Calvert brothers are little guys like us. Dave is one of my father's best friends as well good friends with Snake and Barry. They all worked at Arias then took over JE and brought it up from nothing and finally started CP. I remember sitting in Dave's Garage as he was gas porting pistons for I believe a Yates special order right around the transition from JE to CP

When I went through tech school (Milford, NE) we went through some tours of all the different engine parts and stuff just like this and it was really awesome so the fact that you’re doing this for free for people is pretty rad. I could tour stuff like this all day just listening to the guys talk and show stuff off. Thanks man for doing what your doing
CP piston are hands down that best pistons made!! Seriously they aren’t cheap but nether is a rod out the block. I’ve used CP piston on 80% nitro methane atv that made 100 hp and it was the only piston to handle the pressures

It's amazing to see inside shops like Carrillo. A wealth of information sharing right through the video. It seemed nothing was off limits as we might see in some shop videos, which is totally understandable with some products or product development. Which is what surprised me about this video, we got to see way more than I might have thought.
These guys made my rods and pistons in the fall of 2022! 2015 Ecoboost Mustang NHRA stock eliminator. I’ll probably be inspecting the whole short block assembly in December. Interesting fact, the rods weren’t even in the catalog in June of 2022.
Another great video! 21:20 Shot peening doesn't technically remove stress it actually creates a different kind of stress in the surface of the material. Its trading the tensile stress from forging and machining for compressive stress as it work hardens the surface. The strength increase from this can be drastic. Love all the factory tours lately keep them coming!

Nice video. I just purchased a set of Carillo Forged Pistons (4.125" bore; 10.75:1 static c.r. w/stock heads) for my 2021 Harley Davidson Road Glide Special. Once I bore/hone my cylinders & fit the pistons & rings, my 114 cu.in. becomes a 120 cu.in. displacement. Very high quality, impressive...They look like jewelry in the box! Tom M. So. Cal.

Did not know that Arias pistons is now owned by them., in the period of 40 to 50 years ago the family had Arias make forged pistons for all the Lotus Europa engines we did. They NEVER broke. ... Old long ago memories.

great videos, i love CP, my pistons are the fav thing i ever brought, they look so sick! the one thing i would have loved to see is how they seperate the rod caps and manage to keep it round, because when you cut you remove material so they would have to account for that, or i dont know use magic to make a perfectly clean cut with zero material lost lol thats the one thing i have always wondered about rods and now after writing this im motivated to search and find out. one day ill have a full cp piston and carillio rod combo but my engine i cheaped out and went spool rods lol she'll be right
CP makes jewelry out of billet. I had them make some custom 18:1 pistons to my specs and weight and they nailed them. The dragbike is retired now with a #1 plate on it.
Wont aftermarket rods not influence the lubrication of the cylinder walls? Original GM rods had oil thrower tabs on the outer side (crank side of the bearing pocket) most aftermarket rods have nothing? Will I need to modify the rods with oil channels or the crank before use?
Even back to the later 60's before CNC Machines were around, Carrillo Rods were still the Premium Con Rod you used in building a Race Engine. They weren't inexpensive though, a set of Rods for a BB Chevy in 1968 would cost you over 500 Bucks (68 Dollars) However you get what you Pay for. They are almost Bullet Proof as far as Breakage. You really don't need any more accuracy in a Race Engine than 1/10 Thousandth but these Modern Day 5 Axis CNC Machines can Machine Components to 1 Micron Accuracy (1/400 Thousandth) all day long. We used them in Motorcycle Race Engines also. One instance probably saved us having to buy new Main Cases for a BSA A65 DT Race Engine that Normally have OEM Aluminum Rods. During a Race the Engine had an Oil Pump Failure. The Left Side Carrillo Rod was completely Starved from any Lubrication for a Couple Laps on a 1/2mile Track before the Engine Locked up. The Rod had Stretched some what, but it didn't let go and probably saved us a 1000+ dollars in Parts that would have been destroyed with the Factory OEM Rods. Those High End CNC Machines you see through out the Facility Cost a Bundle of Money but what they Produce(Rods/Pistons) is the Highest Quality you will ever Find...
I used Arias custom race pistons in my Corvair race engines then CP Carrillo bought them out. The last sets were from them. Never had a piston failure.

What amazes me in the machines that do the milling etc. Who makes this milling equipment ?
Carillo is the only rod we ever used in our circle track engines. FWIW I have never seen an engine blow because of a Carilllo rod failure.
This was literally like a tour of my work. Lol

Was surprised when CP warrantied rings for a set of 20 year old pistons i bought used. They were originally supplied with the wrong rings new.
They are a stand up company thats for sure. Most would not do that.
Lee Kavanagh, ,,, that tour guide is definitely a piston guy . I can't imagine somebody walking through that complex and not mentioning the new rod alloy .

Is there a chance of going threw Weisco? They make pistons and rods aswell another great company with lots of proven wins. I love these type of videos showing how it’s made

@@402SHO I'm sure Wiseco does there Rods and Pistons pretty much the same way. They both make really good Products, both make High Quality stuff.
