your guitar is SO CLEAN, it looks like a re-pro instead of an original.
congrats at finding such a mint example and thanks taking such good care of it.

Thank you very much. I think whoever owned it prior to me didn't play it very much and it was always put back in it's case in a closet or under a bed in a home where the temps and humidity were just right to keep it pristine.

@@Damianblf to my considerble embarrassment, I own 2 near mint guitars one ~35 years old that I have had for about 33 years, the other ~57 years old that I have owned for 35 years, but I am the guy who does not play them very much.
on the plus side, I have been a great caretake of them.

My first guitar was a used Harmony arch top acoustic guitar. Later I had a pickup added to it. The guitar had lots of tones to it. I was able to hear the tones and write songs. I miss it to this day.

I too have a 1957 Gibson ES125 I bought it from my brothers father in law for $1000 with original case, its freaking insane how nice it sounds, plays and looks. He originally wanted $1800 and I told him I could buy a really nice brand new guitar for that much money and didn't buy it but about a year or so later he came back with the $1000 and I jumped on it. Now I've had it awhile and have played it a bunch I really realize it was a deal at $1800. That Harmony is really sweet for sure and I would jump at a chance to own one like it.

Awesome video. I have the 1955 Silvertone version of the Espanada with the Harmometal binding - The exact same guitar Vince Lee is playing on the back of the Harmony book (great book). I even have the original chipboard case that was offered with the guitar in the Sears catalog. 1955 was the first year of production for the Espanada and they didn't have truss rods but amazingly that neck may the be the most rock solid of any guitar I own. Like you I LOVE the P13 pickups. Nothing else sounds like them. They have a vintage, period-specific jump blues / rockabilly sound that can't be matched by any other pickups.

Hi Damian, thanks for all your positivity, encouragement and advice . I have a question. Do you know anything about the Harmony Meteor ? The one I’ve been offered is a 1961, thin line single cutaway, bolt on neck, 2 gold foil pickups. I am thinking about it as I have two full bodied archtops already a 66 gretsch 6118 and a ‘59 hofner president. The other choice I have is a H65 stripped body and neck no hardware and needing a reset. Was the Meteor a quality instrument ? Ta .

There was a single pick up H-60 later made as the H-61 with the same P-13 pick up. I bought one for not a lot on eBay last year and it sounds amazing. It was sold as the Silvertone 1352 by Sears in 1956 and it has a steel truss rod- the un-adjustable type. Interestingly, it is made of all solid wood- and sounds great as an acoustic archtop. My H-62 has no truss rod of any kind in its neck and is laminated wood construction and ideally, although it plays, it could use some help from an expert. Unlike the H-61 it has no date stamp inside.

The thing about these Big mamas is : 1/ a wider neck than anything else in the jungle of electric 2/ the C neck are big as a tree but the models without tussrod are ever bigger 3/ the pickups are so bassy and breakup so quick that they also give a impressive result when you use them out of phase (like in the part II of vince where the middle position is out of phase for 100% sure). 4/ then there is the armometal models with the crazy aluminum edges... Woow.

While these guitars do have authentic tones, so would cheap gear made in any era encapsulate the sound of that era except for one factor. Music stardom. Rock stars of of subsequent eras had money, management financing, and talented recording engineers that fitted them into 5 star gear. That didn't happen so much in the Rockabilly era. So, musicians played what they could afford.
