- The self-titled debut Rage Against the Machine album has a soft spot in the hearts of many bass players, partly due to Tim Commerford's killer tone & playing.
Fancy trying to emulate the sound? In this clip, Scott & Ian break down how you can get close! 🤘🏻
All you need is 2000€ worth of Equipment - thanks for the advice!
We could all do this with a $150 squier p bass and a $50 compression pedal. Helix didnt even exist.
Nah man, you need an active humbucker. Sterling by Music Man or even an Ibanez SR will do the Trick. Every compressor will do. Just make Sure you dial the attack long enough so you get the clang from the strings
@@buckkylem You're not going to get an active bass or humbucker sound with that setup.
You can get a Sterling by Music Man. They're still really good instruments. They range from around $350 to $1000. I have a Ray34 and love it. The point is that you're not going to get an active bass/humbucker sound any other way besides having an active bass with a humbucker.
One of the best albums of the century
👍👍👍
Nah, of ALL TIMES!
I listen to more R&b/jazz, neo soul these days, but when I was a kid, man, these guys hit so hard, they came to a smaller town called Spanish fork in Utah back in the 90’s (I was there) the MAYOR (for some reason ) thought she booked a country band!!! 😂😂 needless to say the swat team and all sorts of police were there cause she realized her mistake!! lol. I quit my job to go see it!😂 it’s on UA-cam too! lol
Just get an active humbucker bass an dial the compressors attack a little bit up, so the string clank get get through before it activates
Stingrays rule !!!!! 😎👍🏻👍🏻
Timmy? We don't say that. We say Tim.
Also add a small amount of reverb
What kind of amp/cabinet/combo does he use though ?
Very difficult to tell, as whatever hardware he had in the amps, he was playing with the components.
Apart from Brad and Zach, both Tom Morello and Tim Commerford were practically electrical engineers in order to get their sound, and what an evolving sound it is too!
@@ElAhrem thank you fam !
I know he likes Barefaced now but no idea about back then.
Timmy’s arms are alarmingly big
Apart from the fact that”Timmy?” Is using a three band Stingray !
Yes, but only for a couple of years
Anyone know the song name
Take the Power Back
Dude. 🙄
It’s all good, they might be from a different generation??👍🏾

@@hegemonycricket2182mb, I wasn't alive for when any RATM albums dropped and haven't tapped in yet; I've been meaning to listen to their stuff for a while. Is self titled a good place to start? I was thinking I would work my way through them if I liked the first one.
The bass in that live clip is way to quiet.
RATM is my main business inspiration. Getting villas and luxury life by selling leftist music 😆 Real capitalism heroes and excellent musicians
Champagne Commies
Except the vast majority of leftist aren't communists.
