I own. V1 gong strutless 3&6 V2 gong strutless 9&12 C1 8&13 C•5 8•5 The way they fly is like comparing apples to oranges. I like them both but they're nothing alike. I really don't like the gong bar. Odd line lengths. 17m front lines 20m rear lines. All sorts of weird things going on with the depower line set. We snapped a front line on holiday and ended rebuilding the Centerline set so it would work on 4 X 20m lines. I have spoken with Patrice about how much of a f***ing pain in the ar$e this was on our holiday. So I hope they change that on the new bar. I've just got the HELLVATOR FOIL from GONG and can highly recommend it. €399 Great video. Keep them coming!
Hey Glenn. Good review and video. The C5 is significantly different than the DO. The D0's are so user friendly with foiling. Maybe good for surfing and foil surfing (neither of which I've tried with the DO's. This is only based on previous kitesurfing experience with other kites on waves). Hopefully we can hook up again in the Netherlands so you can try the D kite again. I'll try and get a set of the new "E" kites if they look like they will be even better for foiling and maybe you can by my old D0's :-)) H.
nice review I haven't tried the Gong but have had cloud c2 c.5 and now Cloud D and D1. the Cloud D is much better than previous versions and is a completely different kite. Try it if you can.
Thanks - very helpful review- the gongs look very much like the Naish Trips i ride- and i agree although they are both strutless- the cloud kites look like they can do moves - which are just not possible on the trip.
