If it was another brand we would be changing pipes and filters to have this much of an improvement. Sign me up. This isn’t for everyone of course but happy to have the option. Thanks for the good feedback and while the video does make it seem complicated - I promise in general I have a very low rate of people who need help on install. Of course we are available as needed for troubleshooting/support help and I log into a few customer computers per week to get software issues resolved (usually related to anti virus software blocking drivers).

Similar tuning process for GM Duramax trucks nowadays.
This video would be MUCH BETTER with two things:
    1. Keep his damn hand away from the device, until it requests an input or action, and
    2. Zoom in enough that the screen is readable by a normal person, so we can see as well as "listen along" to the narration.

Hi Chris, hope your cruise goes well. This is for the new DYI GoldWing people. I just changed my oil and filters. The local dealer was out of the DCT filter so I picked up a Wix 57671, which looks better than the Honda, anyway for the people who ignored how it came apart, The instructions in the box are 100% backward. They have you put the spring in first, the filter upside down then the cap. I don't see this working out very well for the new guy!! Ps the o ring is included with the Wix filter. Why can't Honda do that?

WOW! Just, wow. They must charge extra for the process. (J/K)
My only experience is with sport bikes and nakeds, but it's always been:
    1. Disconnect/unplug ECM (or ECU if you prefer).
    2. Remove ECM from bike and overnight ship to tuner.
    3. Tuner flashes ECM and return ships within two business days.
    4. Receive newly flashed ECM, reinstall and plug back in.
    5. DONE, go for a ride.
Oh, and going rate for a mail-in ECM flash without a full on-site dyno tune is only $300.

More power in Tour mode, shifts at higher RPMs. Smoother throttle delivery in Sport mode and higher RPM shifting. Results in more HP throughout the range. It may also improve mileage, but that has not been tested yet,. Also, eliminates the 105mph top speed limiter.

    • @cruisemansgarage

The difficult part is getting to the ECU to remove it. Removing it and re-installing is easy, just lots of body parts to remove to get access. Kind of like changing the air filter. I show the process in my maintenance videos.

I have a 2018 Tour DCT and I think it is great someone is trying to improve the Goldwing. I do see this as a very time consuming project. I would not go through this. Years ago I had a 2014 Harley and bought a re-map product and all I did was plug it into the bike, follow the instructions on the phone app and it was done. It also took a copy of the original mapping so if I needed to take the bike to the dealer I could re-install the original map. The process you go through here seems like a lot of wasted time. I would not buy one.

You can't use a mac or frankin mac. Use a pc. Also send a pic of the numbers on your ecu to Btmoto when you order the tune. I know thats a pain on our plastic fantastics. But if your there doing the worse air filter change in the history of internal combustion. Get some good clear pics while your there. Honda has some of the most complex and stupid base firmware code in the industry. It started with there hybrid cars. They change the base firmware and none of the base firmware is interchangeable that contains the tune. And there is no guarantee Btmoto will have what they need to get there tune useable even if you have a pic of the ecu numbers. Because Honda changes the base firmware all the time. Bikes built one after the other could have different base firmware. If they have the base numbers in there system then the flash they send you will work. If they don't have it then they will need you to suck the file off your ecu with there tool and email to them. Or if you can't supply the pic with numbers or just the numbers than you will need to suck the file off the ecu and email it. It's really not that hard to do this flash. It's basically like flashing the bios in your computer or any other devices. Honda is just a pain in the ass and the interface tech. Industry standard but it is out of date or older than there out of date bluetooth version and code used in the audio navi system. There out of date tech is why it takes so long to update the navi software. I did this flash for a buddy on his 2019 DCT. He had the numbers off his ecu when he ordered. So he got a good flash first time. For his standard Wing DCT. It definitely did not turn his into a beast. He likes it! And it now tops out with the windshield lowered tucked at a honest 138 mph. Beast and Goldwing is comical. It's about a honest 8 hp to 10hp and 2.5/3 tq increase and it smooths out Sport mode and firms up Tour mode. Raises the speed limiter or removes it and turns the rad fans on at a slightly lower temp. I think it also raises the redline a few hundred rpm. I think it's a good tune for what it and the Wing are. But he still can't beat my 6MT tour in a drag race. Because I'm faster to the 60' mark and his lighting fast upshifts can't make up for the difference down track in Mexico. And pretty common type of tune we get now days on these chocked up POS Euro4+ and Epa trash engines. Not like the old days when a proper tune could net 15 to 20 hp. And don't see it worth $800 for what you get. I have a tune on my MT-09 and it has the same net gains, with the same characteristics. It only cost $250 at the time, now $300. Just had to pull the ecu and ship it to the tuner. Less than a week for the turn around. And if I change the exhaust, intake, put cams in it,,, whatever I want I ship it back to him and he makes the changes I want free of charge and ships it back to me. If they have a sale or a mail in program I might get this tune or one of it's updates down the road. But not at $800 bucks. That aint going to happen.

I pull a trailer and was very interested in this for a bit more power, but it (BT-MOTO) doesn't install the way they lead you to believe. It's nerve-racking to attempt an install of something you know little about, doesn't do what the directions say during the process, and then you could not recover from without some kind of tech support, if you trust them be be there for you (I don't). This whole process needs to be much more straightforward for me to get into.

@@cruisemansgarage Not at all, all the initial process does is take a copy of the ECU file, so BT moto can program a modified file. In the meantime, the bike can still be used. The main advantage of the ECU flasher device, is it gives you the ability to restore the ECU back to factory setting, say if you need to have warranty work and you don’t want the dealer to see it’s had a ECU flash (you can then reload the BT moto file back on after the warranty work), or if you want to sell the bike and return it back to factory spec.

The tune is very good, but the process to get there is like taking a trip down memory lane to 90's computer technology. The instructions are confusing. They say go to this web address to download the app, then there's 5 different app files there to download that all seem to be variations of the same thing. Then turn off all firewall and virus protection. huh? The whole thing was amateurish feeling from a tech perspective and not at all confidence-inspiring but, again, once thru all that, the tune is great.
