Thats the timing chain tensioner. Thats an easy fix. you can double check by removing the valve cover. Big problem on the early PI motors
luckily you got that 5.0 out of the mustang......
Now this idea right here is amazing, would be a sweet daily with the sound of that 5.0
The same one he was having leaks and other issues with, hence the Yote swap.

Well he said that 5.0 he had sitting in the shop was just a mock up motor till he finds a coyote 5.0 so maybe he'll put the mock up motor in that vic
That engine must have had a metric fuckton of idle hours on it for it to bust it's guts at such low mileage...
My dream 4.6 build would be a Teksid block from the Mark 8 Lincolns, ported AFR heads, Ford GT followers, nice lumpy cam ;) forged internals, Stainless works long tube headers, custom X pipe exhaust out the back, 3.5" 18" long tips and a nice screw type supercharger for that whine.
Careful driver front fender. There's a wire harness on that side. If you don't relocate that harness you will chew through those wires and bye bye systems like AC.

If that's a 4/6 they're bad about the lifters coming off off The Rocker you might be able to pull the valve cover and put it back on
*"Dome light" is actually a ticket light lol. I've never heard of fuel getting in the spark plugs, but I know it's common to have to helicoil the plugs. Did it on my '09*
Bad injector, it'll just leak fuel into the cylinder and when you go to start it, it'll bend a rod, or valve. Explains why there is fuel on the spark plug.

Spent 4 years building my 1969c10. Finally got it where I wanted it and blew the motor on a cruise with my family just putting around in the middle of summer….
Dropped another motor in it, and a year later I was at a kids charity car show. A fella decided it was a great idea to do a burnout in a new mustang, lost control and smashed into my truck and ran over a kid… luckily the kid was ok.
Now in another frame off restoration…..
Bought a 1991c2500 OBS at the same time. Fixed it up and painted it decent…… Christmas Day I hit a 10point, 300lb buck…. ripped the box off and caved in the driver side. The daughter to this day still thinks I killed Rudolf.
Had another box for the c2500, but before I bought fix it, hit two more deer on the passenger side..
So I beat out the dents and patina paint and called it a day as a shop truck.

If you’re doing cams ya gotta tune it put a 5.4 in it might need a intake because of deck height but the heads are the same and you get more torque for how heavy it is and drifting

hey craig my 1999 p71 vic did the same but only in cylinders #1 #2 turns out it was cuz of a stretched timing chain for the cam... I'm currently replacing the motor too
I would go for a cracked intake manifold, happen on my 4.3 gm. You have to take it off anyways, good luck!
The extra dome light is meant to have a red bulb. I’ve been told it’s for cops to use in low light situations so their eyes won’t have to readjust as much to the dark

Dude talk about luck, drove my 86 f150 efi into shop, DROVE IT IN... pulled motor ,rebuilt stock motor with new stock parts. Put back together and literally the fuel pump relay, inertia switch,fuel regulator, and the ignition switch on lower steering column was all just chilling during the rebuild, never unplugged no battery on. they all went bad just sitting there over a course of a week. a WEEK !! iv spent the last two months chasing these issues. mind you the relay was new the day i pulled the truck in. now just timing is holding me up. freakin insane dude

The red dome light is for reading paperwork and writing tickets. The red light is easier on the eyes on late nights.

Aight, I might have a part of the answer. Vics we’re notorious for leaking water down on to the back driver cylinder, which normally shorts out the coil back there, but it might also have got the injector somehow and done something idk. It’s just in that same spot🤷♂️

Craig 909 , I would love to know the specs for the fox body 5 spokes. I have a Grand Marquis slammed and like the look of the wheels on your car.
Do a 5.4L 2V. It’ll bolt right in. It’ll be infinitely better on the bottom end, where these cars are severely lacking. The only place you’ll have to get creative is the intake. They sell spacers to use the 4.6 intake on a 5.4. Otherwise, if you keep the truck intake, you’ll have to make a cowl hood of some sort.
The 5.4 should’ve been a factory option for the police cars. Just like the 351 was in the Ol’ box Crown Vic police cars. Ford just didn’t like givin’ up those cubic inches like GM did.😕

I know this from experience. I wouldnt be surprised if yout oil pickup tube is clogged with plastic shavings. The timing chain guides are plastic and will break causing the chain to rub and grade them down. Rebuilt my crown vic 2v for that exact reason

While it only had something over 100k miles, you have to check the hours showing on the cluster when buying police cars. Remember that these cars sit idling for hours during a typical police work day. It’s possible this engine had thousands of hours on it way more than the odometer would lead you to believe. That can lead to the engine issues you experienced.

I blew my truck up too recently. I’ve just been too annoyed to mess with it after just putting tires on it after dumping $3k into the trans. So I definitely felt this one.

You might have floated a valve and it just came off of the rocker arm I would pull the valve covers and check all the valve rockers first

Just throw your fox body mustang motor into it
I guess it's time to toss a 5.4 in it... that'll fix it. Just make sure to replace the intake manifold if it's plastic, or gaskets if aluminum, like to leak coolant into cylinders.
It's supposed to be a cheap build. Just fix the issue and ride with it. If the engine is toast we'll probably not see this car for a year

It's a extreme budget build, eBay and Amazon special said by Craig himself. I agree with you, but disagree as not everyone has the money and honestly I want to do something like him and also be budget friendly. @@1stAxelKain

That won't do it, you'll have a missive knock. My 05 Lincoln Town Car, with the 4.6, was owned by a tweaker and drove 5k miles with a knock. Damn thing sounds like a hammer to an Anvil. His sounds top end, timing chain, lifter, including a bad injector. A domino effect from to much fuel to a bent valve most likely will put stress on that timing chain. It is worth fixing.
u should buy a old u haul truck with the triton v10 swap
Those 4.6 2v are all over for cheap, just put another one in and shred it, leave the swap for later, enjoy it as a beater.

Oh hell nah, way too expensive and title says "V8 sleeper". It's supposed to be a cheap build. Just fix the issue and ride with it. If the engine is toast we'll probably not see this car for a year

When are engines not expensive dent head. Didn't know extreme budget builds require a triton v10 or a new engine in general. A 4 banger is generally expensive buddy. Hobbies require jobs, this is a V8 build. Not a race car buddy@@SkateAndReview

Yes, a combination from a bad timing chain, rockers, and bad injectors will do this. The knock isn't bad compared to what it could be. My 2005 Lincoln Town Car has a bad rod bearing and KNOCKS like a hammer to a anvil.@@carado1984

4v swap time...
First thing I do when I hear an engine noise is keep driving it. Second thing I do is start it up and keep revving it because it might just fix itself with more RPM. Sometimes you really aren't as smart as you think you are. Car guys everywhere yelling at the screen.

Find a mustang 4.6 out of a sn95 and swap it out.

Bought my first truck at 15 for 6k, used literally every dollar I had and the flywheel cracked on the drive home from buying it, my seconds truck I got a few months ago has had a million issues that add up to 7k, and I still owe the bank 8k on it in the first place
