It's impossible for him to hide. More importantly, Sauron expects people to be like him and desire the power of the ring, which is why he pays a lot of attention to all the powerful figures in Middle-Earth. It's what allows the fellowship to move relatively unnoticed in the first place. In essence, Glorfindel is better as a distraction. Incidentally, Tom Bombadil is also considered as someone who is most definitely immune to the ring's effects but being who he is, there is a genuine concern that he would simply forget about the ring all-together and just leave it somewhere. Re the watcher: yes actually, it is implied that there are underground water tunnels that connect the whole of Middle-Earth where the horrors from the deep live. Creatures that are entirely alien and unknown and it's better if they remain that way. That's where Gandalf ends up after he is dragged into the depths by the Balrog. It's also the reason why they don't just throw the ring into the ocean (which, yes, is also considered). They *really* don't want to find out what kind of monster the ring could spawn if it was acquired by a denizen of the deep. Sauron is scary enough already, thank-you-very-much. That being said, I don't think the watcher or any of the Denizens are under Sauron's control and it's unlikely the watcher would have the means to move like that so.

To note, there was one patch, iirc either the last official or one of the first fanpatches, that nerfed the radius in which you could build walls around your fortresses to the ground, which is the radius you, Admiral Iddy, seemingly had to deal with. The Original radius was 3~4 times as large as large as the post-nerf one and I do heartily agree, the reducition in wall build radius made wall building way less fun, though iirc, the Return of the Lich-King Expansion hasn't gotten the wall radius reduction, which is an interesting contrast. (One of the reasons playing it may be much more fun.) Edit: Right, the enemy that phase through you wall though they shouldn't is either a bug they never deign to fix because of their opinions about walls, any fix they had made way more stuff elsewhere break and/or may have been an "anti-wall-of-map-edges" inclusion where units that were spawned from off map can not be blocked from going to where they should actually be "spawned" in map. Regardless of which it is, I agree on that being rather annoying. (At least with Misty Moutnain the wall crawlers tend to be not that hard to kill of during the animation.)

Maybe a bug, unless the free online version nerfed resource structures? From playing my physical copy, I recall when you're given the shadow to place the buildings, it will have a colored ring and number showing the efficiency of it depending on placement, ranging from like green 80-100 to red scraps. Something about how much open ground and lack of other resource buildings it has near, I think? So if you space em out they should pay good, but clump em up too much and income goes down the drain.

What patch did you play on? BFME2 somewhat famously had at least one super broken buggy/OP unit or tactic on each patch that might give you the edge you need to cheese. Examples: Vanilla patch: the banner upgrade on a war wagon gives you two phalanxes who swing their pikes for 500 damage a swing. 1.4 Axethrowers accidentally have +400% damage vs buildings 1.6 setting the ground on fire is hyper lethal to units & buildings. Also the dale archer war wagon upgrade has insane range & they hit like trucks. The patch selection has a massive effect on how easily troops live or die & I would recommend 1.4 as your best shot at succeeding with a Deathless run.
Erebor is the easiest mission bro. If you build two fortress on each side of the map, and put archers and axe throwing dwars in towers and close the main gate of Erebor , the AI will targeting them and it's easy to defend them on any difficulty without losing units. For me it worked.😅😅

After a while, Glorfindel was sent back to Middle Earth as an emissary of the Valar, imbued with the light of Valinor. So yeah he's pretty much the biggest badass on the continent.
Finally got to play this gem again a few weeks ago thanks to this channel. Awesome video too! Keep up the great work.
@@ry2950 thanks so much! Im glad im a conduit for people to get the chance to play again!
Thank you for telling us about the Battle of Middle earth Launcher.
very very very happy to see content and attention still being given to this game :)
You know your D Day comments really got me interested in seeing you try to beat Company of Heroes 1 deathless. The game should be great for this challenge since it is designed around micro of small amounts of units.
I love that the Easterlings are the only infantry worth recruiting as Mordor......again, both in 1 and 2 orcs are too squishy while the Easterlings can deal with cavalry and upgrade their armour.
Fun fact, the Easterlings DO show up in Return of the King, only in 1 shot, they (along with orcs) charge through the gate of Minas Tirith.
I olayed this game a few months ago and i must say, the DLC was hard, even when i was playing on easy, Fornost lives in my nightmares
@@MiguelSanchezDelVillar yeah its not as viable to mass orcs like the game intends its all about the monsters and easterlings for anti cav ah well still cool though . Ill try the expansion soon enough

What a coincidence the community patch 2.02 team for Rise of the Witch King expansion pack just released a new version that tries to mitigate the big issue with battalions getting stuck in combat and other general pathfinding issues. Might be handy if you ever try to beat RotWK deathless.
Also all the memories are of the campaign are flooding back to me, so many battalions lost when I played it as a kid lolz!

@@Admiral_Iddy That's excellent plan, Sir!!!!
Liked for your use of Tourettes Guy and Warcraft 2 music.
(One of the reasons playing it may be much more fun.)
Edit: Right, the enemy that phase through you wall though they shouldn't is either a bug they never deign to fix because of their opinions about walls, any fix they had made way more stuff elsewhere break and/or may have been an "anti-wall-of-map-edges" inclusion where units that were spawned from off map can not be blocked from going to where they should actually be "spawned" in map.
Regardless of which it is, I agree on that being rather annoying. (At least with Misty Moutnain the wall crawlers tend to be not that hard to kill of during the animation.)
@@sestrarsestror3417 right!? I always loved walls in games especially mannable ones and bfme 2 dissapointed me. Imagine it had age of empires 4 walls with towers and big gatehouses that you could garrison!
Heck yeah. Always great to see content from the admiral
Glorfindel of the golden flower was a great warrior from Gondolin in the 1st age. He held a balrog back single handed, so the survivors from the fall of Gondolin could escape, He was able to strike the balrog and sent it off a cliff but as it fell it grabbed his hair pulling him with the balrog to their deaths. Due to his selflessness and bravery he was ressurected early and with greater power, he would be sent back to middle earth in the 2nd age to assist against Saurons forces
@@brumahozen1232 and Elrond sits this badass out of the fellowship! He could have put the ring on an arrow and sniped it through saurons eye into mount doom ahha
He had an incredibly bright soul so sending him with the fellowship would of allerted sauron to them, defeating the point of the fellowship to begin with. But yeah he is the 2nd most powerful elf in the 3rd age behind Galadriel.@@Admiral_Iddy

Nice, I've missed this game.
Eldar, when they die, don't fade away. Their souls go to the Hall of Mandos, where they can get a new body. So technically, elves don't ever die. Humans leave the world when they die tho.
So Aragon not dead.
The one thing BF1 had over its sequel its the maps. Like instead of "Gondor" it had 20 lore regions of Gondor etc
@@ledanoir1239 true it was cool exploring all of the different regions in 1 and the maps were really nice looking too. I dream of a bfme 3 with all the winning recipes of both
sometimes when your units are near trolls they will get "feared" so they cant move. u can see in the animation that theyre hiding behind their shields. some heroes give fear resistence to nullify it.
4:08 I believe that's something done by the latest unofficial patch which comes included in the launcher.
I played this game countless hours back in the day and never remember this happening.
This was nice! Keep it up
Maybe a bug, unless the free online version nerfed resource structures? From playing my physical copy, I recall when you're given the shadow to place the buildings, it will have a colored ring and number showing the efficiency of it depending on placement, ranging from like green 80-100 to red scraps.
Something about how much open ground and lack of other resource buildings it has near, I think? So if you space em out they should pay good, but clump em up too much and income goes down the drain.
@@Ghostly_One1 oh yeah i know that part, but even with perfectly spread out 100 percent buildings they still go down for some reason maybe its a balance choice to avoid snowballing? So one player wont be making 6k a tick? Who knows! Haha
@@Admiral_Iddy i just went into skirmish to check, and it seems like every resource structure after the 2nd will make every previously built resource structure gain one less resource per tick, i dont know if they also degrade over time, but it seemed to only go down every time i built a structure
@@DKHacher Iiirc, ressource buildings kind of degrade over time to a given minimum, but it takes soem tiem to get there, which may have been one of the ways to encourage you to not turtle too much.
That said, it may have been a combined reduction, but I do not have the game on hand to test yet.
It definatelty did work like that, maybe they patched it to make it less finiky?
Oh by the way, theres a guy with a small channel called "fallintheabyss" who did this challenge run as well and he was seemingly able to rescue the units up north in mission 3.
15:25 I saw you had that issue on the stream too, crazy that was never patched

When expansion video? Great job bud
Gooood very good, now do Rise of the Witch King
What patch did you play on? BFME2 somewhat famously had at least one super broken buggy/OP unit or tactic on each patch that might give you the edge you need to cheese. Examples:
Vanilla patch: the banner upgrade on a war wagon gives you two phalanxes who swing their pikes for 500 damage a swing.
1.4 Axethrowers accidentally have +400% damage vs buildings
1.6 setting the ground on fire is hyper lethal to units & buildings. Also the dale archer war wagon upgrade has insane range & they hit like trucks.
The patch selection has a massive effect on how easily troops live or die & I would recommend 1.4 as your best shot at succeeding with a Deathless run.
@@Ivaneus27 i used 1.6 tried to avoid newer patches as they balanced things like cloudbreak turning trolls to stone which would have helped me a lot!
Battle for middle earth was possible to play deathless.
Just use all archers and like 3 battalions of melee cavalery and you will be fine

Erebor is the easiest mission bro. If you build two fortress on each side of the map, and put archers and axe throwing dwars in towers and close the main gate of Erebor , the AI will targeting them and it's easy to defend them on any difficulty without losing units. For me it worked.😅😅
