  • When we got this van it was in fairly rough shape. It didn't have any collision damage, but it was covered in paint chips, failed clear coat, and was super dirty. After a serious scrub we saw that many of the chips had developed some surface rust. So we pulled the fenders, removed a lot of trim and started sanding.
    The goal here is to make it look better than we got it, but also give it a super durable coat of new paint. We need the new paint to be tough since the end game with this van is to transform it into a super boon docking camper van! The paint needs to be resistant to rocks, shrubs, dirt, and anything else that comes its way as we go exploring.
    The solution is a nice thick coat of oil-based Rustoleum. It will be rolled on for ease of application and to keep costs down. Stay tuned for more updates on the van roller paint.
    This video is an update on the progress so far. I have finished the 400-grit pass of sanding the van, and I discuss the next sanding pass.
