some of the gel polishes. When gel polish first came out in the late 90’s it was revolutionary but I think we might have had to cure for 2 minutes but not sure about that. Thumbs were always separate and face up! My system way back then was a few hundred if memory serves!

First time I’ve watched one of your videos. Amazing. I’ve been trying to figure out the difference between led & uv. Now I know my lamp is led. Loved the science and my daughter loves your pop vinyls. Definitely subscribing
I am so glad I watched this video. I had so many issues last time I did gel polish and now I know that it was because I must not have aligned my fingers with the led bulbs.
Thank you again! Really educational video!!! I always have a misconception about UV and LED. And I don’t use the term “bake” or “cure” with my client. I usually use “cook” 😂
I am so glad to have watched this video! Science is so fun for me and of course pretty things. I'm so glad they can go together!! I'm so excited that I made a good lamp decision and when I upgrade, I know exactly what I'm looking for. Ty!
"LED & UV" refers to the type of light bulb, and the spectrum of light used. Not using the terms interchangeably. Great video! Love and Light from San Francisco!
Thanks for the info ! I was just looking looking into purchasing a curing lamp for my daughter, ran up against the " UV/LED MIXED VERSIONS", so I went searching for answers. I believe I learned a lot ! But with everything out there, (even more since your video release) I'm still a bit befuddled as to what to purchase. LOL Thanks for the video !! 😊💕
Hello Liz! when you ask the client to take their hand out of the lamp, rotate hand upside down, rotate upright and replace hand in the lamp again, how many times should this be done? and i assume the curing time is ajusted accordingly? confused!! I really appreciate your videos! Thank you!
They should keep doing that until the timer goes off. Then you can either do a full cure or if you're like me and you work on one finger on one hand at a time then just keep going. All the fingers will end up getting cured fully by the time you finish the thumbs.
This is such an interesting and informative video! I would really stress not to drop your LED lamp. My dad knocked my lamp off the table and while the lamp still turned on and all the LEDs appeared to light up it didn't cure my gel polish. As a result, when I tried to remove the inhibition layer I got gel all over my wipe and cuticles :/ On the plus side, I got to order a new lamp from The Nail Hub lol.
Liz you surely are the master of your craft,I'm surprised that your not a Surgeon Specialist - what I would like to know is all about natural nails - can you use the curing lamp for ordinary nail polish and maybe put a clear soak off jell coat on top ???
These videos and series are the most informative with the best information out of all nail videos on UA-cam; I watch a lot of nail videos so I know! So I thank you so much for all of this, it’s been transformative for me as many of my gel issues have been fixed from following your tips! One question - what about lamp wattage? Does that make any difference? It seems all the high end lamps have higher wattage?
With LED lamps the wattage usually refers to the number of LEDs inside. Most LEDs are 1-3W each so more Wattage means more LEDs. It does not necessarily mean the LEDs are stronger. It just means there are more of them, but more LEDs means more UV light which in general means better curing.
I have a lamp that is led and uv ( bought before I watched nail hub videos) question is when using hard gel to sculpt and build nails, why do the nail get hot with a thick layer? In your videos you do a thick layer and its fine. Your videos are sooooooo informative and have learnt a lot. Thanks
Thank you love love love your videos for sharing your knowledge. I've learned so much from your video!! You're excellent the way you exain and very thorough. You're the BEST!🥰

I have a CFL lamp, for three years and I don't want to change it. I don't have any problems with this kind of lamps, but ones every year I'm changing the bulbs just to be sure.
Hey Liz! I have a question, I’m from Argentina and here the LED lamps are very pricey, so i was looking online (amazon mostly) for one between 20/35 dollars; what would you recommend for me?
@@floridagirl386 they work for the cheaper gels. But they won't work for high quality gels. The 20 - 35 dollar lamps from Amazon certainly work as well but aren't high quality either. So aren't yours for 10 dollars. They are basically the lowest quality

Thank you for posting this:) 💜 Your depth of knowledge speaks to your investment in your craft as an educator :)
I'm still using my old Thermal Spa lamp from when I went to nail school 10 years ago. It's only been for personal use and I'm sure I'll be replacing it soon, but it's still going lol
Thanks for your great video!
Is it hybrid and do 25:42 it cure any type of gel polish?
Thank you so so so so so much for this video! I’ve fairly new to the diy nail scene because of the CoViD19 closings of businesses in my area and I have been hesitant to buy a nail lamp because I didn’t know much about them and didn’t want to buy lamp after lamp after lamp and not have success with my UV gels. Your video was so informative and was exactly what I needed! You’re so smart and I can’t wait to try the in-out-upside down with my sisters when I finally decide on a lamp! I didn’t even know they had hybrids! Liz you’re amazing and I can’t wait to explore the rest of your fundamental playlist! Much love!

First time I’ve watched one of your videos. Amazing. I’ve been trying to figure out the difference between led & uv. Now I know my lamp is led.
Loved the science and my daughter loves your pop vinyls. Definitely subscribing
This video has been very informative. One smart lady. this helped me to figure out which lamp id prefer. Which one is the safest also.
Im 26 minutes in and oh my goodness this is the most amazing video!!! thank you for sharing!
I have no words... I just love you! Thank you so much for sharing!
Hello, this video was so helpful, thank you 🙌🏼🥰
But I’m also curious about Watt difference about lights 🤔
Super educated, and from what I know right on. Love how your brain works! Great video.
I am so glad to have watched this video! Science is so fun for me and of course pretty things. I'm so glad they can go together!! I'm so excited that I made a good lamp decision and when I upgrade, I know exactly what I'm looking for. Ty!
Thank you Liz. I love your video and I love you.
You're an angel💖👼
"LED & UV" refers to the type of light bulb, and the spectrum of light used. Not using the terms interchangeably. Great video! Love and Light from San Francisco!
Thanks for making me into a smart nailtech!
Liz, I loved watching this video! You have such a lovely way of explaining things. Really informative . Thank you
Glenda 🇬🇧
Thanks for the info ! I was just looking looking into purchasing a curing lamp for my daughter, ran up against the " UV/LED MIXED VERSIONS", so I went searching for answers. I believe I learned a lot ! But with everything out there, (even more since your video release) I'm still a bit befuddled as to what to purchase. LOL
Thanks for the video !! 😊💕
Here's a link to one that I have vetted and is affordable for DIYers www.thenailhub.com/collections/diy/products/pro-nail-hybrid-uv-led-nail-lamp
Your videos are immensely informative!! Thank you so much for posting these!
Super helpful lesson in lamps! I love my hybrid but wish I’d seen this before I started experimenting on different types. Thanks!
Great information Liz! Love these videos!
I appreciate how through this is! Very scientific! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Very informative!! Thank you!! I will definately take this knowledge on my next purchase.😊
You're good. I feel like I'm in a college course for nails. Great teaching skills.
Great tutorial, it’s like a science lesson. I’m not a nail professional but I understood everything said. 👍
Hello Liz! when you ask the client to take their hand out of the lamp, rotate hand upside down, rotate upright and replace hand in the lamp again, how many times should this be done? and i assume the curing time is ajusted accordingly?
This was great I love it....get educational...very thankful...would love to see more
Liz you surely are the master of your craft,I'm surprised that your not a Surgeon Specialist - what I would like to know is all about natural nails - can you use the curing lamp for ordinary nail polish and maybe put a clear soak off jell coat on top ???
I love all your videos. They are so informative!
Such a great video! Learning so much information from you! Wonderful!
I have a lamp that is led and uv ( bought before I watched nail hub videos) question is when using hard gel to sculpt and build nails, why do the nail get hot with a thick layer? In your videos you do a thick layer and its fine.
Your videos are sooooooo informative and have learnt a lot. Thanks
loved this video! very informative & helpful! thank you so much!
thank you very much for sharing what you know, you have been more informative then my nail educator. You rock
Very good video....I now need to see more. I enjoy you “client focused” tips!
I know this is off topic but you look like Paige from charmed and this was a great video!
Can you recommend brands of the hybrid uv led lamps?

Omg, this series is the best! Alwwaays teach me something neew!
Hey lovely Liz. Thanks first for all the hard work. Just wanted to know that what should we respond when client asks about the uv light damage on their skin? Is it safe to have their nails done regularly? Thanks again xx
I’m in the process of purchasing a vu/led lamp, can you suggest the best lamp and gels to go with it? Thank you 😊
Great info! Really explained to the best. Thanks
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge about lamps it will definitely help me with curing gels on my clients
Hi Liz, I just wanted to inform you that I bought a hybrid lamp. With the postal strikes here in Canada, it's going to take quite a while to get it. The day it arrives is going to be a great day indeed. Thanks again Liz.
Thank you so much for your very informative video. I wish that I had seen it before I had brought the CFL lamp back in the summer.
Pardon me for being distracted by LIL TINY SNAPE IN THE BACKGROUND *AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH* Also love the shirt! Thanks for such a concise, informative video as always. Just made my first purchse from your store ^_^ Can't wait to start doing my own nails.
Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge. I love ALL your videos!
I have a CFL lamp, for three years and I don't want to change it. I don't have any problems with this kind of lamps, but ones every year I'm changing the bulbs just to be sure.
Nice videos! Very informative and you're very knowledgeable 👍🏻👍🏻
Your info is very very helpful. Thank you.
Excellent topic! Thank you for sharing! I have shared you on my website so that other nail techs will find this! ☺
Hey Liz! I have a question, I’m from Argentina and here the LED lamps are very pricey, so i was looking online (amazon mostly) for one between 20/35 dollars; what would you recommend for me?
In that price range you aren't going to get very high quality unfortunately.
Wish has some good ones from yayoge or coscelia. All of mine work great & were all 2-10 bucks...
@@floridagirl386 they work for the cheaper gels. But they won't work for high quality gels. The 20 - 35 dollar lamps from Amazon certainly work as well but aren't high quality either. So aren't yours for 10 dollars. They are basically the lowest quality
