Hi. I spend some time trying to rotate the elipsoid (making the selection) to maje the thread but then it worked fine. Just an advice. That bolt is a CCW type and they ar e not so common... the vast majority ar CW ... ;-D. Thanks for the video.
Andy, I was able to create the bolt you had on your video. Thanks to you. My only problem was when I scaled the spiral lines hitting the control key I typed 0,75;0,75 and it said invalid entry. I tried many different ways both with and without holding the control key. Using the 2015 version. Any ideas ? Thanks. John
This is fantastic but I've ran into a problem. Whenever I explode the spiral thread before rotating, multiple faces of the inside cylinder vanish. I'm perplexed as to why this is happening and how I can avoid/fix this issue. I've followed each step of the video multiple times but it seems unavoidable in all my attempts.
looks like Andy might have some sort of plug in to do this as I had the same problems as you: and I had youtube open in 1 window and SketchUp in another window and paused vid so I could use the exact same measurements I just find it annoying when people put vid on her and you wast just under an hour to find out it is full OFF S##T
Andy can you please put a nother vid showing how you did this as this does NOT work...................... I spent just under an hour making sure all the numbers I put in where EXACTLY the same as you used do you have a plug in to help you or is this just S##T?????????????????????????????????????
u need to have more knowlege of sketch up to try to do this , and i dont understand why somebody want to create a bolt , download one and thats it , if you want for learn to make special figures of this kind take a course man , that why we win money.

stylesuxx23 I had the same problem. When you begin to rotate the spiral please press the option key in mac or alt in Windows and you can fix it.

You need to increase the scale. I.e. pretends it 100 millimeters in size, instead of 10 mm
Did you screw, but really, there are easier ways to do it, to lose available during limited hours doing one without measures
With shortcut, nobody can know what do you do
