Apparently your idea and my idea of affordable are two completely different things.
Me too. I clicked thinking I would see $3,000 dollar “affordable” but the first one was $13,495? Then we go to $6,950 as minimalist. After that I clicked away.
For $300 you can put a tent in the back of your truck.
Overland style toppers are luxuries that usually go for around $45,000.
These are the cheapest I've seen so far, for the less than average outdoor rookie, like myself. 🤷
@@J.D.Vision
That’s irrelevant. These things are still not “affordable” by most people’s standards.
Napier truck tent for $300 is best option
It really amazes me how out of touch these companies are. The original campers were made because people couldn’t afford a full blown camper or the campers weren’t tough enough for 4x4 trails. What blows me away is these people thinking $12-20,000 is affordable for basically a bed. I can get a used camper with everything for $2-5000.
It is coming down to weight, you cannot fit most used campers on the trucks that people are using for overlanding, they're too heavy.
Lightweight, strength, and a small package for getting into trails. These aren't your dad's camper for going to the park.
@@geographyinaction7814 many of those materials are cheap. Aluminum an polystyrene or fiberglass an polypropylene. Only thing expensive is what marketing has people believing
It's the cost! We can see that this market is getting saturated, we can also see a real slow down in the market, unfortunately many of these companies will not make it thru next year, unless they can get those prices down. the dream of going over landing is not becoming a reality for those consumers who were daydreaming with the youtubers during the Covid shutdown, and the ability to input this lifestyle it into their real-life recreation time. @@geographyinaction7814
Having one of those old style white camper tops really limits the amount of offroading you can do though, they're really meant for touring but if that's all you're going to be doing then they are absolutely a great option. Though I would agree $10K+ is starting to push it for these and $20K+ is pretty crazy.
Come on people, we can go to the moon and you’re telling me that with all the geniousness out there, we can’t design affordable, lightweight and sturdy products without form or function??? Well, that’s pathetic and those engineers should be engineering toilet paper!!!! Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha!! $$$ 11:17 20,000.00 Is highway robbery!!
I love my Topo Toppers Badlander! Truck is still really capable on the trail and camp is so much easier to setup and breakdown.
love the picture of Hummer with camper top.....2 days and the batteries run down
For some of these prices, I'll pull a damn trailer. Holy hanna.
As someone who owns a fishing boat, this style of camper would be perfect. We have a truck tent and works great for $250.00. The price point needs to below 10k to make it enticing to purchase.
Yup. Especially a guy, like you, who probably already has plenty of gear, and all you need is the shell and the sleeping platform.
I don't much care for the wedge designs. If you're putting something over your cab, already, why give up all that extra space in the pop-up?
Also, adding length to the topper isn't going to hurt its aerodynamics, because it doesn't change the cross-section. That's why I'm looking for the sleeping platform to extend over the entire cab. That way, you don't have to fool with sliding out the platform to make it a bed, and you don't have to give up any space in the truck's native tub for the sleeping platform.
I found one the other day, and now I'm combing my browser history to find it, again! It was right around the time I was looking at the Bruin, which comes close. The one I recall weighed about 200 lbs, even, which is like carrying an extra passenger. Not these monstrosities that start at 600 lbs, most of which stuff somebody else thinks I want with me on a trip.
Definitely not for the masses. Enticing to buy would be below $3000
I like that last one in the video.
Defined affordable.
Which ones are the affordable ones?
Will any of these fit the new Ford Maverick with a 4.5 ft bed??
I don’t understand why truck top campers are so expensive compared to actual RVs! Is it low production numbers vs economy of scale? Is there a huge expense with mfg that isn’t there in traditional RVs?
I like this kind of videos of looking for the best deals.
Nice setup. Affordable for some, but not all.
So! How can i buy for the colorado 5ft bed in Korea?
We opted for a 22 foot travel trailer, but these all look surprisingly functional. Although I would only be interested in ones that could be optioned with cooking and toilet facilities, I think these are quite interesting for those who want to go a little farther from the beaten path.
Go Ukraine!
You missed Camp King and Alu Cab.
Should look into the Yuccapac from Alberta, Canada.
So,the front edge of the pop up is stuck, and wont go up- by design- how is that not stupid. ?
I am sure I can build a topper with a pop top for $2000.
If you're a okay welder and use meh quality metal, you probably could. The actual pop up part would most likely be the most difficult part, making it waterproof. Would love to see the build though if you're actually serious.
All these prices are over the top !
Those are starting prices, when all said and done the price is close to a northern light
I can't understand the pricing at all or how the companies stay in business at those prices. I can get a fully equipment tow behind camper with a stove, shower, fridge,AC, couch, and bed for the price of most of these
That's true but you have to lug around a trailer.
Things like motorcycles and campers were created with economical intentions. At these price points they'll sell very few.
Do you guys make a camper for the maverick
Do you guys make 14 the twenty twenty three ford maverick let me
Yea these prices are insane I can just buy a trailer 2000's for fraction of the price and I'll have way more room and utilities insane they even try to charge this much
Rich guys game now! $$$$$$$$$$$$
I find it interesting this video says "Affordable Truck Campers"? s0 $8k and North with a truck that starts at $40k whay not just buy a House??
$7k…. High cost for what you get. Affordable if comparing to a Provost diesel pusher.
I could buy a brand new isuzu dmax with this affordable price..
Not very affordable and most were not “wedge” campers
So if you own one of these companies then all of these are affordable I'm guessing.
A lot of silly comments on here about price, there were several under $10k.
That's still insane for what little you get and the small differences between them. You're as out of touch as the guy who made the video.
I can build a topper for $1500 with no construction experience. 😂
Affordable at $20,500?? My whole truck was less than that 💀
“Affordable” HAHAHA
All are overpriced. You will need from 1500 to 3000 for materials. And they sell it for 15.000-25.000 ridiculous
Affordable 😢😢😢NO
Condescending script and narration. All too heavy, and expensive.
Not affordable at all.
It's obvious the manufacturers of these campers aren't intending to reach the masses, only the rich truck owners. The prices on some of these are half the price of some trucks. GTFOH.
Still over priced
Most of these campers are overpriced as all heck. They are premanufactured products that the company barely does any work on. Scam prices.
Clickbait crap! Nothing affordable about these!
Way overpriced
Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
THIS VIDEO IS EXTREMELY DUMB !!!!! THESE ARE NOT affordable unless you make $150,000 /yr.
The price is very exaggerated and high with this amount. I buy a house, a car, and a dog, and you craftsmen always exaggerate the costs of materials and work time. The industry is expensive, and it is exhausting and complaining about the effort you are making.
I'm sorry for the text that was translated on Google
Or you could just buy a camper shell and put a rooftop tent on top of it, save about ten grand
Exactly what i was thinking.
WOULDN'T , be allowed in
A lot ot PARKS 🏞️ 🐻 🐺
